Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
I love the smell of a fresh voting thread in the morning. We've had dome time to think about it, with relatively few changes in the last two weeks, so I'm ready.
My votes are:
1st pick/3 points Exemplar Rogue.
Because teaching as a concept doesn't really have a mechanical place in d&d and this subclass finds a way. I'm also just plain a sucker for skill monkeys.
2nd pick/2 points Chef Fighter.
Because it's super flavorful yet not too complicated nor too powerful but with a good amount of new content to it.
3rd pick/1 point Savant Sorcerer.
Because while I still have my doubts about how balanced Callosal Spellcasting is, the rest of the subclass certainly succeeds in giving the feeling of a one school specialist spellcaster without simply piling on too much power. I think going sorcerer rather than wizard was a good choice for this.
As for the next contest, pooh, I guess...
2 points for Something Borrowed, there's a certain charm to "I'm trying to build a multiclass character, but one that actually works" builds.
1 point for It is Written, because prophecies are practically fundamentally incompatible with tabletop RPG's so this calls for some major creativity.Last edited by Lvl 2 Expert; 2020-10-20 at 05:02 AM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
All right! First time voting!
Contest Votes
Number 1- Monk's Way of the Intercepting Fist: I'm a fan of Bruce Lee and I like the simplicity and elegance of this. Plus, it gives more to Monk.
Number 2- Cleric's Luxury Domain: There's five stars and then there's this. It's a fascinating view and a reminder there are gods of plenty and they would have their own followers. Who says wise folks can't enjoy the "good life"?
Number 3- Sorcerer's Savant Origin: Honestly, surprised this isn't already one. It's pretty practical and focused on slinging spells so there's a fair bit more flexability than most Sorcerers I notice.
Next Contest Theme
Top Pick- Refine Mayhem: Let's face it. At least most of us looked at a subclass and thought it had some good ideas, but wasted potential. So, let's roll up sleeves, flex our brains in admiration of our smarts and creativity in front of the mirror and go to work.
Runner-Up- It Is Written: This sounds intriguing and I'm wondering what there will be more of, following/maintanance of destiny or defiance of such?Last edited by CountDVB; 2020-10-20 at 01:00 AM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
- Artificer Specialization: Game Master - BeserkerUnit - I love both the concept and the actualization of it. It's got great flavor and great
- College of Fate's Beloved - Phhase - I can't not vote for this subclass. It's just funny and awesome!
- Ranger: Unerring Marksman - Sengmeng - This does a great job giving Rangers a reason to stay in the class instead of multiclassing. It gives some great option and opens up the class more.
- Bunch of Fives
- Refine Mayhem

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
1. Circle of Crystal Druid. What an aesthetic.
2. Dirty Fighter Rogue.
3. Chef Fighter. Comedy
A lot of good work went into many others, special shout out to Pharmacist Ranger, a very intriguing concept.
Next time: scaling strangely or bunch of 5s.Last edited by BerzerkerUnit; 2020-11-02 at 11:32 AM.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
1) Artificer: Game Master. Clearly a lot of thought and detail went into this, and it looks like a lot of fun to play.
2) Ranger: the Pharmacist. Basically, this is the sort of thing I wish I had made.
3) Druid, Circle of the Crystalline. I'm biased, but this looks like a clever way to get past some of the Concentration obstacles, and I like that.
Special shout-out to the Iron Chef Fighter! I can't vote for four, but I can say I appreciate your work too!

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
1) - RickAsWritten's Crystal Druid Crystallix druid! Didn't expect it, but it's got a deliciously eldritch flavor with unconventional but highly destructive abilities. Nice.
2) - Damon_Tor's Savant Sorcerer "Hey can I copy your homework?"
3) - sengmeng's Unerring Marksman Something something poor lonesome cowboy a long, long way from home.
1) Scaling Strangely - (knuckles crack)
2) It Is Written - There are some possibilities here.Sometimes, I have strong opinions on seemingly inconsequential matters.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
1. Ranger: The Pharmacist
The subclass represents an unique and thematically appropriate take on ranger class.
2. Wizard: School of Comprehension
Absolutely love the idea of a wizard learning spells encountered on their path.
3. Ranger: Unerring Marksman
Another mechanically and thematically interesting take on the ranger.
New contest themes

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
Fighter: The Chef. Carrot-slapping and pie throwing is just too amusing, plus it actually works as it is.
Rogue: The Exemplar. Really leans into the personally mastery theme, and gives skill checks something fun to do at the same time.
Cleric: The Luxury Domain. Opulence as a divine mandate. It also really approaches spellcasting in an unusual way.
For theme, my votes are Something Borrowed and Scaling Strangely.Currently operating the 5e Subclass Contest and the 5e Base Class Contest. Check them out if even just to vote or give feedback, we love that in there.

Re: D&D Subclass Contest XVIII Voting Thread
Alright I haven't forgotten about this, and it's time to declare our winners!
In third place, with six points earned each, we have a tie between Edea's Luxury Domain and Ilerien's Exemplar Rogue! One's opulent, the other is optimal, which will you pick?
In second place, with seven points apiece, we have a three-way tie between BerzerkerUnit's Game Master, RickAsWritten's Circle of the Crystalline, and Lvl 2 Expert's Pharmacist Ranger. That's too many different things to easily make a joke about, but good work all three!
And in first place, with 11 points earned, we have nickl_2000's Chef! Let good food be your good fight, but don't forget to eat it too!
For themes, it's a little more cut-and-dry. Something Borrowed took the cake with 9 points compared to the runner-up Refine Mayhem at 6. We'll see Refine Mayhem again in next contest's voting pool, and we'll see Something Borrowed II on its own thread shortly.Currently operating the 5e Subclass Contest and the 5e Base Class Contest. Check them out if even just to vote or give feedback, we love that in there.
