    Default Void Trader IC

From across the planes and the multiverse, The Dock District is the planar port by excellence. Even in the City of 7 Seraphs, it would be hard to find a more diverse population and transient as well, Vanara seems to be very numerous all over the district, running various shops or helping planar travelers with their cargo or guiding them around the district. Men, women with skins made of earth, hair of fire, insectoids, aliens, merchants, and traders from all across the multiverse come to buy and sell their wares, while others are headed to other districts in the city.

You are in the Mithral Garter or Garter by the locals, bars, brothels, powder den, and many other businesses are all gathered here, as everything is considered legal here. It's a corner of the Dock District that the Master of the Dock, turns a blind eye to. Bards and at least as many assumed to be, offer epic performances gathering outsiders and other beings who appreciate one form of music or another. Some even performing music and styles that you have never heard of.

Like many privateers or self-made entrepreneurs or maybe because you are already under contract, you are headed to the Exchange Alley to hear about your privateer job. This is the place to go for ship supplies, look for jobs and contracts, and of course find many fine establishments that are willing to take coins from you or exchange currency as well.

Jahig is your contact, a female humanoid with yellow skin, flat nose, looks almost alien at first glance,(for sake of visualization, a githyanki) wearing a glamorous dark robe waiting at the Exchange, the main store of the Temple of Coin in the Exchange Alley.

'Parities'... the concept seemed absurd to the young mage. Balance was certainly the way of things when it came to planar cosmology, but surely it was as simple as creating a great beacon of captive negative energy to serve that purpose, rather than splitting into some arbitrary formation of 'light' and 'dark' organizations? Though if he were ever to engage seriously in a discussion on the topic, he'd be forced to admit that if the solution were so simple then someone would have tried it by now. Or, perhaps it was a political problem rather than a practical one. Maybe some long-ago prankster convinced or forced others to concede that their unsavory way of life was necessary to preserve 'the balance' rather than pursuing a better solution. Perhaps those dark organizations now held sway over things, and were loathe to give up the excuse for their existence. At least it meant that necromancy and other magics his brother would have considered unsavory were openly taught and practiced here...

Though it had been years since Paz left his family home, it had been just under two months since he'd found his way to Hyraeatan. The sights and sounds of the marvelous city were still quite new to him, even though in that time he'd managed to worm his way into the good graces of one of those parities, the city's Bookbinders. Perhaps he'd only reached a superficial level of respect with them... But by all accounts the whole organization was a gold mine of magical secrets, alongside more boring kinds of secrets. The surest tip-off that they were worth the time is that they did not brag about these hidden lores. Clearly that meant they were worth keeping hidden, and therefore very much worth knowing.

These and other thoughts occupy Paz as he idly watches a fire-juggler's performance. He'd left early for the meeting, but it had occurred to him that he should arrive slightly late. Best to be sure that tardiness or setting a toe out of line would be tolerated. If not, it might be better to think of this as only a temporary arrangement.

And so he arrives at the Exchange a fashionable six minutes late. Long enough to be noticed, yet short enough by his own reckoning to not be worth objecting to.

Better for a githyanki with their long memories to think of you as the girl who shows up early than the one who arrives late.

Confident in the doubly assured knowledge that A) she owns nothing worth the fight she would put up if someone wanted to steal from her, and B) Who in their right minds would just cause trouble for a bear in the first place, Ursula remained unwilling to risk an employer's ire She'd been sitting around for some time now, preening her snowy pelt idly, having commandeered a table for the rest of the team.

Nobody wanted to fight her for that, either.

A tall catfolk woman makes her way through the throng. She sticks out a bit in the crowd; not only for her wardrobe choices, since long duster jackets and wide-brimmed hats in that style are uncommon in the City; but she also acts like she doesn't belong, being subtly ill-at-ease and being easily distracted by the unfamiliar sights and sounds of the Garter. She's navigating by means of instructions scrawled on a small piece of paper.

Finally she arrives at the Exchange, and goes up to the unfamiliar yellow-skinned woman. Some kind of orkin, she ponders to herself? She draws forth a bundle of official-looking documents. "Yer Jahig, right?" she says with a drawling accent that draws the Gith's name out like 'Jaheeg'. "Priss Vincent. Ah unnerstand Ah'm to meet ya about a job on a pirate boat? Ah've got mah contract right here, signed, sealed, an' delivered." She unrolls the bundle, showing them for inspection.

Chews walks across the city in his human form in a confident and dexterious way, glad to be sure of not having to worry about it miniature size. As he walks across the city for his appointment, he wonders about the details of his new job and the colleagues on the new endeavour. He could only hope for an easy and quick job to increase his earnings. Chews couldnt exactly remember about the time when they were supposed to meet so he decided to arrive earlier than the approximate time that he remembered.

The steadily increasing Mithril Garter foot traffic past the nameless drinking hall that soaked up the last of Elimrys's coin last night eventually rouses him from his slumber. Swinging his feet off the heavy oak table in what could generously be called a patio, he leans forward and lets the front legs of his chair hit the ground before standing up and stretching with a groan. Taking a few moments to straighten out the worst dishevelment among his clothing, he tries to make himself more presentable before setting off for the meeting.

By the time he arrives at the Exchange, Elimrys is walking with his usual confident, rolling stride and ready to hear about the new job. He approaches the familiar contact with a broad smile, "Jahig, what do you have for me today?" Well, perhaps that was a little too familiar, but he had shipped out on a few contracts for her before. He was pretty sure it had been her, anyway.

Priss notices the shadow fey approaching and frowns, feeling like she knows him from somewhere. Then she recalls, didn't she meet him the other day at that one bar? He bought her a drink - or did she buy him one? She can't remember, it was a little hazy.

She gives a smile and wave to him. "Howdy there..." ...what's his name again? Elmer? Elmris? "...pardner. Fancy bumping into you here. You looking to ship out?"

Elimrys returns the wave and takes a step closer to offer his hand, sensing the stumble over his name, "Ah, hello again! Priss, was it? I'm Elimrys, or Elim if you're in a hurry. Well, my coin has an unfortunate habit of relocating to tavern coffers at a truly alarming rate, and I turn to those like our esteemed patron," gesturing to Jahig, "to fend off penury and, in turn, sobriety. What brings you into such mercenary service?"

Looking around, Elimrys seems to notice the others watching or approaching, and nods a greeting to them as well while waiting for Priss's response.

The catfolk pauses at Elimrys' question. How much about her plight had she shared with him that night? She couldn't remember.

"Well, ya know, Ah've been a little down on the ol' luck since arriving to this fair city, an' I'm fixing to improve mah lot. Ah was reliably informed that someone of mah particular talents would be appreciated among the crew of a vessel conducting impromptu customs interdictions and confiscations outside of the normal extent of territorial waters, so to speak."

She takes note of the other three characters just arriving, or already arrived in the case of the tall white furry creature, and tilts her distinctive hat to them in greeting. "Howdy, folks. I presume you would be persons interested in joining our small company on our ventures?" She gestures to herself. "Priss Vincent, gunsmith and engineer for the Weiss & Stetson Company."
