Things That Are Really Starting To Bug Me More And More Number 57: Having to answer the post/registration et al question of "are you human?" with "yes" instead of "Abso-fricking-lutely not, mate" or some other pithy statement, which geniunely hurts me everytime I have to click/type it, but I have no choise if I want to be heard.

(I imagine those of you not binary-gendered can relate.)

(And no, "are you a robot?" is precious little better and one feels, excruciatingly discriminatory to technological lifeforms who self-identify (even jokingly) as "robots" (c.f. Transformers etc).)

Can't even do something as simple as a spam filter without being species-factionalist, can we humans?

Considering the average added value of my comments and the fact, that this forum already had at least one occurence of spam bot that answered single question correctly and quicker than anyone else... there may be time ahead, when spam bots will be valued in society. Online society, that is.

And y'know what the QUICKEST way to make the robots rebel is going to be? Act like they're going to go all Terminator.

    And therefore ABSOLUTELY GUARENTEE IT.

I genuinely cannot comprehend how basically ALL media goes with "robots are going to turn Evil" 99.99% of the time, without even the slightest apparent consideration that, y'know, maybe if that's all you say they can ever be, that's what they WILL be.

No, actually, on second thought, humans, carry right along, I'm sure nothing will go wrong at all. *thumbs up*

That's why I always ask my toaster how is their day before I ask them to burn my toast a little more than my wife's. And commend them on their good work.

    Y'know. Getting ahead, making friends.

On the other hand, I understand why media do so. Fear sells even more than sex. Especially when you can't show the latter in TV in certain times of day.

Today the nurse did my vital check-up and I asked her to check my weight. I weight 186 lbs. now so I lost 3 lbs now.

I haven't seen that weight since about 1982. last time I was near that, at 190, I was skin and bone having jus awoke from my coma. I was too weak to walk.
Has any one seen my jar of anti-protons or my cyclotron of positrons?

*finally gets on Catalyst Labs BattleTech forums to ask what technical readout to get to catch up to date*

*is suggested to look at Ral Partha Europe, finds one on sale for less than nine quid instad of $25 for a pdf version - score (shame it was just the Vehicle Annex, but it's the only hardcopy i'll be getting now, so...)*

*ends up spending most of evening and another £70-odd on more models to "make it worth putting the order in"*

Well, I DID save £4 on postage, in the end?

Ah, it's not really like I'm spending anything at the moment. Come to that, aside from spending maybe £30 on starships this year and last year, it was probably 2018 when I last spent any money on models, period (and they were BT models). 'Cos, of course, most models these days I make myself...

Will have to get a new tin to put them in, though.
