Question about shocking grasp and reactions
What happens if an opponent triggers my opportunity attack using their reaction and I hit them with shocking grasp? Do they lose their reaction attack that triggered the shocking grasp OA or does it still go through?
For example: My opponent holds their action to attack my familiar since it's been using the help action to give me advantage in melee. I have shocking grasp, sentinel, and war caster. My familiar's turn comes up (an owl with flyby) and when it enters melee range, the enemy uses their reaction to make an attack against it. This in turn triggers my sentinel, allowing me to make an opportunity attack against and war caster allows me to use shocking grasp. I hit with shocking grasp, preventing my opponent from taking reactions until the start of its next turn. Does their held action still happen since it was what allowed me to use shocking grasp in the first place or does my attack interrupt their reaction and cause them to lose it?

Re: Question about shocking grasp and reactions
Sadly, the enemy attack is resolved before your sentinel attack comes through.
Besides that, since that specific sentinel attack is not an opportunity attack (but just a random attack made with your reaction), it is not eligible for warcaster so shocking grasp is a no-go.

Re: Question about shocking grasp and reactions
On the other hand, by using their reaction, it is already expended, so you can do whatever until their next turn.
