    After Rodrik is gone with the clamshell, the fog slowly starts to dissipate. What's left is the original amount of mist that always was hanging around the island.
    For a while you can hear a loud singing over the lake. Rodrik goes over a repertoire of bawdy drinking songs and some children's rhymes. Then the sound drifts to silence.

    Maria collects the cord that was uniting all of you.
    This won't be needed for now.

    What you have is just the island then. You can see the hill with the building. You see the thicket where the trees are most abundant.

    As you walk slightly closer to the island's center you see that many of the trees are dead. Branches have been broken. Bark has been cut maliciously. There's signs of small fires.

    You hear a familiar buzzing at the thickest collection of woods. It seems that not all of the pixies have left.

    The building stands on a small clearing on the hill. It's slanted roof is made of clay tiles. The roof is held up by a seriers of marble columns. In front of the building there once was a marble statue but it's toppled and broken into pieces so long ago that it's difficult to figure out what it represented when it still stood.

    Worn marble steps lead a person to the area under the roof. There's a marbleblock that has a basin carved into it. It looks like hands used to be washed here. At some point a red dot was painted next to the basin but that too is almost worn away. A set of stairs goes down into the hill.
    Near the stairs there's a toppled brazier, made of metal, now rusted. There's small animal bones near it. The whole building seems to be a temple entrance.

    "I really hope he didn't just find a noble way to sacrifice himself for us," Chazwick whispers. "I'm pretty sure I could have made it back. I'm almost positive Caex would."

    "Anyway, I vote we avoid the center of the island. It sounds like most or all of the pixies are there. The, uh ... temple? Might be worth investigating. But maybe all of us shouldn't go, in case there are pixies in it. It should be me, or Caex or both... and maybe Maria."

    There's no buzzing of wings to be heard near the temple. Instead as you walk nearer to the stairs you find that someone has positioned three small twigs into the shape of an arrow onto the second step.

    There's no recent tracks in the area so you suspect the sign was left by one of the pixies.

    You find no traps on the stairs. While you inspect the area you do notice that the mist seems to be just a little bit stronger in the area of the temple and even more so at the stairs. Maria lights a torch.

    The steps lead to an underground corridor that has side alcoves on both sides. The end of the corridor is far enough that you can't see it immediately. You can see some skeletons laid out in the alcoves and a few other corpses just laying in the hallway, these too probably decades old.

    You can see one of the more recent bodies on the floor twitch and then it rises up facing you.

    Caex hits the creature twice and notices that the undead thing seems particularly susceptible to bludgeoning damage.
    It collapses but three more of these undead things rise out of alcoves, lift assorted weapons and approach you.

    Maria reacts to one of the skeletons coming near her by giving it a whack with her axe. It's not a particularly strong blow.
    On her turn she casts protection from good and evil on Chazwick.

    Caex manages to swat one skeleton to death with her staff and gives the final skeleton a punch in the jaw. The skeleton's jaw drops but it keeps fighting...

    As do the next two skeletons that appear from the side corridors with bows.

    The one skeleton attacking Caex misses, almost dropping it's weapon.

    The two archers aim their arrows at the closest target, Atronia at the front. Magical protection from undead guides the arrows far from Atronia.

    On the map you're at the rightmost end where the stairs have just stopped.
    Maria's torch has max visibility of 40'. You don't actually see the end of the place but I don't want to make a new map for you for every 10' you advance. The skeletons are now walking in from the two siderooms. From the sounds you hear, you suspect there's a good number of them coming.

    Chazwick sees that Caex has started using the blunt side of her spear, winces at the fact that he's been trying to cut bone, and gives the nearest skeleton a headbutt.

    And you said I got sneak attacks against these? Then (2d6)[9] for that.

    Chazwick barely misses the skeleton. Where normally he would hit a living person's adam's apple with a crushing blow he meets emptiness.

    Maria swings her axe to finish the skeleton wounded by Caex and now only the archers are ahead of you.
    Maria stays firmly behind the frontliners keeping her mind focused on the protection chant to cover Chazwick.

    Atronia and Caex charge the two archers and crush them into piles of bone dust with their powerful attacks.

    Caex sees beyond the torch's flame 5 more skeletons waiting. Since her whack with the spear's blunt end destroyed one of the skeletons she punches another one down with her fist.

    The four skeletons attack Caex and Atronia, both getting two opponents. All of the skeleton's strikes miss, whether due to Caex's crafty dodges or Atronia's plate armor. Three more skeletons clatter in from the side corridors brining their number up to seven.

    Maria advances to stay near the frontliners, revealing what Caex sees to Atronia as well... the torchlight makes the opposition all too clear. Maria's swing misses this time.

    Atronia was not entirely surprised by the number of skeletons pouring out. She'd heard enough about these kinds of undead to know you typically don't find them in small number. As so unperturbed (at least in the tactical sense, she sure didn't love looking at them), she gives another swing of the mace.

    Atronia swing her mace in a wide arc and the blow destroys another skeleton.

    Chazwick gets into melee as well but his headbutt fails to crack any skulls. The skeleton's helmet was a little too tough.

    Izzarra whacks one skeleton to pieces but doesn't quite hit with her punch when she tries to smash another one.

    Two of the five skeletons strike at Atronia, once more their strikes bouncing off the strong armor. One of the strikes seems to aim at weak spot in the armor in the neck but divine magic protects Atronia.

    Caex dodges the attacks of two other skeletons with ease.

    THe fifth one strikes Chazwick with a shortsword for five damage.

    You see more skeletons lining up from both siderooms, two more push into the room, these are wielding halberds. One of them manages to hit Caex for seven damage. The other one swings at Atronia but misses.

    More interestingly though, the path deeper seems to be quite clear. The smokey mist that fills this island seems to be coming from somewhere further on.

They're two small a unit to shout tactical orders to and they already knew there were going to be a bunch of skeletons to fight their way through. So she just keeps on swinging her mace.
