Default What are the good forum-hosting websites nowadays?

It can't be Reddit, because Reddit threads' tree-like structure is really not what I'm looking for. I need a traditional forum (like this one) where posts are in chronological order and where threads get "bumped" by new posts.

Back in the halcyon days of the 2000's, I was a member of a couple of Invisionfree forums, but apparently it no longer exists.

I never visited those (I think), but I miss the old days of the internet.

There are a couple other forums I visit powered by phpBB. My wife has some writing forums she frequents that also use that format. They work pretty much like the GitP forums. Here's a link to an example, The Piazza.

So you're looking for web hosting options that include support for message board software?

    Which is absically everyone.

That is probably the only option avaialble nowadays. (Other) social media killed the generic forum providers most likely. Used to be a number of them.

I really like NodeBB, Vanilla Forums, and Discourse.
