D&D 5e questionnaires
hey so I'm doing a small math project and I'm able to use D&D 5e as my main area of research, for this reason I'm aiming to get data about people's opinions on a variety of things (somethings a lot more specific than others) so I'd appreciate it if people answer questions in a few questionnaires. There are a lot of questions so please don't feel like you need to do every single question on the document, a few answers here and there would be great and there's only a few required answers for some of these. If you do go through it thanks a lot

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1uZM...cTXx22Eyc/edit - questions about spellcasting and spellcasting dnd classes
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1y8y...nuLxOUR-8/edit - questions about martial classes
please don't think you need to do every question cause there's a lot, some here and there is good enough.Last edited by Bannan_mantis; 2020-08-11 at 07:52 AM.

Re: D&D 5e questionnaires
Your martial questionnaire did not have an option for Paladins that prioritize Cha before their offensive stat. I would go Cha 18 long before Str/Dex 18.
Start Cha 16+, Str/Dex 14+, Con 14+
Cha => 20, then consider Str/Dex => 16, then consider Str/Dex => 18 vs Con => 16.
Edit: And those specific monsters in the main questionnaire lead to some strange answers. Especially the one about Hags. I am sure our circumstance there is an outlier.Last edited by OldTrees1; 2020-08-11 at 10:58 AM.

Re: D&D 5e questionnaires
I left the array answer blank, all the tables I've play at so far have been rolled stats. 4d6 keep 3, 5d6 keep 3, 4d6 keep 3 re-roll 1's, 6 players, each roll 4d6k3 make up the array used across the board.
78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.
92% of forum users no longer put made-up statistics in their signatures. If you're part of the 8% who still do, copy and paste this into your signature.

Re: D&D 5e questionnaires
Hi! Please post a summary of findings when you have enough results.
If you haven't done it already you might want to post to some of the other D&D forums to try to get more responses.
Also, the question about monsters was a bit strange since how often specific monsters might show up is extremely campaign dependent. I've never run into some of the creatures you mentioned so I added Never :)

Re: D&D 5e questionnaires
Yes it is. Page 13, PHB, "You generate your character's six ability scores randomly". Standard array is mentioned later as an alternative, point buy as an explicit variant rule.
For forum discussions point buy or standard array are easier (as wizard_lizard also says) but rolling is default by the rules.
