“Crap,” Arelyn thought.

In her eagerness to get to a door she could use again, she’d forgotten to check the room itself for traps.

One of the magical arrows hit her in the neck and she fell backwards, immediately unconscious. Wouldn’t be long before she bled out unless someone came along and helped. Or maybe that moderate perk would kick in and she wouldn’t wake up in the grove.

Your overly dramatic death scene plays out, and you wait to die. A few minutes pass, and you realize that you're only disabled, sitting at an even 0 hit points and not even bleeding out. You're on death's door, but you haven't stepped across that threshold yet!

Arelyn glanced around, pondering her options. Disabled, she couldn’t heal naturally until she started recovering. She had no magical healing. She couldn’t attempt long term care on herself. She couldn’t do anything strenuous or she’d start dying.

She glanced around for a potion like the last one that had spawned when she almost died. Failing that, she’ll crawl her way back to the staircase to see if she got some kind of hit point recovery for exiting the dungeon. This time she’ll choose to exit.

Another flight of arrows speeds above your head before you can exit the room, but you manage to crawl your way past the corpses of the giant spider and what's left of the giant centipede and to the stairs.

Arelyn slowly makes her way back up to the safe room and falls asleep, hoping she’ll wake up with some positive hit points

Perhaps surprisingly, you awaken several hours later having been completely undisturbed during your rest. You regain 6 hit points from your rest.

Arelyn recast her darkvision invocation and attempted to make her way back to the grove to finish recovering. She'll try to move quietly and stay hidden.

If she makes it there, she will eat if the food is not yet spoiled, otherwise she will head south through the forest to try and get through the marsh to a town.

You have made your way partway back to your glade when you hear a loud ribbit! The surface of the swamp surges upward in a massive splash, revealing a humanoid frog-like creature with a large pack on its back.

"Ho there, traveler!"

Arelyn stepped back, wary of her low hit points.

“Who are you, what do you want?” she asked.

[Rizban]

"I am Kur'glup, merchant extraordinaire! I travel the Realm seeking those who have need of my wares. And you, my dear adventurer, seem desperately in need of my services."

As he speaks, you hear a faint chorus of ribbits, croaks, and gurgles and come to realize that he isn't speaking a language you even recognize as language. You assume that the words you're hearing are some sort of magical translation.

“Really,” Arelyn said, “do you have any clothes? What else do you have?”

[Rizban]

"Hmm, yes, I do have a set or three of clothes. Very nice.

I have many thing you may want. Yes, yes. Please, step into my shop, and we can discuss purchases and payments."

The frog-man reaches into his robe and withdraws what appears to be a three-foot long scroll. He grasps the end and flings it out to unroll it. With a snap, he affixes it in air, revealing a stout wooden door that's just... standing there... being a door.

"Come on now. Don't be shy," he croaks as he opens the door and hop-steps through it.

Arelyn tries to discern if this is a trap, sense motive: (1d20)[19]

If the guy seems legit, she will follow him.

You fail to get any kind of read on him, but he doesn't obviously appear to be lying. Also, you feel that anyone who can just sort of conjure a portal in midair by holding up a drawing of a door on a piece of cloth is probably powerful enough that they wouldn't need to trick you into a trap...

You step through the doorway and find yourself in a dry, warm, and exceptionally well-appointed little shop.

The frog merchant is in the next room, quickly unloading small, paper-wrapped packages from his backpack and putting them on a shelf.

"Please, let me know what interests you."

He finishes unloading his pack, grabs a small sack from a different shelf, and hops back into the room you're standing in.

Arelyn uses her detect magic ability to discern the signatures of the place and then looks around for clothing first, as she is still completely nude. Any kind of basic outfit would do, so long as it fits relatively correctly.

What kind items does it appear frogman sells?

Your detect magic flares brightly and painfully, causing you to lose focus on it. The completely overwhelming magical aura leaves you dazed for (1d3)[3] rounds.

You'll have to ask the merchant what he carries, though he has asked you to name what you're looking for...

Arelyn thinks about what she might need.

“Umm, I could use some clothing first, do you have anything in my size?” she asked.

She thought about stuff she might get good use out of right away.

“After that, well I don’t know what you have but I could probably use umm... belt of healing, handy haversack, vest of protection from evil and even better if it has resistance as well, mithril breastplate, ring of sustenance, chasuble of fell power, ring of protection, a rope that can cast rope trick, gloves of eldritch admixture, chronocharm of the horizon walker, and umm, artificer’s monocle. Do you have any of those?”

He nods sagely, and his throat swells briefly with a faint croak.

"Sure, sure. That and more. Many nice things I have."

He reaches into the bag and pulls out a simple shirt, pants, and pair of sandal.

"You can, of course, pay for this. Yes?"

“Ehm, I have this,” Arelyn said, showing the four bronze pips she’d found in the safe room, “is there any alternative mode of payment? If not I’ll have more soon. How can I find you?”

He lifts one "eyebrow" at the coins.

"I wander where my services are needed."

He clears his throat.

"But that's the only thing you have to trade? Ah, well, I suppose I can at least offer you the shirt for that..."

Arelyn gestured to her complete lack of equipment or clothing.

“How about a tunic that’ll come down to my knees?” Arelyn asked, “I have these two bronze pitons as well, will that get me anything more?”

[Rizban]

"Fine, fine. Some pants too," he sighs and he pushes them towards you.

"I thought for certain you had something more valuable to trade, but perhaps my nose is out of practice."

Arelyn attempted to produce her moderate perk from her inventory.

“Unless you mean this?” She asked

“Well, I have this thing called a moderate perk, have you ever heard of it?” Arelyn asked, “only I’m not sure how I’d be able to trade it.”

He looks at you with suspicion before scrambling for a small, mechanical-looking ring.

As soon as the ring is in place, the band tightens until your finger starts to turn a bit purple. The gears and mechanisms whir, and the gemstone flashes with a bright light, pulsing 3 times before its grip on your finger loosens.

"Ah. Well. It seems you do indeed possess a Moderate Perk. And you would be willing to trade it away? Is this correct? If so, then I can offer you... a fair price."
