Leta stops to examine her character sheet again, looking for more information about that Path she chose.

She also checks her inventory and all other features on her sheet that she hasn't yet examined.

[Rizban]

Now that she's looking for it, she easily spots it. Descriptions for her abilities are also easily found on her sheet.

[Jeriah]

Thoroughly intrigued by her Path, she can't wait to try it out.

Leta decides to try drinking from the Sacred Pool.

After that, she'll examine the Hearthstone.

[Rizban]

The water is cool and has a slight fizz to it that tickles on the way down. It is incredibly pleasant.

After drinking enough to quench your thirst, a glowing gold buff icon shaped like an open book appears in the top left of your vision.

The small obelisk is apparently carved from a chunk of obsidian and sits near the tunnel exiting this space. You feel drawn to touch it, but you note nothing else abnormal about it.

Leta examines the buff icon.

Then she touches the hearthstone.

"Impressive."

She agrees to bind to the hearthstone.

[Rizban]

You feel a pressure in your chest as your soul is bound to the obelisk, and the obelisk now sports a single point of dimly glowing light. You assume this represents your bond.

Standing in the prison cell now, somewhat perversely, gives you a sense of familiarity, like coming home after a long trip.

[Jeriah]

Content that she's taken care of everything important here at the moment, Leta heads down the escape tunnel.

[Rizban]

You make your way down the tight tunnel. It's just large enough that you don't have to squeeze through it. It leads to a dead end. Near the end, however, you spot a lever on the right hand wall that appears connected to the wall where the tunnel terminates.

[Jeriah]

Leta takes 20 searching for traps. 23 total.

[Rizban]

She finds no traps. In fact, she feels a bit silly for searching for traps in what feels like her own home.

[Jeriah]

Leta casts steel shadows, attempts to Hide - (1d20+3)[8], and then pulls the lever.

[Rizban]

When she pulls the lever, the terminal wall scrapes towards her enough that she can squeeze through.

Beyond her, she sees the trees of a forest. A short distance away, you see a shallow stream of water and what looks like a rarely used path.

As you're taking things in, you hear horrific screaming followed by the sounds of fighting.

A woman wearing a blue Starter "Robe" much like your own runs almost directly towards you without noticing you. A rabbit almost as large as you are chases her. She tries to hide behind a tree, but the rabbit just circles around and... headbutts her. The woman flails at the rabbit with a rock before falling unconscious to the ground.

Leta using Inspect on the rabbit and the woman as she attempts to approach the rabbit quietly from behind to bash it with her femur club.

The rabbit's ears twist towards you, obviously reacting to your movement, but you strike before it can react. Your club the femur down on the back of its neck, easily snapping its spine and ending its life.

As the rabbit drops, a small purple bag appears a few inches in the air and falls to the ground in front of you.

[Jeriah]

She grabs the bag and then checks the woman.

[Rizban]

As soon as you pick up the bag, it falls to dust, leaving you holding a tiny potion vial.

Inspect
Potion of Cure Light Wounds (restricted) This potion can only be used on an unconscious individual. This potion will decay in 1 minute.

You examine the unconscious woman and discover that she has several life threatening injuries from fighting the rabbit, but she seems to be stable at the moment.

Sighing at the game practically forcing her to do a good deed for this random stranger, Leta uncorks the potion and feeds it to her before searching the basher for loot.

[Rizban]

The woman coughs and jerks awake as she heals.

You search the basher, but you discover that you'll need to harvest it to gain any useful resources. You need a successful Survival check, though you suspect you won't get much without proper tools, like a knife.

[Jeriah]

Disgusted, she ignores the Basher.

"You almost ended up back at your Heartstone."

[Rizban]

She responds.

“Oh hi, thanks, that was lucky,” the woman said, sitting up.

“Hearthstone? Hmm. Weird, mine never activated. My game looks like it’s a bit glitchy, would you mind contacting an admin on my behalf, since all my comm channels are disabled?” she asked.

[Jeriah]

"There was a hearthstone near where I started. You should probably go back and check it out if you have not activated yours.

What class are you anyway?"

[Rizban]

“Oh alright, whereabouts was it?” she asked, “was there a pool where you started as well?”

“This a rogue, but my main is a dervish, what about you?” she said, “so are you able to contact any of the higher ups? Or any other players at all? I need to at least let my kids know what happened.”

"Near the exit. On the ground. Only about six inches tall. Probably easy to miss.

Yes.

Then why were you fighting this thing head on? Shouldn't you be sneaking about staying out of sight?"

She shrugs.

"I haven't tried to contact anyone, but it looks like there's no Help option.

You should probably go bind before something bad happens. There's no telling when you might die..."

[Rizban]

You receive a popup message.

Achievement: Killed a Monster

[Rizban]

She sighed.

“I swear, multi million dollar investment and I must have told those guys a dozen times we needed more comprehensive QA and client support so we could leverage the positive feedback but it’s like talking to a brick wall,” she said.

“Yeah, I was trying to stay out of sight and get to town, but that thing saw or heard me, and it’s too fast to get away from,” she said, walking over to a fist-sized rock and picking it up.

“Which exit was it at?” she asked.

“not that it matters because it’s not like I _have_ anything at the moment,” she added, “maybe if I die and respawn I’ll actually get some starting equipment...”

“I’m heading that way, I think there’s a village, if you care to join up,” she said, pointing down the path, “maybe we can get some answers there.”

[Jeriah]

"The exit from your starting space, near the pool."

Leta hesitated a moment as the woman pointed down the path.

"Are you really not going to go back and bind?"

[Rizban]

She shrugs.

“Eh, I guess I probably should,” she said, “I’m literally at one hit point, care to come with?”

“I made a big loop to get here but it’s just that way,” she said, pointing across the stream.

[Jeriah]

"You go ahead and do that. I can wait."

After she leaves, Leta will slink into the trees, hide, and follow behind as quietly as possible.
