"Whatever you did, it didn't do anything noticeable." The lizardfolk continues to perch in the tree, though his tail twitches as he doesn't want to simply sit around any longer.

The man works his jaw a bit awkwardly as he says, "I'll have to disagree with you on that. I've never heard of 'Ssralish' as a language before."

He shrugs. "Like my message said, the name's Iriander. Ready to kill some spiders? I've got a quest for it, too: the spiders are rapidly expanding their territory, I'm supposed to kill a whole bunch of them and find out why they're expanding so rapidly."

"Lizardfolk language... I've seen your summon's combat ability. You've seen my aura can deal cold damage to enemies. I can change it to provide healing up to half your total hit points, if we get too damaged. If we're ready then?" Ssrask stood on his limb, wings opened and ready to leap to the next tree.

Iriander returns his attention to the forest floor, looking for spider tracks and the like, as well as webbing in the trees.

The number of spider webs continues to increase, but many of the spiders seem to be missing while the rest are so small that you couldn't even call them "monstrous."

In the distance ahead, however, you note that the terrain changes somewhat drastically as the amount of webbing increases...

Iriander knows that spider webs aren't actually flammable. They will melt and shrivel up when exposed to heat, but they don't typically catch fire. It can catch on fire, but everything around it will catch long before it does.

Upon seeing the webbing get drastically thicker, Ssrask leapt down from the tree. His wings allowing him to fall any distance without any damage. He fell in line with the trio.

“Okay, well, that’s a nightmare-scape,” Iriander says with fake cheer. “So I have some old torches I could maybe relight and we could use the fire to burn the worst of it away. The webs are fresh, so they won’t even set fire to the trees.”

Iriander kneels down to gather some twigs and leaves to start a small fire. He takes out one of his old torches and hopes that it’s still good for some use.

You easily light the fire and the torches.

Iriander offers one of the torches to Ssrask if he’d like it. If he doesn’t take it, he gives it to Berserker.

“Berserker, keep an eye out for spiders.”

The summon dutifully looks around the area for signs of spiders. If he says he does not see any, Iriander starts to melt the webs on the ground to start making a sort-of path.

Iriander shrugs. He decides to keep hold of both of them, then, so Berserker is free to attack.

”Oh? Do you have a patron deity already, too?” Yes, ‘as it were’ implies it’s not a real religion, but Iriander’s a talker.

[Rizban]

Berserker stops to point towards movement that he's spotted near the heavily webbed tree.

”Keep an eye on that tree, then, Berserker, Iriander says. “That’s probably where they’ll come from once I light up the web.”

Carefully kneeling down, keeping an eye on the heavily-webbed tree, he begins to set the flame to the webbing on the ground.

Berserker and Ash are both taking Total Defense. If possible, Iriander will as well, if he can set fire to the web as only a Move Action.

You torch away the webbing, and the occasional normal size spider flees the fire. A few aren't quick enough and are trapped as the web melts around then, soon succumbing to the flame.

You manage to progress about ten feet before Berserker waves wildly, and you look up to see a horde of spiders emerging from the webs around the tree.

You immediately see (4d6)[9] tiny monstrous spiders, but that doesn't seem to be the end of the swarm.

Doesn't make a difference to me. May help keep track of things, now that we have four "characters" with the PCs. But I can still handle Theater of the Mind.

Ssrask moves to stay within 30 feet of the man and his pets. "Stay close and my aura will finish off the tiny ones within two turns."

Iriander nods. "Berserker, back off, but stay close enough to back him up."

The summon nods, taking up a position 5ft behind Ssrask. If any of the spiders manage to close in with him, Berserker attempts to cut them down. Iriander and his wolf, for their part, set up behind Berserker and ready themselves to defend.

Four Three of them move to attack Ssrask, provoking AoOs from Berserker, but not Ssrask, who took a Total Defense action.
