Rik charges the table wall and spears one of the gnolls under the clavicle. Then he draws the gnoll in and gives him a whack over the head. The gnoll looks almost dead from this assault.

Sakuya seems to be slightly better off than before, maybe not dying after all?

Alissog rises up with a heroic effort and closes in on the gnolls as well...
She notes that Remilia is dead and hopes that the professor is not too mad since the traitor can't be interrogated.

Geronimo shoots a blowgun dart at one of the gnolls. He reels, he seems nauseous. He almost collapses. Surely he's just inches from death.

Alissog stops moving and puts her hand on her knee, completely exhausted, her clothes covered in her own blood. She is angry, but murdering a fleeing enemy is still completely against her beliefs.

"Yes..." - she mutters, in a low voice.

Rik calms down, makes a deep breath, and says in a firm voice.

"Leave. And never hurt me or my friends again. Or I will find you and make sure you don't get another chance to escape".

He is not a murderer, either.

The gnolls drops their crossbows and ready battleaxes into both hands.

One of them strikes at Alissog seeing that they need to decrease the numbers

Alissog's head rolls from her shoulders making a thump thump thump sound as it rolls down the corridor.

The other gnoll strikes at Rik's arm almost cutting through as well.

"ALISSOG!" - he screams.

Rik tries to empty his mind again, but he can't. He is near his breaking point now, his body is full of adrenaline from the wound he just took, and his mind is full of anger. One day he will be able to keep his calm no matter the situation, but today is not that day.

He moves towards the nearest gnoll, the one that is the most weakened, aiming his spear on his neck.

Rik spears the gnoll that's reeling from the effects of poison, rushes over the table onto the side where the gnolls are and kicks the other gnoll in the back.

The final gnoll seems to take it but then collapses, as he barely can't hang onto life.

I think we're missing death saves so I rolled twice for Sakuya. 15 and 17. SHe's stable.

Beyond the obstacle set up by Remilia the room stretches to two directions. On the right there's an atrium-like area that ends in a double-door that you suspect is the exit. Ahead of you is a second part of main hall with a number of small doors that lead to small store-rooms, now empty.

At the other end of the hall is small set of stairs that leads to another room. You can see fires of the forge all the way where you're standing.

The firepit is made to look like the mouth of a dragon. In front of the fire pit is a massive rune-carved anvil that looks like it must weigh half a ton.
You hear a faint singing from the flames of the forge.
The flames glow white hot. There's a chain near the firepit which seems like it would raise metal plates to extinguish the fires.
There's also pots of oil, similar at to the stuff you've seen before near the morlocks.

As you come near the forge, the singing starts to make sense as words.
My fires are aroused but I see no forgepriest to abuse me. You have not come to make weapons of murder. What is your intention?

Polari looks to the others before walking to the forge,

"Stay here and protect Sakuya until he awakens. We are supposed to go in and perform a ritual. I don't know what the ritual does but I trust Sister Spinoza. If something goes very wrong, try to save us. If you can't save us, save yourselves. Wish us luck. Let us finish the ritual before we try to cremate the bodies."

Geronimo follows along with Polari, when the voice calls out to them, Geronimo replies,

"I think we are here to free you. We have the soulcrystal and ritual book, and the unholy water and the druid's ritual oil. We will try to complete the ritual."

"We are just a librarian and a minstrel. We have no significant weapons on us. Our guards have two small swords and a spear. Enchant these three simple weapons and we will help you pass from this world."

Geronimo nods along, pointing out his fiddle in case the forge can see us.

"What is your name and how did you get trapped here? Who was Danifae?"

There comes a time in the life of every ratfolk adventurer that he will witness a newly met companion’s head being severed from their body.

Oren didn’t expect that day to be today and is somewhat traumatized by the experience. The thumping sound will haunt his nightmares until the day he dies. Which he also hopes to be not today.

While Polari and Geronimo take care of the ritual, Oren looks after Sakuya and tries to find something to cover Alissog’s body. “”First Nodovico, now her. We’re dropping like flies here, Rik.” He then glances at the chain mail and it’s shiny protection puts his old leather to shame.. “Hey, I might put that to good use, if you don’t mind. I’ll pay my share for it, of course.. Not trying to cheat you out of our loot.”

The forge continues
I would take that offer but I feel I should educate you on what it means. I direct the forge but the forge must be empowered. Once I use it's strength it must be heated every day with oils of war for 29 days and then I can use it again.

I was Nyokawamtoto, the Silver General. Ages ago I ruled a piece of jungle. But then the ground opened and armies of mraow came. We resisted for a century or so but the mraow brought terrible weapons that brought us down one by one.

