The problem, at least for Roxana and Sabrina is that Roxana had never even heard of the Fearsome Foursome before this morning and while Sabrina knows about the four types of demons in general, she really doesnt know the Foursome either. Neither of them really know anything about this specific nalfeshnee.

In terms of Rennador specifics, they know that the three drow that currently rule the city are evil, however, they are not demon worshipers. They all have no love for Lolth and her allies, in fact it is believed that two of them follow Syndra (Queen Sascha and her #1 arcane advisor, Alicia), with the last one following Nocticula (Shandis). Almost everyone who holds some sort of position of importance in Empire governance is either a demon worshiper or conceals it well enough that they arent questioned on it, and that becomes a problem for devils to gain inroads with them.

However, as the two sit considering their options at an Inn (not the Dew Drop, obviously), a man approaches them, seemingly trying to make sure no one sees him coming up to them. You two look like you are from out of town, no? And by the looks of you both, you seem like you might be competent adventurers?

Naturally, Roxana/"Ava" has Sabrina's/"Serena's" arm around her as they chat about seemingly everyday things while telepathically doing their actual discussions, the brachina playing the part of traveling with her lover. Roxana looks to the man with her usual dazzling smile, the sight of her and her closeness to Sabrina making for quite the view.

"We just arrived in town, and we may have had a few... adventures" "Ava" casts a faux-innocent look to her lover. "Who might you be, and would you like to share what brings you to us, or should we go somewhere more private?" The man feels like that last word was stressed in a meaningful way, but perhaps it was simply his imagination.

Please don't worry, my lady, I will not have him delay us for long. He may unknowingly hold an opportunity for us, or at least know about the going-ons in this city. At worst, well... he will excuse himself soon enough, Roxana assures Sabrina. She was not assigned to assist Sabrina for nothing, so seeing if such chance meetings might lead to something relevant or not falls very much into her specialties. If nothing else, another seed can be planted.

My name isnt important, but I represent a group that has...issues...with the current form of government, and some of their actions. We arent anywhere near strong enough nor widespread enough that we could even consider toppling the current Queen or changing the government completely, but we do have an issue with a recent arrival, we dont know if it came at the behest of the Queen or one of her advisors, but we want it gone. A diviner in our group predicted the arrival of two adventuring women who would be able to aid us or do it all themselves, and we have had people watching all the gates for the past few days. I was lucky enough to spot you. Have I peaked your interest?

They will not interfere. I will earmark them for potential future use, however, whether to take a fall or perhaps disrupt Rennador.

Roxana listens attentively to the man's words. She has been blessed with much good fortune in the past, all the way back when she was still an angel spreading and experiencing so much love among mortals. Once again, fortune smiles upon her, wishing her to spread her love further, this time by guiding this man to her by ways of prophecy.

"Ava" considers his words, looking sympathetic to his cause, and smiles to him. "You have found the right women, honey," she says, and the man feels a wave of relief and warmth. He has found the saviors he was looking for, feels it in his heart, like a fairy tale moment becoming reality and much more. The woman speaking to him understands him, and he can tell her everything.

"Ava" rises, walking to the man and taking his hand (leaving it up to Sabrina if she wishes to join or leave the information-gathering and conditioning to her assistant). "Come with me. Our room is shielded from any unwelcome ears and eyes."

And unless he refuses, Roxana takes the man to the room she rented for Sabrina and herself, seating him on the settee there. Of course, the room is not shielded... yet, but a few subtle castings fix that easily. "Ava" locks the door, pulls the curtains, and sits so very close right beside the man. "We can speak freely here, honey, you are in good hands. Tell me more about this recent arrival that troubles you and your fellow heroes so." He could tell her anything, recognizing his bravery in opposing the rulers of this city and coming to her, understanding him like no one ever has.

Then switches back to Motivate Charisma.

Should they go to her room, she casts privacy and zone of silence, and lays a silent image over the borders of the room perfectly replicating the room, but without occupants.
Bluff check to hide those castings (1d20+88)[92]

Bluff check for Roxana's seduction ability to have him spill everything he knows about this arrival... and the group he is working with. Max DC is normally 50 for extremely obscure secrets, and if she beats the DC by 20, she only needs charm to seduce him and it takes 1d4+1 minutes.

