    Default A Concerto Of Death [OOC]

    Please repost all details.

    Oh, and feel free to make up to two Knowledge checks on your foe. Each check can be rolled, with Bardic Inspiration, Guidance, etc., or a single use can be used to Help another person's check, granting them advantage.

    Spoiler: Backstory
    Show
    Born the illegitimate son of some nameless warrior, Reykrís life has revolved around conflict. His childhood was spent in the supply trains of campaigning armies, studying the weapons and tactics in use, and he quickly developed a talent for violence. With the size and strength brought about by his orcish heritage, it was inevitable that he would be thrown into the front lines as soon as he was old enough to use a spear.

    Where others might have struggled, he thrived. In a few short years he grew from a green recruit to a mighty warrior. But for all his prodigious strength and skill, this was still eclipsed by his dizzying intellect. He saw the grand scope of a battle with the same ease that he swung a sword, and found other scholarly pursuits no harder. Eventually this was recognised by a renowned battle mage, and he was soon able to add the arcane arts to his impressive list of talents.

    With time, his knowledge grew, and his perspective shifted. The lore that he read made petty mortal wars seem insignificant. So many horrors lurked beyond the veil, unknown by most, but no less dangerous for it. He withdrew from military matters, dedicating his full efforts to combating these eldritch threats, wherever they emerged. Something big was coming, and he had to be ready for it.

    Arcana DC 28
    Your foe has powerful magic at their disposal, supposedly granted by gods themselves. They work heavily on the auditory spectrum, and have ways of straight-up blasting down weak Silence spells and similar. They are also very long-ranged.

    History DC 29
    This being has existed since before time. Its sounds herald the end of days, and those who hear its music are deaf to all besides the music of the apocalypse. Non-magical weapons bounce off its brassy exterior, and even magic fails to do much unless quite powerful. Even when it does suffer damage, it is quickly mended by its melody.

    Mechanical Details In Less Flowery Prose
    It's got Regeneration and a Damage Threshold.

    For those who don't know what a Damage Threshold is in 5E, it's where if you do less than X damage, that damage is totally ignored. If you do X or more damage, the damage goes through normally.

    Yeah, nothing new from that.

    Also, I'll let Lord of Gifts ask up to three questions that I will either answer truthfully or declare null. If declared null, you can get another question to replace it.

    I forgot about those! Let me adjudicate.

    Nature DC 19
    The being is an outsider, an entity from beyond the world. It has no living parts-it is a construct, made of brass.

    Religion DC 21
    Your enemy is supposedly an angel, though of what god, none know. Its terrible and awesome fanfare is capable of striking those who hear it incapable of thought-sometimes, they are made to flee in terror. Other times, they fall to their knees in reverence of it.

    Question 1: Is it known to have any particular resistance or vulnerabilities?

    Question 2: Has it shown the ability to counter magical effects beyond Silence?. (Does it have Counterspell/Dispel Magic?)

    Question 3: Is it particularly evasive and graceful? (Does it have a good Dex save?)

    Q1
    It resists Radiant and Necrotic damage.
    It is immune to non-magical weapon attacks, thunder, and poison.
    It is potentially vulnerable to Silence-like effects, but can bypass them.

    Q2
    It cannot directly counter a spell as it is cast, but it can dispel ongoing effects.

    Q3
    While it's nimbler than you'd expect for its size, it is not super good at dodging.

    Uhm, may I ask if this immunity includes the attacks made with Psychic Disciplines like Bestial Claws?

    Bestial Claws (1Ė7 psi). You manifest long claws for an instant and make a melee weapon attack against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, this attack deals 1d10 slashing damage per psi point spent.

    It would, unless you can get them magical.

    Edit: I'm looking at your sheet.

    Bunny, Mystic was never approved. It was never even asked for. It was not on an allowed source.

    I agree, but not too enclosed - let's have some space to maneveur if needed.

    So, about what my character could do:

    - I can try to Counterspell the enemy's spells;
    - I can use Countercharm to counter its aura;
    - I can try to blast the enemy with Chain Lightning (it can dispel ongoing effects, so an instantaneous spell should go through);
    - I can heal the party;
    - I can share Inspiration;

    I have other spells at disposal, but I'm unsure they would be useful (e.g. Silence seems ineffective against this enemy).

    Lukas is a paladin, which comes with paladin stuff. Hitting things, smiting things (stupid resistance to radiant), occasionally buffing or healing.

    A cathedral would be nice - spacious enough so we can maneveur but not so much that the enemy would have a range advantage over us; plus, it would be thematically fitting to fight an angel (supposedly) in a religious building.
