When the baby is born, it will then placed in a scanner which identifies the "fittest" father! For Science!

    New comic

I love how Agatha it the only one looking exited.
Everyone else seems either nervous or ready to fight.
And the Vozzler is doing that thing where you give a really scary first impression.
Mostly obscured shadowy, not entirely human looking figure with glowy eyes?
That's either a fight or the friendliest guy ever.
My quatloos are on the latter.

My theory on that (which isn't of my own invention, I just can't remember where I originally read it), is that iin the original outline Tarvek was originally supposed to die somehow, but that the Professors have decided to keep him and so introduced Martellus to take his place (and his death).

Vozzler was already a friendly guy to begin with, so an easy bet.

It's true that, in general, it makes you wonder why reality still exists. Maybe Sparks have some extreme fugue state that triggers to reverse their actions and avoid annihilation of reality by their own hands (like how one Heterodyne destroyed his machines when they summoned otherworldly creatures). Maybe that's a side result of having top sparks like Klaus or Albia or Voltaire, or minions like Violetta. From this point of view, Gil looks like a worrisome successor... But then, his daddy did too summon horrible interdimensional monstrosities.

Could always be faked. Who knows how many „They are beginning to trust me. Soon I will be freed and then I will conquer THE WORLD! MUHAHAHAHA!“ scenes we missed on account of him being imperceivable.

Nah, not really, it's just, the whole presentation of the cliffhanger is so... “a wild villain appears” that even if he hadn't been presented as a nice guy I would've bet against it.
The villain thing, not him being friendly.

Vozzler is Lucrezia, copy #N for large N. You read it here first.

More likely those are the "I'm surprised by what just happened" eyes rather than the "I'm pure evil and about to start killing" eyes.

In fact, since we know time travel is on the table and Karl is out of sync with time, Karl may be one of the party's future selves.

Most Sparks aren't talented enough. Of the ones who are, most of them don't have the resources/education to create a world-killing machine. The story is focusing on the absolute top tier Sparks, and I've always had the impression that they are strong Sparks even by that standard.

Additionally, this world-ending machine is being created by several of said Sparks working together. That never happens.

The Von Foggs are vaguely based on the Foglios, right?

I was sorta expecting a scene change, and I don't mind holiday filler, but another flash-forward where they spend a month dancing around not revealing how the main story ends is going to be annoying. I really hope this is the last time they do this.

So the Foglios are descended from Oggie? Much becomes clear now. Soon the Experiments will manifest their Jagermonster powers, and then THEY'LL SHOW US ALL MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Or not. But anyway, cute strip.

We may not be in for a lengthy diversion - I can't blame them for serving up something frivolous while digesting Thanksgiving.

Really, the only digression I have disliked was the "Extra: Nonsense from Professoressa Foglio", and mercifully that was only Monday and Tuesday.

It's a known side effect of interdimensional travel. You've seen the documentary Into the Spiderverse, right?