Sabrina takes the man's other hand and accompanies him to the room. They can throw dice for who gets his soul later, if it comes to that. When Roxana seats him on the bed, she takes a position behind him, letting him feel her body against him, and begins to gently massage his shoulders and his head, getting him to relax even further, falling under Roxana's spell and making him talk even more.

The hapless contact has no chance against the combined talents of the devils and is quickly completely under Roxana's spell. Questioning him, the two devils quickly learn that his "organization" is a joke, and would be totally overwhelmed if Sascha and her council ever decided they were a credible threat. While they at least do the usual strategy of being cells of 3 with only one person having contact with the other cells, its clear they have no any sort of structure and nowhere near enough numbers and powers.
However on the subject of the new arrival, it seems like they at least have the right of that, if it is to be believed. They are convinced that the arrival is indeed a nalfeshnee and while it is not clear as to whether the demon was summoned directly by Sascha or by one of the lesser council members, she at least has not ordered its eviction, and it has taken up residence in an abandoned portion of the imperial palace.

The chance of doing more than restoring Rennador's status quo not manifesting after all is a little disappointing, but it would have been a mere bonus anyway. With the answers coming so eagerly, Roxana does ask him about what he knows about the nalfeshnee, as well as the abandoned part of the imperial palace and where it is. Once he has said all he knows, Roxana releases the man back into the world.

"You have been a great help, honey. Go back to your fellow heroes, sit back, and let us get this new arrival out of the way of your great cause. For your safety, do not tell anyone of us, only that the matter will be handled. It will a secret between just the three of us." A playful smile dances across Roxana's lips as she watches the man leave, never even having told him their names, but he, too, will always remember those two amazons (especially when he is alone), with no woman managing to compare in the slightest. There is no time for anything more, and upon his eventual death, the brachina is certain his soul will find his way back to her. They all do, eventually. In the meantime, the Sirrus Gem must be found.

Further questioning of the man does not reveal any more information about the nalfeshnee, however he does reveal a secret, back entrance to the palace that is only guarded by someone loyal to their cause, and he will be told to be "elsewhere" when they make their approach. The man also tells you that your time in the abandoned part will be limited, there are wards and secret alarms that will be triggered by your presence. The response will probably not be immediate and not be full force (at first), but as a few guards fail to return from checking it out, eventually someone important enough (like maybe Shandis) is going to come and see what is happening.
The man stumbles from the room, being released from the brachina's spell...Sabrina probably would have claimed his soul right on the spot, but realizes he does have to report back to put the plan in motion.

The good word will be spread. But one always has to assume the enemy has people looking into movements like this one.

~Quick in and out it is. I will make us invisible and inaudible, but more to catch those who will come looking for us off-guard. An invasion of the palace will not be looked kindly upon, but if we are in luck, there will not be attempts of retaliation for more than that if the nalfeshnee was not summoned by the leadership and more imposed itself upon them. Let us stay here for a moment while the way is paved for us,~ Roxana shares via telepathy. A bit of time needs to pass for the man to return to his people and tell the guard, so she does follow the man with her natural clairvoyance/clairaudience for a bit to judge if he is going towards the palace, and from there, she should be able to estimate the time needed to meet with the guard and tell him about the two amazons.

Sabrina waits until Roxana indicates that the man has passed the information on to his contacts and for it to filter over to the palace guardsman. Once this has all happened, she gears herself up for battle and leads the way, stealthily, to the back entrance. If the guard has indeed gone on his "rounds", she leads the way through the gate and up to the castle, checking for locks and traps before pushing open the door.

With her zone of silence still active, Roxana casts both haste and invisibility sphere in order to facilitate the quick in-and-out, and perhaps give them the element of surprise on whatever guards they may run into. She has no illusions about the nalfeshnee, figuratively and very literally given the true sight. With Roxana being unusually quick for her kind, and even moreso when hasted, Roxana simply slides an arm around Sabrina's waist and lifts her with little difficulty (also helping with keeping the mighty erinyes inside the spells).

~Direct me as you please,~ Roxana telepaths, also adding the notion that she will let go of her as soon she wishes or combat occurs. Without further ado, the silent and invisible pair jets through the corridors, in search of the nalfeshnee.

