Hmm.

Out of boredom, I'll just start tapping on the stone floor.

[Rizban]

The sounds of scurrying change as you start tapping. Soon, they sound as if they're getting closer.

A minute later, a furry head pops up out of the "drain" hole and looks around the room, beady eyes fixating on you.

[Evoker]

Huh.

I'll look at the rat, and wave my hand, seeing how it responds to the movement.

[Rizban]

It aggressively squeaks, leaps from the hole, and attacks you.

Thankfully, it appears not to be diseased, even if it is a bit filthy...

[Evoker]

Egh.

I'll respond with an attack utilizing Shadow Blade Technique.

I'll use the 18 to hit, for total 4 damage.

[Rizban]

The manacles entangle you, reducing your attack rolls by 2, but you still manage to hit, killing it easily.

Egh. Disgusting. I would have expected that monster hostility would be turned down in 'civilized' areas...

[Rizban]

The dead rat continues to be dead and the continues to be dark.

[Evoker]

I'll toss the rat corpse down the "drain".

[Rizban]

You hear a splash from below, and the stench increases as the fetid air below is disturbed.

[Evoker]

I gag a bit on the stench, backing up quickly.

[Rizban]

After what seems like an eternity but is likely no more than a few minutes, the smell dissipates... or maybe you just get used to it. It's hard to say for sure.

[Evoker]

Hmm. It might have been preferable to die to try out the respawning mechanic, rather than sit in this room.

I'll start tapping the floor again, seeing if it summons another rat.

[Rizban]

With no way to mark time, you soon lose track of the passing of the minutes... or maybe hours? You aren't sure, but you're getting hungry. You realize that you've stopped tapping at some point and resume making noise.

Eventually, you hear the telltale sounds of scurrying and another rat sticks its head through into your cell.

I'll ready an action to attack it if it tries to attack me, using Shadow Blade Technique.

And once again...

Well, I could presumably just keep grinding rats for a while, until someone comes to pick me. up. But they give so little experience that it's hardly worth the effort...

[Rizban]

Your voice sounds oddly stifled in this tiny, stone room as you pontificate on your situation.

[Evoker]

I could try sleeping, I suppose, and hope I don't get awakened to a rat gnawing on me.
I'll lay back, and try my best to get comfortable on the rock with manacles strapped to me.

[Rizban]

You manage to sleep for a few hours, though you're unable to stretch out in a room that's smaller than you are tall and awake fatigued.

You also awake to find a small, wooden bowl of some sort of mashed food and a clay cup of slightly murky water.

[Evoker]

I'll poke at the food, and try to get it down quickly. I'll wash it down with the water.

[Rizban]

The mush is some sort of boiled plant. It's very bland and surprisingly inoffensive, certainly the best tasting prison food you've had. The water is a bit earthy but fresh.

Despite the small amount of food and water, you feel rather satiated.

Hmm. Well, even though grinding the rats might be 5% faster now, I still doubt it's worth the effort...

Despite my words, I'll quickly return to tapping the stone in an effort to provoke some reaction.

You watch the countdown timer on your buff slowly tick down... It's the only thing that changes noticeably throughout your day... night?

After about 30 minutes passes, you hear a faint squeaking, and a rat pops its head out through the hole and sniffs around.

[Evoker]

Hello there. Are you going to attack me as well?
I'll gesture towards the rat corpse on the floor.
As you can see, it's probably not going to end well for you. But who am I kidding, you're a rat, there's no way you can understand or comprehend what I'm saying.

[Rizban]

In an obnoxious, squeaky voice, you hear, "Well, that's just rude."

The rat ducks back into the waste hole and disappears.

[Evoker]

Wait what? Was that just an auditory hallucination brought on by boredom, or did that rat actually speak to me?

[Rizban]

You aren't sure, and the rat does not return to answer your questions.

[Evoker]

Hmph. I was probably just imagining things. But next time I see a rat, I'm still going to have to wonder, won't I. Shame I apparently insulted it, even if it's just a hallucination some sensible conversation would have been nice.

[Rizban]

You continue to wait, I suppose...
