    The rats and bats fight for a bit, then the bats dissipate, leaving the rats to chase after you; however, assuming you continue to retreat, they can't reach you before also dissipating.

    During all of this, the frog does not resurface.

    As soon as you try to open the door, you are thrown backwards into the far wall as the spider tries to force its way through the door to attack you. You take (1d6)[3] nonlethal damage from the impact.

    Arelyn kept her mouth shut so as not to alert the centipedes down the hall. She pressed herself against the far wall
    like before so the spider couldn’t get to her, and hit it with a bat swarm on its rear quarter. If she could take this thing down, it would be a sizable bounty for her xp total, and then she could hide behind the door while the swarms took down the centipedes. One thing at a time though...

    Edit: keep the damage roll from above if possible, otherwise rolled in the discord thread for 1. DC 11 fort or nauseated, and 1 bleeding damage.

    You attempt to get an invocation off in the room beyond the door, but you can't quite manage to get line of effect through the spider blocking the door as it struggles in vain to grab you.

    Keep in mind that the hallway is only 30 feet long to the far end, and the 10 foot wide doorway into the centipede room takes up the last 10 feet of space on your left. Between the corner for the stairs and the corner for the door to the centipede room, the wall is only about 10 feet long. If you go too far, the centipedes will know you're there.

    Arelyn, not wanting to risk activating the centipedes again, drops prone against the far wall and puts the bat swarm at the top of the huge spider, as far away from her as possible. She then hopes it will dissipate before attacking her...

    The spider retreats, squeezing into the side tunnel and spraying webbing into the room in front of itself.

    The bat swarm is no more than 5 or 10 feet from you and at least 20 from the spider now, so... you take (1d6)[3] swarm damage as the bats swarm you.

    Arelyn eldritch blasts the webbing covering the doorway until its destroyed, keeping an eye and ear out for the monstrous spider. Assuming there’s no sign of it, she carefully steps into the doorway (just far enough to be able to close the door). If there’s nothing jumping out at her, she’ll detect magic in the room and take note of where the magical signatures are and ‘inspect them’ without leaving the doorway.

    Then she’ll send a swarm of bats as far as she can down the hallway with the centipedes, and close the door.

    You can definitely still see the tips of the spider's legs emerging from the hallway to the right of the room. They don't seem to be moving at the moment.

    On the northern wall opposite the door into the room is a 10 foot wide portcullis made of wood. It's closed, but you can clearly see another room on the other side.
