Pheandar, On the way to the bridge,
11th Gozran, 2 AM.

The refugees and their heroic leaders begin their flight in earnest. Despite all attempts at haste time is working against the survivors. The battle, if it can be called that, is all but over. There is an increasing Hobgoblin presence in the streets and signs of resistance are few and quickly and brutally snuffed out. The size of the survivor group makes moving undetected challenging and eventually your good streak of luck runs out.

An Ironfang squad consisting of a wolf, three hobgoblins and led by a Bugbear stumbles upon your band of survivors on the way to the bridge.

The wave of scintillating riotous color washes over the front line of the squad and only one hobgoblin manages to get it's arm up in front of it's eyes in time to block the effect. The Wolf, and two other Hobgoblins are unconscious on the ground.

Adowyn, Walter's last spell decimated the enemy combatants. What do you do?

The Bugbear, cunning yet cowardly creature that it is, steps back from Walter should he cast more heinous magics. Draws a javelin, and throws it at Adowyn who is blocking his shot to Walter! The Javelin sails harmlessly wide of Adowyn and the rest of the party.

Adowyn's blade lands with a sickening squelch and a burst of arterial spray killing the hobgoblin at her feet.

Leryn follows orders and darts in to bite at the helpless prey before it. The hobgoblin engaged in combat with Perwialen takes a swipe at the opening, but doesn't connect with the pooch. The distraction though weakens the bite leaving the Hobgoblin Scout mangled, but alive.

In order to end that part of the brawl as soon as possible, Perwialen taps into their psionic reserves.

"We have to get rid of them !"

Their swing almost takes the standing Hobgoblins head. Almost. A desperate deflection from it's shield prevents the almost certainly lethal blow.

Threatened by it's close calls dodging Perwialen's Blows, Hobgoblin Blue sends a powerful blow Perwialen's way. The blow clashes against their armor, but Perwialen is left unharmed.

The Bugbear, seeing no further magics cast towards it, steps forward drawing it's morning star as it does so. It sidesteps Leyrn's reach arriving right before Adowyn and unleashing an overhead strike. The blow is half-hearted and easily deflected by Adowyn.

I don't use the Laying Waste rules for Crits including Coup De Grace. I rolled for Adowyn's damage, but it ended up not mattering because the Hobgoblin rolled less than 10 on it's Fort save vs death.

The Hobgoblin Scout however survived the damage Leyrn did and made his Fortitude save.

Unfortunately, the Bugbear was more wary than Caliban expected and caught Caliban on a backhanded swing of it's Morningstar for 6 damage. He plants his feet and attacks the bugbear while flanking with Leryn, but his recent injury throws off his aim and he misses both strikes.

Adowyn calls out a worldless battle cry, practically snarling in the face of the towering bugbear before her. She gets Leryn's attention and calls out, "Leryn, attack!" while pointing to the bugbear. She then waits for Leryn to strike before making her own attack.

She doesn’t wait long as Leryn lunges forward to bite, but is warded off by the Bugbear’s shield.

This does leave the Bugbear open to Adowyn’s strike for 7 Damage the Bugbear narrowly avoiding a more fatal blow.

Still raging, Perwialen keeps trying to get rid of one hobgoblin. Their Scythe swings out and catches the Hobgoblin in the throat for 26 damage killing it.

Realizing that the tides have turned well and truly against it. The Bugbear attempts to withdraw from the melee it finds itself embroiled in. Both Leryn and Caliban try to take advantage of the Bugbears retreat from battle but both miss.

"Stop him!" he says pointing. With a grunt of frustration, he then focuses on finishing off the remaining 'orc', hoping the more agile and/or ranged of his allies could deal with it.

"Stop him!" he says pointing. With a grunt of frustration, he then focuses on finishing off the remaining 'orc', hoping the more agile and/or ranged of his allies could deal with it.

His blow lands on the slowly recovering Hobgoblin sending it back to unconsciousness with 14 damage. Positive energy surges from the strike and flows into Perwialen for 3 Positive and drawing 4 Blood Pool.

Standard action: Fire the tangleshot arrow at the bugbear's touch AC. Being invisible denies him his dex to AC and gives Caliban a +2 to hit.

Tangleshot: (1d20+5)[8], deals no damage, but the target is entangled and moves at half speed. DC 10 Reflex save or be stuck to the ground. Lasts (2d4)[2] rounds.
