    Adamant's mighty blow cuts deep into the invisible creature - making it screech! - but does not bring it down.

    Dannos attempts to trip it, but his first attempt fails and his next two swings miss due to the thing's concealment.

    Joel blasts a stream of acid in the location where he thinks the cat would be, and you hear a thud as the creature goes down! Silent now, it remains invisible for the moment; not quite dead yet ...

    Avakuss was glad to hear the invisible creature hitting the ground. He takes one storm giant sized step forward as claws appear on his hand, seemingly too large for even his size. Figuring the devil's barbs won't hurt as much as his claws would on them he starts tearing into the closer Hamatula.

    Avakuss' first claw attack doesn't penetrate the creature's tough exterior, but his second one does draw blood. However, he finds out that the devil's barbs are quite real as his arm gets poked by them.

    The hamatulas, perhaps seeing Avakuss as the larger threat, choose to concentrate their attacks on him. They tear at him with barbed claws.

    Adamant's magically charged blade strikes the barbed devil and it's a solid cut, but the creature is still far from defeated. The devil's barbs scratch Adamant in turn.

    Dannos charges at the wounded hamatula, tripping it with his spiked chain but his attempt to further wound it does not succeed.

    Joel attempts to blast the wounded devil with acid; this time he goes all out, giving it all the power he can muster. He strikes it and the acid burns the devil but does not slay it.

    The hamatulas' barbed claws devastate the immense goliath, nearly taking him down in the bloody assault. Filled with pain, he mentally redirects the pain and injury into the more injured hamatula.

    The fallen hellcat's form becomes visible as the acid residue finishes off the creature.

    As Avakuss strikes the wounded barbed devil, its barbs rip his flesh once again. However, his psionic power drains the life from the creature and pulls it into himself, as the creature drops to the ashy ground.

    OOC: Avakuss heals 48 hp

    The other hamatula's shifting eyes rapidly take in the situation. It vanishes!

    Joel says "We don't have much time. Soon it will be back with reinforcements. Avakuss, can you move that boulder blocking the tunnel?"

    "Sure thing. Someone hit me with the healing wand." Avakuss steps up to the boulder and drags it away from the entrance enough for everyone to squeeze in. He waves the others in quickly. He squeezes in behind the rest then drags the boulder back to its original spot blocking the entrance. "What was it you said about our enemy? They can't come in here that's why they brought you?"

    Even for the enlarges Avakuss, dragging the heavy boulder is not easy, but he manages to get it away from the entrance of the tunnel. Pulling it back into place from the other side is more difficult, and a bit of a gap remains - only a few inches, but it would be wide enough for the devils to see past and teleport past the obstruction.

    The tunnel is roughly carved from the surrounding stone, and pitch black. The darkness doesn't seem to bother Joel, who uses his warlock power to see in it.

    OOC: Who needs / has light?

    Joel says "Right, the rakshasas couldn't enter the tunnel. I don't know if baatezu can."

    The 10' wide tunnel extends about 30' before opening up into a large chamber about 50' in diameter. Numerous glyphs are etched into all sides of the chamber, including the floor and ceiling.

    You get an eerie feeling here, as if something is staring at you, but you don't see any creatures. "It's him" Joel says.

    In the center of the floor is a 5' wide disk of some kind of dark metal. The glyphs on the floor form concentric rings around it.

    To the left and to the right sides of the room, a large archway on each side leads to another dark open space.

    Avakuss pulls a necklace out with a stone giving off light. "Joel, What now? Anywhere here we can't step? Which way did you hear the noise from last time? How long do you need? What can we do to speed things up? We need to do this and get out of here. Worst case we teleport back and try again later." He uses his healing belt on himself and pulls out a couple of potions and his Force Screen dorje.

    I have effects that lasts 1-2 min. Need to keep track of time from the last fight.
    Darn, Joel had said the tunnel was 5'. If I had known 10' I could have used the 110 min version of Expansion instead of the 11 round version, saving a bunch of power points.

    Joel says "There are no traps that I know of in this room, but that doesn't mean much. I heard noises from both archways, I think. That disk is the seal, and the noise started when I tried to fix it.