    Spoiler: OOC
    Show
Roxana has a perfect fly speed of 100ft when hasted, and letting go of Sabrina is a free action, so Roxana can get them through the building more quickly and leave Sabrina's actions untouched for when she wants to do things. While hasted, she can also do a run action to fly 400ft, followed by a normal move action (due to Swiftblade) for another 100ft. If there more corners to be taken, she simply triple moves for 300ft.

The plan works well, as the pair zips around a few halls and rooms quickly. At one point, the pair are in what appears to be an abandoned library, when 3 guards enter into it. The zone of silence and invisibility would be enough to defeat them, but suddenly from another location in the room, they hear some chanting, and they are hit with a Greater Dispel Magic, revealing them. Roxana spies the nalfashnee as the source of the GDM, but before she can take action, he teleports out and the guards need to be dealt with.

And just like that, the moment to overwhelm the nalfeshnee came and went. Just like that, the demon could be absolutely anywhere in the world (or multiverse) now. To say that the brachina is disappointed in herself for not having been able to catch the demon would be an understatement, especially since it by now knows devils came after it. The "stay" is the equivalent of an off-handed gesture towards the guards, not deserving any attention.

~Ignore the chaff, we need to go. If the nalfeshnee is an absolutely brainless idiot, it is still in this building somewhere, otherwise we lost our only lead to find it.~ With that, Roxana flies over the heads of the guards, continuing the search for the nalfeshnee.

I think I may have an idea in that regard. Just wait a minute

Sabrina casts, using a Wish to mimic Discern Location, having managed to see the nalfeshnee once now (albeit only a quick glance), she can use this spell to try and locate him. She turns slowly in place, the spell takes a full 10 minutes for her to track, but its power is such that any attempts to prevent scrying are defeated.

Sabrina pauses at the end of her spell and immediately relays the location to Roxana. The brachina takes Sabrina's hand and casts her teleport, bringing the devils right in front of the nalfeshnee, in what looks like it used to be a dining hall of some kind. Shocked at the devils popping into existence in front of him, and with his invisibility negated by the devil's true seeing, the devil will have to fight, but Sabrina has the drop on him. (i.e. no initiative needed)
But almost simultaneously with the devils teleporting in, one of the drow leaders (alerted by the death of guards and a teleport being cast inside the palace) also teleports into the room, its Shandis, the warrior member. Fortunately she is at the other side of the room, but she is moving towards the situation.

Sabrina knows full well who Shandis is and has no desire to engage her, even if she is as good as her, that vorpal weapon is a great equalizer. She has only one chance to deal with the demon, and thats to put everything she has into her attacks. She wraithstrikes her weapon, goes for a power attack (+20/-20), and uses a 9th level spell to add even that much more damage to her strikes. Telepathically, she communicates with Roxana the moment he falls, teleport us out of here.

Being commanded to teleport, Roxana obeys and teleports them to the indicated location. The next instant, she spots the nalfeshnee, Shandis, and the nalfeshnee having been butchered before she can urge her superior not to. Watching the pile of flesh disintegrate and return to the Abyss, the brachina hopes it will take a long time for the demon to reform and then inform the rest of this "Fearsome Foursome".

Roxana, seeing Shandis for the first time in person and Sabrina's apparent fear for her, gives the drow a look that could melt glaciers. "May we meet again in more comfortable circumstances, love." The blonde devil smiles and disappears with Sabrina. Just as Shandis is a grave threat to them... just because she is part of a ruling class does not mean she is invulnerable. Afterwards, Roxana jumps 20 times to different points in Daystor, at times traveling a distance through the air before teleporting again and jumping from hard to discover places, before ending up on a discreet roof in Kroy.

~I took the liberty to put us in the succubus' territory, since I do not believe we have any leads for the rest. We need to be very careful. At the very least, she will be very well-connected and a potent sorceress to have earned such a title, regardless of the nalfeshnee having been a chump. At worst, she practices witchcraft like I do, and in that case, whoever identifies the other and shoots first will take over the other's mind forever, and there will be nothing the other can do. If this is the case, the succubus is by far the most dangerous member of this foursome, no matter how many people the marilith can annihilate or whatever power the balor can field.~

With a quick veil spell, Roxana changes their disguises, both still being amazons, but with altered features, hair, glamorous (and revealing) dresses. Roxana alters Sabrina's look as she desires, while she gives herself a look that unmistakenly identifies her as a courtesan fitting the lurid nature of the city (if playing up a faux-saintly fetish). The next instant, they are on the ground, in a back alley, ready to enter the city.

