    Default PEACH: Time Collector (Custom Monster for Pathfinder)

    Hi guys! Been awhile since I was on here, and WOW, have things changed! If Im posting out of format, feel free to let me know. I had the creature nicely formatted, but something was lost in the transition to here. I couldn't figure out an easy way to attach photos, so I just skipped that for now.

    Id appreciate any help and feedback on the monster below. Thanks in advance!


    This clockwork creature resembles an automoton mosquito comprised of glass and gleaming black adamantium. It has a pair of wings created from a small clockface, a glowing green beaker for an abdomen , and a needle-sharp proboscis formed from a wickedly sharp syringe. Its small legs end in tiny mechanical pliers. A green viscous liquid can be seen throughout its arcglass form, and leaking from its proboscis.

    SPECIAL ABILITIES

    Attach (Ex)

    When a time sucker hits with a touch attack, its mechanical legs latch onto the target, anchoring it in place. An attached time sucker is effectively grappling its prey. The sucker loses its Dexterity bonus to AC and has an AC of 12, but holds on with great tenacity and inserts its proboscis into the grappled target’s flesh. A time sucker has a +8 racial bonus to maintain its grapple on a foe once it is attached. An attached sucker can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself—if its prey manages to win a grapple check or Escape Artist check against it, the time sucker is removed.

    Time Drain (Ex)

    A time sucker drains the essence of time from its victims at the end of its turn if it is attached to a foe, inflicting 1 point of Dexterity damage. Once a sucker has dealt 4 points of Dexterity damage, it detaches and flies off to deposit the essence back at the hive. Unlike other forms of Dexterity damage, a creature reduced to 0 dexterity by a time sucker dies. If its victim dies before the sucker’s appetite has been sated, the time sucker detaches and seeks a new target. The body of a victim slain by this ability dissolves into dust, as if millenia had passed since its death.

    Freeze Time (Su)

    A creature that takes damage from a time sucker's Time Drain ability must make a DC 14 fortitude save or become stuck in time for 1d4 rounds. The creature is effectively Slowed as the spell during this time and takes all associated penalties. Once a creature has saved against an individual time sucker's Freeze ability, they are immune to its ability for 24 hours, but not against any other time sucker.

    Time suckers, more properly known as Time Collectors, were created by Gerald Tarrant, the Prophet of the One God, before his Fall. Designed to collect power from his willing citizenry and livestock to power his arcane foundries, the kingdom he built; the Cathedral itself.

    After his Fall, the Time Collectors were weaponized, and used to collect energy from the willing and the unwilling. Flocks of them were released onto the Allied Armies to devastating effect, leaving nothing but a field of abandoned arms and armor amongst the piles of ash. Since the end of the Dread War, the time suckers, as they are colloquially known, have continued as they were designed, though no one knows how the essence they collect is being utilized without their creator's guidance. Rumors of massive mecha-insectile creatures inside the nests of the time collectors have arisen from time to time, but no proof of these so-called Queen's have been found thus far.

    While weak individually, swarms of the creatures are capable of draining a man dry in minutes, leaving only a pile of ashes in their wake.

    Designed to mimic mosquitos, time suckers carry their bodies through the air on two delicate arcglass wings that resemble a clockface when at rest. Their six tiny legs are multijointed, and end in tiny plier like feet. Their eyes are multifaceted green gems, and their bodies are comprised of arc glass; they typically glow green from the essence they have collected.

    Time suckers are typically 6 inches long, with a wing span a foot wide, and weigh just under a pound; they are surprisingly heavy due to the adamantium used in their construction. Time suckers do not communicate with other species, though they do have a rudimentary intelligence.

    They constantly hunt for energy, but do not actively try to kill their hosts; they seem to understand that killing their host reduces their food supply on some basic level. If a host fights back, the time suckers move from nonlethal to lethal attacks, and will swarm the target en masse. Some people and communities allow the time suckers to feed willingly to avoid their wrath; even creatures of animal intelligence have been documented doing so, and the time suckers have been observed protecting "their" herds.

    Time suckers are most often found in Revival era ruins, especially on the island of Gai-Ryn, and the remnants of the island Melchor. They build massive biomechanical nests that can extend deep underground. They typically hide within the ruins until night time, and then try to attach and feed to creatures that are sleeping during the night. After feeding they retreat back to their hive to deposit the collected essence.

    Construction: The secrets to the construction of Time Collectors are lost at this point. How they have managed to maintain their number's after the disappearance of their creator is an anomaly that the sages have not found an answer to yet.

    DESIGN NOTES:

    It was based around a stirge, and I only slightly changed its stats- basically increased its dex to give it a bit more oomph.

    *I need to change the initial description to depict its tiny size.

    With an Int of 3 they should be able to understand a language even if they cannot speak.

    Also, how do get BAB +8? It has ONE HD. It's BAB should be +1. You say you based it off a Stirge in Pathfinder but those have BAB+1 too. Not sure how you did that. Str 3 is too low. It should be a tad stronger than that. It should probably have Str 5 or so.

    Con is not 0, it is a construct so Con is —. A creature with a Con 0 was alive and is dead. Constructs were never alive to begin with.

    P.E.A.C.H. Please Evaluate And Critique Honestly. Being nicer and kinder doesn't hurt either. Note I generally only critique 3.5 and Pathfinder material.
    Please, please, please when using non-core material, cite to the books. There are too many books to wade through to find the one with the feat, special ability or spell you use.