I was captured into a crystal and much later transferred into this forge based on a ritual that strikes me as similar to the one you suggested. For many years I was used to make new weapons. Radiant weapons, poisonous weapons, weapons of thunder or lightning.

Then I met Danifae. She was an oracle and a master of battle. She carried one of the ancient dragon-hunting spears and she wanted to talk to me. She asked me who we fought in the jungle valley. No one, I told her. The valley is protected naturally from all sides. There was no need for war.

She asked me about our terrible claws and magical breath. I explained that that was simply how we were born, not a choice we made. She complained that the warriors were becoming lazy and languishing for the lack of enemies to raid. I told her that that is the nature of victory. That is what wars seek to achieve, victory and peace.

After our debate, she struck her weapon in stone and abandoned it.

I offer you a new deal. I will enchant one of your weapons and if you then release me, I will also show you where Danifae's spear is.

"Uh I'm not sure if you are strong enough to wear this. I know I'm not. But suit yourself.

I will be also taking those javelins myself. They are stronger than those darts I use and I'm afraid poor Alissog has no use for them anymore."

He then made a bow, as if thanking Alissog for the loot and for all the help provided.

What this what the monks saw when they ventured outside? All this death and pain? What was he supposed to learn from it?

He felt like coming back to the safety of his monastery. But a tradition is a tradition. He was going to see the end of this journey. At the very least, he would have some gold to donate to his home when he returned.

Once put on the anvil, the sword's blade starts trembling, then dissipates while a constant hum remains. It now looks like a simple hilt without a blade. If looking at the item directly, one can see things behind it shimmer just a little bit.

I call it Hummingbird. It is now yours. Will you now spread the oil of nullification on the forge?

Before disappearing completely, the voice from the forge says
Shut down the fires and climb on top of me. The last thing Danifae did with the spear was to try to shatter the forge.

And then there's just the sound of crackling flames.

Hummingbird is now a weapon with no metal blade, it does thunderdamage equivalent to the type of weapon it used to be. It also casts booming blade at level 1 every time it hits a new target for the first time.

Now the lack of a blade gives one advantage in sleight of hand rolls when trying to make others believe one is unarmed. The constant noise of the blade gives one disadvantage to stealth when carrying it.

Polari pulls the hanging chain that seemed promising earlier. Indeed it closes metal latches on the fire pit. In a couple of minutes the noise of the fire has gone away completely.

The dragon's head is still hot. The back of the thing looks more promising when considering climbing on it.

When they return to the forge, Geronimo ties a rope around his waste and climbs on the back of the dragon.

Geronimon climbs on top of the dragonhead with little difficulty. On top of it, behind one of the carved ear is a white staff. When Geronimo grabs onto it, the other end of the staff starts to crackle like lightning.

He tosses the spear down and when the staff hits the stone floor, the ligntning-spearhead disappears.

After finding the spear, you find nothing new of interest at the forge.

It is time to head back.

The spear can be used as a quarterstaff if someone want to do so at some point. When used as a spear, it doesn't do piercing damage. It does d8 lightning damage whether you use it with 1 or 2 hands. Whether used as staff or spear it also does an extra d8 when striking at a dragon or a creature that's close kin to dragons by it's nature. Finally it gives you resistance against being frightened.

You carry Remilia's body with you as you leave.

You collect Snüt on your way back. He advises you to take some of the oils with you. It's reasonably pricy back home. You collect what you can to take it with you to the ship.

Namera and Padinho have survived and they've even gathered some strength. They also come with you to the ship.

You distract the cave fishers with an illusion in one end of the cave to be able to get past them safely.

In a while you're back at the port. The ship, and Wing-Captain Polonia are waiting for you.

You're asked to come to the captain's cabin.

Polonia nods at you and says
I'm sorry Sakuya, I see your friend is not with you. It must have been a terribly difficult journey you've had. Please, tell me all about it.

Sakuya

“We found the traitor Remilia and she tried to kill us, assisted by a group of gnolls. I barely survived myself, it was quite the ordeal. I must say though, Rik confessed to a… special assignment. I wonder what Professor Melange will have to say about it.”
She looks to the rest of the group
“But I only survived due to the bravery of my companions. And this new found feeling of gratitude is holding my tongue back, for I don’t want to say something to our patrons that will put them in a bad position. Perhaps it's best I forget what I saw.”

"I think we were expected to trap the creature in this crystal instead of setting it free. Don't say anything to our patrons and don't show off your new weapons."

"The weapons should be fine. We arrived at the forge and tried to perform the ritual. It didn't seem to work. We fought a lot of morlocks, hundreds of them, and found these weapons lying around. We barely escaped with our lives, and not even all of them."
