Re: Portal to D&D IC - Thundercracker
Huh, that was weird, wonder how they handle that with other players. Maybe I can only advance in the grove?
Whatever. Arelyn stepped out of the grove and went to go find some rabbits. She wanted to test out the invocation.
She’ll get close enough to the first group she finds then summon the swarm right on top of it, backing up as much as she can once it appears. She’ll keep moving away from the swarm until she’s far enough that she won’t be targeted by it, but still within line of sight so she can observe the effects.

Re: Portal to D&D IC - Thundercracker
Spoiler: DMNope. Summon Swarm cannot be dismissed. Its duration is Concentration + 2 rounds. So, it ends 2 rounds after you stop concentrating on it, giving it a minimum duration of 3 rounds.
You duck into the grove, avoiding your summoned swarm, and it vanishes a few seconds later.

Re: Portal to D&D IC - Thundercracker
Arelyn checks to ensure she’s at full hit points, then heads out looking for more than one group of rabbits close together.
This time she approaches to within 10’ and casts the bat swarm on the far side of the rabbits, as far as she can, then retreats away.
She continues maintaining concentration while moving towards the grove (though not entering it), unless the swarm comes after her, in which case she will obviously run again.
Spoilerthe idea is to give the swarm enough targets to go after that it can run on its own while Arelyn stays far away.TC for short

Re: Portal to D&D IC - Thundercracker
Unfortunately, you seem completely unable to find more than one group of rabbits at a time.
The group you have found consists of (1d4+1)[4] rabbits.
You summon the swarm and immediately retreat.
The swarm immediately descends on the rabbits.
Two of the rabbits retreat, but the swarm gives chase, managing to kill one before the duration ends.

Re: Portal to D&D IC - Thundercracker
Arelyn lets the basher go, preferring to wait until she’s at full hit points before leaving the grove.
This time, instead of chasing down rabbits, she heads to the stream. Arelyn is looking for an area of the water that is relatively deeper, enough to submerge herself prone, preferably close to a few rabbits, or the hole.
With one rock in hand, she casts a swarm of bats as far away as she can, then clutches the rock and sinks to the bottom while maintaining the swarm. After about 8 minutes or so, she surfaces to see if the swarm has moved off after other rabbits.
Spoilerlet me know if I get any Xp for avoiding the basher thanks.Last edited by Thundercracker; 2020-08-06 at 07:53 PM.

Arelyn takes some time to catch her breath to see if her hit points come back up at all.
Assuming not: She then crawls her way back to the grove, preferably without straining and killing herself and waits to recover there. Then (assuming she survives this) she repeats the effort, this time only staying under for 8 ROUNDS, not minutes.TC for short
