Financially, the short answer is "doesn't matter." Speaking purely from a revenue standpoint, the primary role of the comics is test lab for stories, characters, and above all writers that can succeed in far, far more profitable media. Actively publishing various comics also allows them to maintain the rights to various characters, as well as link their new ones that resonate with audiences to this or that existing property.
This is not to say that the comics and those who prefer them to other media don't matter - just that they can serve as loss leaders for the overall brand without any true risk of outright cancellation. If the comics do poorly enough/lose enough money, at worst Disney may shake up their leadership or put certain titles on ice for a while, but Marvel Comics themselves will never stop publishing.Plague Doctor by Crimmy
