Trying to find illustrations for crazy magic land, any help?
i have some large areas of my world that were ravaged by magical accidents in the past. now everything living in them is mutated by wild magic. I thought it would be great to represent this in battle maps, but i can't find anything fitting.
Some of the descriptions I gave
"the trees and grass are in all the colors of the rainbow, plus some colors that shouldn't exhist at all"
"the wildlife resembles its normal counterpart on most aspects, though every animal shows signs of mutations; most have tentacles, or extra legs, or other stuff they shouldn't have"
"some of the grass does not move with the wind, and it tries to grab you as you pass. some of the trees also move; you wisely keep clear of those"
Any idea where i could find some fitting image? I attempted "psychedelic landscape", without much success. I think some artistic movement painting stuff in false colors may have something I could use, but no idea what to look for. illustrations made for similar fantasy concepts would, of course, be the bestIn memory of Evisceratus: he dreamed of a better world, but he lacked the class levels to make the dream come true.

Sounds like a cross between the DnD feywild and far realm.
Here are two neat pictures I found of the fey wild.

Speaking of mutations on animals: DND has tons of weird animals like the famous owlbear and the displacer beast.
You mentioned tentacles: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/fo...east_-_p81.jpg
There's also this weird monstrosity: https://s3.crackedcdn.com/phpimages/.../631437_v2.jpg
You can have animals that have fused with elementals like this thing: https://s3.crackedcdn.com/phpimages/.../631446_v2.jpgBlack text is for sarcasm, also sincerity. You'll just have to read between the lines and infer from context like an animal

Look up the movie annihilation. It's exactly what you're looking for.

Keith Thompson at Keiththompsonart.com is pretty good for this. Not all illustrations are SFW, so go in advised.

If you want some stuff for the seriously weird parts- not just mutated, but straight magical landscapes, Steve Ditko's Dr. Strange work could do the job- it's straight-up surreal.
