Well, we don't need shelter. Ten minutes more than the bare minimum to avoid offending them and bubble camp?

This seems like a reasonable plan. Rest up, then be on our way in the morning.

What route's gonna get taken to the Thorn Wastes? Will the party detour to the (presumably empty, possibly invaded) Drellin's Ferry or head direct in search of the Ghostlord?

I guess to kill the Red Hand forces there is the most obvious reason. I've accepted that our detour has let Saarvith reach the Ghost Lord before us, but paying the dwarves is I think probably the most significant thing we've done as a party yet as far as defending Brindol goes.

Depends on if the dwarves are worth more than a dragon. In 5e, they might be. Low level warriors stay potent much longer.

I bet there’ll be two white dragons at once next.

An inkling of a plan is beginning to form in my head, and to that effect I think we should discuss a name for our group.
A few ideas theming around the fact that we’ve killed two dragons come to me. Short and sweet, “Dragons’ Bane.” Or for a double pun, we could be “The Claw on the Other Foot,” either “The Claw” or “The Foot” for short. You know. Because we oppose the hand.

EDIT: Or something about scales. Tipping Scales would be a pun on dragon scales and also mean we’re gonna turn the tide.

    @Bob

I'm not sure how much of a hint and how much "in game knowledge" this should be but I don't wanna feel like you're being lead astray so I'll put up some information and the party can draw their own conclusions and goals.

You guys are racing up and down the vale on magic horses and can basically camp anywhere, but the Red Hand's main force has to make and break an army sized camp every day along with and reaving and pillaging they're doing, so speed wise there's a drastic difference in paces between the two of you. The small groups you met in the middle of the vale were the advance hunting parties sorta deal, like the ones who were harassing Drellin's Ferry before you arrived.

Day 12 (two days ago) was the original date of the Drellin's Ferry invasion, but chances are this was slowed a bit by blowing up Skull Gorge Bridge and messing with their Wyrmlords so they might not even be there yet on Day 14 (current day).

Without going into specifics it could take them weeks, potentially, to reach Brindol (again, depending on speeds), plus additional time to set up for a siege. If Beorn wants to put this information into character it would probably be appropriate to do so given his background!

8 days is of course still a significant time investment of course, but from the knowledge the character have (which I may have wanted to communicate better) Brindol isn't going to get wiped out while you're in the wastes.

Well not unless I decide to add a few more dragons to the Horde.

Well, telling them that the people who were originally sent to hire the Shining Axes are dead would be important. But mostly, after the Ghostlord, Gaks thinks the Guerilla slow-them-down idea Zuri's been pushing for awhile is the next move. And I think that would go a lot better with regular contact with Brindol's leadership.
I mean, imagine if we were with the group that was delivering the gold in the first place.

Do we have a spell slot high enough to send a messenger back to Brindol? IIRC Animal Messenger only lasts 24 hours without upcasting, and we've been on the road for at least a week (I think).

Not a whole lotta random encounters, but that's probably for the best.

In another game I'm in, the bard started playing music and bubbles came out of her mandolin, filling the room and popping until one large bubble filled the entire room. She had cast Leomunds Tiny Hut.

I of course jumped up and down (figuratively since it's pbp) yelling "Bubble Camp!" so the name moves on.
