Question Origin of "Clerics Can't Use Bladed Weapons" Rule?

    Greetings!

I heard the origin of "Clerics Can't Use Bladed Weapons" was because of a Biblical passage where Jesus said that a man of the cloth shouldn't use a sword. (I couldn't find this reference upon Googling and presently assume it doesn't exist.)

What is the true origin of this rule?

    Thankee!

The Mod Ogre: Remember that religious references, even chasing down rule origins, are against the rules.
