Arelyn reached out to pet the large wolf and the blue glow absorbed into its skin, fully knitting the bites from the bats and stopping the wolf’s bleeding. With her other hand she tried to cover the wound in her neck, with limited success.

“I’m so sorry,” she murmured, “I didn’t know.”

“What’s your name?” She asked, “I’m Arelyn.”

He snorts and chuffs in what sounds like a laugh.

"You may call me master."

“Very well, master,” Arelyn said. She bowed her head and considered passing out, but she didn’t stop stroking the wolf’s fur.

Arelyn focused on her body and tried to initiate a change right then and there, and turn into a wolf. If it works, she’ll look to see what’s become of her healing belt.

If it doesn’t work, she’ll sway unsteadily.

“Is there anywhere nearby I can rest for the evening?” she asked, “I won’t make it far until I can recover, tomorrow morning.”

"If you head back to Mother's Grove, you could find solace for the night, assuming you bring proper offerings and show proper respect to The Mother. Otherwise, the path to Littlegate is warded against predators. You could camp out there overnight with little to fear."

He stands, shakes himself off as if shedding water, and then lopes off in the direction of the grove you recently passed through.

"Ah! It's time. Gotta go!"

“Wait, what’s a proper offering?” Arelyn asked, but Alpha was already gone.

She tried to recall whether she’d seen the moon at night, and what phase it was.

Then she cleaned out her wound as best she could in the stream, then made her way back upstream towards the grove. Once she reaches the wall of thorns and assuming she cannot get through, she’ll try to find the path.

You follow the edge of the grove and soon find the path, which you assume leads to "Littlegate," whatever that is.

Should you approach the grove from the path, there are no thorns in the way to block you.

Arelyn approached the grove and limped her way to the large tree in the center of the grove.

There she fell to her knees.

“Hello. I have met with a werewolf nearby, and he asked me to make an offering if I wished to find shelter here for the night. I don’t have much in the way of possessions, so I freely offer my blood. If this is acceptable, please give me some sign,” Arelyn said.

If there is no obvious negative sign, she squeezes out several drops from the wound to drop among the roots of the tree.

If nothing happens she’ll rest beneath the tree until dawn when the belt recharges.

Arelyn tried to check for easter eggs
Assuming she finds nothing, she'll inspect the tree to find out which deity it was. If it's a deity of peace, she'll pick no. But if it's anything else, or if she is unable to check, or if she gets some kind of other response, she'll pick yes.

“Okay, then,” Arelyn said, “I’m Arelyn. I was actually hoping to become a priestess of the Mother, but.. I don’t know how.”

You know absolutely nothing about The Mother. She wasn't one of the deities featured in the game, at least not to your knowledge.

As to her number of followers, you are completely certain that there are at least two.


The elf's eyes twitch, and you feel a brief sensation like ice water pouring through your chest as you become acutely aware that she just used Inspect on you.

"I find that hard to believe of a warlock... Perhaps if you prove yourself and find Mother's favor..."

As the sensation passes thru her, arelyn’s eyes widen.

She was about to mention something, but then she remembered the last time she brought up ooc conversation and ended up dying.

“Err, I will,” Arelyn said, “any advice?”

“I think I might just, lay down here and rest, for a little while,” she said, “if that’s okay.”

Following this pronouncement, she half lay, half slumped onto her back on the grass and stared up into the leaves of the large tree.

"Sleep over there!" she angrily barks while pointing to what looks to be a semi-enclosed lean-to with a low roof of thick vines and leaves.

"Odd, I didn’t even notice that before," Arelyn thought.

Arelyn does as told and rests until morning, or until she’s interrupted.

Arelyn looks around then checks her injuries to see if any have healed at all. If she is more than 5 below max she uses a charge. She checks the grove to see if she is alone and if she is, she follows the well tended path to see where it leads.

You heal up and head out.

You set out on a very well maintained stone and gravel path that winds through the forest, following the natural contours of the land and vegetation.



You feel a sense of peace, perhaps even a touch a tranquility, as you walk down the path.

Arelyn inspects the path, then continues down the path to see where it leads, keeping her eyes and ears open for anything interesting on the way.

You travel for several hours and find that the only thing interesting is that about the time the sun starts to dip in the sky and you grow genuinely hungry, you spot several tempting berry bushes that appear to have been deliberately cultivated in raised beds right next to the path. An open area with a small fire pit is located next to the berries.