Sabrina's blades are a whirling death machine and caught unawares, the nalfeshnee is no match for the empowered erinyes. With barely a chance to get out a strangled death croak, the nalfeshnee disintegrates into a pool of steaming ichor. As it dissolves however, a golden key falls from a necklace that was around its neck, and seeing as Sabrina is already in his face, she is able to grab it just before the brachina teleports them away from the drow and her dangerous vorpal blade.

(Ugh, of course I had to forget something. There goes that idea. Today really isn't my day.)

"One of four keys needed to open some sort of chest, and if I had to guess, that is where the gem is. We might as well bring this back, but we still don't know how the marilith got into the palace." Roxana plane shifts them back to the base.

The plane shift brings Roxana and Sabrina back into Askaretha's palace and the pair immediately head to their Queen to report. Its obvious when they walk into the meeting that Askaretha is not in a good mood, clearly, the teams dispatched to do battle with the Fearsome and get the gem back have not had any success. As they wait to report in, they hear a report given from a very badly wounded gelugon, apparently Mephistopheles launched a probing attack (although it cant be proven beyond a doubt that it was him) against one of Askaretha's bases in Stygia, and while it was repulsed, its clear that some of the Lords may be trying to see if something is up with Askaretha and its not making her mood any better. As usual, Glasya is at Askaretha's side, giving advice if she is asked but her support for the newest Lord of Hell might be wavering.
Sabrina gives her report, telling about following the portal through to a mountain outside of Rennador and engaging the nalfeshnee inside the palace and having to kill it, as Shandis was a third side in the triangle...along with getting the key. When she is finished...Askaretha almost explodes.
SO YOU FOUND NOTHING? I send you out to find how they penetrate my defenses and you come back with excuses and failures and having to kill the demon with the answers? And all you can bring me is this meaningless key...that you think might be the way to open some chest, and you think the gem might be inside it? Theres so much guesswork in that, it boggles the mind. I BEGIN TO THINK I MIGHT GIVE YOU TOO MUCH LENIANCE. Never have I seen you fail me like this. She does take the key. See if you can accomplish the simplest of tasks without screwing up again.
And with that, there is nothing more to say, Askaretha turns her attention to one of the reports and Sabrina can only slink out of the hall in shame...with Glasya studying the situation.

Sabrina cannot believe what she is hearing, never has Askaretha spoken to her in that way, and so publicly shamed her. A cornugan happens to cross her path after she leaves, and the frustrated erinyes bashes the crap out of it, not caring that a death in the Hells means a permanent loss of one her Lady's soldiers. She returns to her room, not quite sure of where she stands and where she should be going now.

Roxana, while being higher than most among the members of Askaretha's court, nonetheless is a mere servant in comparison to Sabrina, not daring to speak when not prompted. Once more, she can only notice that Glasya is examining this state of affairs and that Roxana knows (and is trying to mend things in turn). With silence and the deepest bow, Roxana excuses herself once more from her mistress' presence, just as she did at the start of this particular assignment. Seeing the disintegrating remains of a cornugon while she searches for the erinyes only underlines the gravity of the situation. She knew this one, having attended one of her reward ceremonies not long ago, reserved for those who had served well in the recent past. Not the central recipient, but in the audience. Slain indiscriminately in a fit of rage, as erinyes kind can be prone to. The means of revive outsider are beyond her arcane magic, and while she has done much to make incorporeal spirits like ghosts and banshees feel alive, outright reviving them is outside her particular means.

Gliding just above the floor in silent grace, Roxana navigates to Sabrina's room. The erinyes cannot be left in such a state. While strategically, she is an open wound for Askaretha and her court, and the predators are already smelling the blood in the water... Roxana has ever been involved in the matters of the heart, for good or ill.

Sabrina hears a soft knock on the door, and a telepathic ~May I come in?~