    The glyphs resemble what you have seen of the Infernal language (not a language you know, but you would have seen some writing in it), but a bit different - an older and more pictorial dialect. They are probably not magical as such, but may have served as a focus component during the casting of a powerful spell focused on the metal disk, which appears to be adamantine. Spells that imprison something sometimes have this kind of circular arrangement.

    Dannos notices droplets of dried blood on the stony ground. They're all over the room but more concentrated towards the left side arch. Whatever left them seems to have moved under its own power, rather than being dragged or the like. The way they are spread suggests something big and bloody just kind of stomped around the place.

    Pointing to the left side of the arch and then moving his arm to follow a hard to see trail of blackness, Dannos says "Well, that wasn't you there, Joel. Something more Avakuss's size than yours. Doubt it was one of those devil things we fought... but whatever it was, it managed to leave under its own strength, by the signs. Not sure how it got past our recently teleported friends."

    Now able to make sense of the glyphs, you read them. They warn intruders to leave immediately, basically saying 'authorized personnel only', and say there is great danger here. The ones close to the seal speak of imprisonment. Notably, there is no mention of who or what is imprisoned, or who placed them inside. You get the impression that this prison was not custom made for the current prisoner, but rather is capable of imprisoning just about anyone.

    At 87/111hp. I had actually meant the lesser vigor wand but the CLW is good too thanks.

    Are the side passages wide? I figure my Force Screen and Expansion are about to expire. With 14PP left I can use Expand to get Huge for 110min for 9P then the 5PP left can get me one 3rd level power like Claws of the Vampire or Empathic Transfer.

    Still have the dorje in hand. The potions are in the masterwork potion belt so free action to draw.

    The side arches are 15' wide and 20' high. They are dark; not just lightless, as even darkvision doesn't penetrate.

    Sorry, getting back on track after the holiday.


    Dannos picks up a small stone then nods as he disappears "I'll throw this back if it's clear to move forward." the disembodied voice says.
    Moving forward with all the stealth he can muster, he spies out any traps or dangers as he moves forward. As the blackness envelops him, he keeps his swords in front of him as he reaches out with the power of his magic, trying to sense anything that may be moving as he continues to cautiously step forward, wary of any pit or falls.

    As Dannos steps through the archway, he blinks as it is no longer dark. Dim light really, but a sudden change. It's obvious that the archway is some kind of magical portal.

    OOC: Roll Fort DC 22 or he feels a sudden burst of pain all over and takes -4 on attack rolls, skill checks, and ability checks.

    Looking up, he sees a strange looking symbol at the top of the arch on this side, apparently the source of the magical trap.

    He steps into a large stone room, 60' wide, with a vaulted ceiling. At the top are a few glass windows, with what looks like a bit of blue sky above and light filtering down. Not Avernus any longer! Perhaps this place is on the Prime!

    On the far side of the room is yet another black archway of the same size (and with another symbol at the top of it). To the left side is another archway, but that one has been bricked up.

    In the center of the room is a large stone table. On top of it are a number of colored stones.

    Roughly in each corner of the room is a creature. Right now, none of them seem to be aware of Dannos.

    To the near right is a twisted, swollen form some 18' tall. Its bloated, swollen body is covered with thick, ropy veins that throb with viscous blood. It stares with hollow, empty eyes. This monster is no doubt the source of the blood droplets.

    To the near left is a 7-foot-tall shadowy automaton is crafted from a matte black metal that seems to absorb light. It's hard to see it. A mist fills the hollow spaces between its skeletal frame, and its two long arms end in sharp metal claws. A dour, skull-shaped head surmounts its broad torso, but the construct has no neck to speak of. It moves slowly but silently, hovering slightly above the ground and disturbing nothing as it passes.

    To the far right is a man-sized molten mass of flesh oozing across the ground. It has a human-shaped head and torso, but its body is a shapeless mass below the waist. A permanent expression of anguish twists across its face.

    To the far left is a wooden statue, humanoid in size and shape, but not quite motionless.

    Dannos, not quite sure what he's seeing, takes the rock he had picked up and tosses through the portal, not sure what the impact will be to his friends but sure that he can't deal with what he's looking at by himself.
