Resource for running a 1930's film noir game?
I want to set up a simple d10 game where my players are noir private detectives in New York. Can anyone point me a list that shows typical prices for the kinds of things players will want to get their hands on; weapons, cars, suits, services, etc?

It runs Savage Worlds rules, but Deadlands Noir might work.

A 1930's Call of Cthulhu sourcebook might have pricing info too.

Re: Resource for running a 1930's film noir game?
Thr 5th edition Call of Cthulhu had a bunch of mid-1920s prices for the American east coast area, since that was the general setting.
Try finding some period newspapers in the area that you're loiking at. If you're lucky a local library will have them scanned or on microfiche. It was also the era of the early mail order catalogs, you may be able to find samples of those.
If you're desperate call or email the nearest university history department. They can at least point you in the right direction to look for information.

Newspapers also often have adverts in them.
Alternatively, fudge it? Your players aren't going to research it. Get a rough conversion factor from comparing a handful of things or by looking up an article on "inflation" on Wikipedia until you find one, then just make a note to yourself along the lines of "things cost 200 times less".Resident Vancian Apologist

That gives a conversion factor of 16 from 1930 to 2020, 15 for 1925 and 19 for 1935.
So, dividing by 20 is probably fine for all practical purposes.Resident Vancian Apologist

You may want to dig up a copy of the old Gangbusters RPG. It was designed for role-playing in the '20s and '30s

I think, therefore I get really, really annoyed at people who won't.
