Looks like a cross between Mardi Gras, the Philadelphia (New Years Day) Mummers, and maybe the sacking of a city.

Come to think of it, I'm a bit bummed that the Mummers were cancelled this year. Someday I'll go see them in person, rather than just on TV.

I'd add the celebrations after a national sports championship. Which, granted, often resemble the sacking of a city.

    Not technically true.

There are rules about who counts as a Disney Princess. They need to be:

    Animated
    Human
    Royal (or conspicuously heroic)
    and
    Not introduced in a sequel

Leia and Amidala are most definitely Disney Princesses according to these criteria. They are both human, royal and not introduced in a sequel (It was PREquel for Amidala). And they've both been animated in at least two shows: Rebels and that recent miniseries for Leia, Clone Wars and that same miniseries for Amidala.

    Spoiler: TROS spoilers
    Show
Sadly, the "no sequel" clause disqualifies Rey even though she's the granddaughter of the Emperor and thus technically a deposed princess.

I'd argue that a Disney princess has to be the protagonist of the work in which she appears.

Except that would disqualify Jasmine, who is not the primary protagonist of Aladdin.

Edit: I like the additional qualifier that they have to have a cutesy animal companion. That probably disqualifies at least one of the established princesses (Snow White maybe?), but still...

Snow white had the classic sleeping beauty/cinderella "All animals inexplicably like me" trait, so no need for an animal companion, because they all liked her.

    The Empire'd say so, yes.

Other than that? Only if humans count too.

Those animal companions typically showed an approximately human level of intelligence. What is the practical difference between an animal with human intelligence and an alien species that speaks a language comprehensible to only few?

Social recognition. Even though only Han can understand Chewbacca, everyone else considers him a person. It's been a while since I've seen any Disney movies, but I don't think any of the princesses' animal companions are treated as people by anyone other than themselves (except in Tangled, where iirc the horse becomes the captain of the guard).

Except for most Heterodynes, revisiting their past atrocities would inspire fresh atrocities as they remembered motivations for vengeance and pillage.

IIRC the Dyne was supposed to be the home of some supernatural entity (Battle Goddess?) Maybe this is the current manifestation of it?

Pretty sure that "goddess" was a Queen from Albia's club. What with the Mirror in the cathedral and all.

That's definitely a Queen's Mirror, but there's no proof that it's associated with the shrine that later got turned into the Dyne, and thus it can't be considered evidence that the battle goddess said shrine was dedicated to was a Queen.

Technically there's more than just the mirror and the dyne having a battle goddess to base the idea of the goddess being a Queen on.

The Dyne can instigate the transformation of a Spark into a Queen, as was seen when Agatha drank a glass of water from the spring, and confirmed by Albia when saying that she could tell Agatha had gazed into the infinite.

It seems reasonable to assume that if a Queen ascended by use of the properties of the Dyne and then became worshipped as a god that the spring would become associated with the 'divine' nature of the Queen.
Sanity is nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
