Arelyn stops where she is and takes her time to look at the snare and figure out where the alarm she set off last time is.

You spot a thin piece of twine and follow it with your eyes into the undergrowth. There you spot a small sapling that has been bent and loosely secured with the line of twine. A copper bell is tied to the sapling. You suspect this to be the source of the alarm.

Arelyn finds a tree next to the cliff face, one she can hide behind. She leaves a rock there and tosses a stick to trip the twine and get the bell ringing, then moves behind the tree and picks up her rock. She waits for the sound of someone entering the clearing, or the bell ringing again.

You manage to hit it on the first try and duck back behind the tree.

The snare is triggered, the sapling snaps upright, yanking on the snare and ringing the bell.

The person from before doesn't immediately appear.

As you start to move to improve your hiding spot, an arrow thunks into the tree next to you.

You spot the person from earlier leaning around a tree on the other side of the clearing, lining up another shot with their bow.

The person continues speaking, getting increasingly agitated, but you still don't understand.

When you move your arms to cross them, the person seems to take it as a threatening action. You feel a heavy impact on your skull and lose consciousness again.

Later, you reawaken to find yourself bound once more.

    A sharp pain. Darkness.

    YOU HAVE DIED

You awaken back in your glade not long before the sun sets.

    You check.

    Death Penalty
    Experience Debt: 250

    -1 to all Ability Scores.
    (11:59:53)

Thankfully, that penalty hasn't gotten any worse. The XP debt is subtracted from your current total though.

Your hearthstone is also unpowered when you check it.

Arelyn sat up and a cleared the grass from her hair. She growled in annoyance.

“Dammit. That does it, I’m going to make it my life’s quest to kill all those tree hugging pointy eared npc’s,” she said, “at least the ones in that forest.”

She checked her hunger status and then ate some more of the meat until she was full, then rested until her timer ticked down to zero. Once the hearthstone was powered up again, she drank some more xp water, made sure her belly was full, and went rabbit hunting.
