Books with 5e warlock style pacts?
I'm looking for stories where the protagonist makes or has made a pact or deal with another entity that's similare to warlock pacts in 5e. Meaning not just to demons or other planars but also objects and powerful magical creatures are on the table. An example from literature would be Hugh from Mage Errant.

Well, Faust and Faustus are the obvious examples.
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell involves several pacts with an Archfey.
In the storyline of Magic the Gathering Liliana Vess makes pacts with several demons for power and eternal youth.
Various works of Lovecraft definitely inspired the Pact of the Great Old One. Though it's mostly the antagonists doing it.
Gravity Falls has an episode where the main character makes a pact with a chaos entity for knowledge. It's a bit different in that the chaos entity, being a chaos entity fulfills none of the terms of the agreement.
Ghost Rider comics is another deal with the devil.
Silver Surface is more deal with a Great Old One. Just one that is strikingly more coherent and humanoid looking than normal.Last edited by Dienekes; 2020-09-24 at 09:55 PM.

The Stormlight Archive has this, though to go further in details is rather spoiler-y.

How about Puella Magi Madoka Magica? It takes the modern concept of the Magical Girl and wraps it around a Mephistophelian pact.
Yes. there is a manga - several in that universe in fact - for those curious.

One of Stackpole's short stories did this, which I think was reprinted in Dragon magazine. More interesting than Vancian magic style fire and forget spells.

The Bartimaous Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud - Wizards in that world have no power but that which they get by pacting with Djinn/Spirits. Mostly the Wizard is in charge in a master/servant relationship, but the premise of the books is that some Djinn hold far more sway than would be expected, leading to more classic Warlock-like situations.
