Re: Worse Than the Disease IC
Having finished with the first round of looting and leaving the second and subsequent rounds to Waffle House men, Sean examines, with Richard's assistance, the workshop and the radios, to have an evaluation of those, both in terms of capabilities, and in terms of estimated market price. He also tries to estimate if the workshop is actally transportable, if with some effort. He asks if Waffle House men have their own workshop back at base and if they mind transporting there another one, for the team to use during their stays and for the hosts to use when the team is not there. He also asks if Waffle House mobile team currently has a radio.
Sean's proposal for future actions is as follows:
1. The team gives away 9 light torso armors, for the Waffle House people to have along with bear traps and whatever else they might loot here. This should cover their involvement here and keeping and handling the prisoners short term.
2. The team deposits 20 sentry armors and 26 winchester model 92 rifles for a total account balance of 6768 rifle cartridges to be evantually repaid by services and suchlike. The team will take back the sniper rifle and the assault rifle previously allocated with the Waffle House when they next leave the site (probably along with some paid troops, we'll see), but the garage allocated to the team stays allocated as long as the account balance is at least 1000 cartridges in the team's favor.
3. The team will stay with the Waffle House for some time starting right now, providing some additional security in exchange for medical services.
4. Waffle House men consider performing, one after the other, two tasks paid from our freshly-made account:
4.1 A shopping and delivery run Waffle House to Gunmetal to Radar Base and back.
4.2 Escorting and guarding the would-be power-plant operators, with the team remaining on call for anything they cannot handle themselves.
SpoilerWhat is size and TL of the two radios we have found?

Re: Worse Than the Disease IC
The vehicle workshop is good quality equipment (worth 3000 rifle bullets and weighing 2000 pounds in all), the depot radio is somewhat basic but it can reach a good distance. Any settlement would love to have this equipment. The radio in the cabin is better, and smaller.
The workshop is not transportable (at least, not by one person or very quickly) - it would take a bigger team of people and a fairly big automobile. The Waffle House settlement has a mechanic's workshop of its own, but it can send a team here to man this one. The mobile team has a radio in their car.
The Waffle House crew goes along with Sean's proposal. They contact their base about the account and the value of the goods. They arrange for further medical treatment, back up, and the two tasks given to them. What do the exiles want to buy from Gunmetal?
The radio in the cabin is a TL 8 medium patrol set-up with a long-range antenna (70-mile range). It's probably worth about 4,000 rifle bullets.
The motor depot radio is a medium TL 7 set-up with a 10-mile range. It's been set to lower bandwidth to boost range for receiving. The market value is 2800 rifle bullets.
(OC: each rifle bullet is basically $10, remember.)Anachronism will never high-light the folly of my convictions!

Re: Worse Than the Disease IC
Sean will leave the workshop to Waffle House men without affecting the balance if they agree to let the team have unrestricted priority access to their existing workshop at their main base. Given that we won't use that workshop 24/7 or maybe anywhere close, the Waffle House should be better off overall. As for the radio that comes with it - they can have it, but it will affect the balance. The team will have the other radio, along with its antenna.
As for the shopping, Sean would like to:
1. Buy two suits of armor (except the torso pieces, which we sort of have).
2. Buy some bullets, bullet components and TNT to replace our spent ammo.
3. Buy some cheap weapons for would-be power plant operators to have them all armed at least to some extent.
4. Transport ten suits of armor from here to Radar Base.
5. Transport 500 pounds of food from here to radar base.
Sean will provide the exact details and stuff for sale before the team tasked with it would depart. If Waffle House people want to buy something too, it's possible to wait until they have sorted through the loot of these two locations. If that won't be enough, it's possible to extend their balance (Sean will provide stuff to sell), but then this whole trip will not be charged against our account.
Sean then contacts power plant people and asks them if they are fine with the plan as described by Sean. They'll have to run an account (of about 500 rifle bullets if it would be 10 rifles, 10 shotguns and some ammo for them, exact details debatable), and they will not be alone either way, but having them all armed might still be advantageous to the success of their mission. They can repay by providing electricity or by handing the weapons back to Sean when they feel they are no longer needed.
Meanwhile Sean has some question for Richard to find answers to as he reads through the papers:
1. What was this base's (and battle bus') exact coverage? Did it include Gunmetal or its close surroundings?
2. What is known about (other) base(s) that have coverage of Gunmetal area?
3. What is known about base(s) that have coverage of power plant area?
4. Where are two other shelters located, what are their numbers and what it is said about them in general?
5. How the location we have triangulated corresponds to locations marked on maps and mentioned in the papers? What kind of facility is there and where exactly it is?
6. Anything else of particular interest encountered while digging the above info. Sean thinks we should read through them all, but this might take some time.
SpoilerAlso, I have just noticed we are on page 50, so maybe it's time to start another thread. Yay the anniversary!Last edited by u-b; 2022-01-08 at 04:17 AM.
