Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
[Lost Beach]
June wakes up when the sun rises, even though she stayed up late practicing flying and echolocation landing upside-down and everything. It's pretty fun! She's not sure whether she's supposed to become nocturnal or not now. Probably not, that would be weird. But! Flying actually makes it pretty easy to find food.
She flies over to the tower and changes back, and stashes the diadem away somewhere so that it won't get lost on the boat ride.
June enters the tower, looking for both the robot and Selekhael.
"Hey, Mr. Robot! We're leaving now, so bye! Have fun hanging out here!"

to Selekhael, "Good morning! Ready to go?"Favorite sports:

"I'm not really sure," Blanche answers, "but I think we better head back and find out what we can. Assuming security would permit it." And also assuming there's anything left to find amid the blast site, she thinks, turning her focus on Anika and doing a quick once-over for any injuries. Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
[Lost Beach]
"If I'm ever in the area, I will!" June promises.
...
Not that she knows where 'the area' even is. No idea where they are, at all, or where it is in relation to anything else.
"There's a fisherman who likes hanging out on this island," she tells the robot. "Make sure you go say 'hi' to him every once in a while." Don't want the robot to get lonely, after all.
June has her clothes, the apron and some tools, the diadem...yup. That's everything.
She leaves to go to the fisherman's hut. "I'm pretty excited to find out what else there is in this world." Game. World. Whatever. Same thing.Last edited by 5a Violista; 2021-02-06 at 04:44 PM.

The pair start heading towards the fisherman's shack. "Oh, it's amazing! There's a big city where I work, and it's huge, and the buildings go all the way up to the sky, and there's everything you could ever want there and a bunch of things you've never heard of," Selekhael says excitedly, "I'd never seen anything like it before I came there."Awesome avatar (Kothar, paladin of Tlacua) by Linkele!

"Oh, wow! That sounds really exciting. Personally, I'm not really a fan of metropolises but they can be really cool sometimes."
They get closer and should see the fishing boat soon.
It's probably rude to ask about who someone is outside of the game, so June doesn't bother asking about that. "So...you work as a blacksmith? Or something? I think you mentioned that back in the tower."Favorite sports:

"Oh, neat! Golems are probably pretty cool and hard to make, but it sounds interesting," June says. "Don't worry, though. I'm sure your new magic has another way to make them. Would definitely take a lot of experimentation."

"Right, I guess." They reach the shack where the fisherman is dragging his boat out into the surf. Selekhael immediately shifts to angelic form and pushes from behind, moving the boat much more quickly. The fisherman looks ill at ease but accepts the help. Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
Once was Lost, now is
Found Beach
June is pretty excited the whole way. Well, riding boats is fun. Sitting on this boat, though, she's a little afraid she'll get really sunburned. Isn't really anything she can do about it, though.
Once they get on mainland, June thanks the helpful fisherman, and wishes him luck.
She doesn't really know at all where they are, so she looks to Selekhael for direction. "So, um....well, now that I've gotten off that island I have no idea what I should do now and where I should go." It's not like she's got a questlog. "Didn't even receive a main quest."Favorite sports:

Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
[Found Beach]
"To inside...?" GLoG at least sounds like a place instead of a word. That way, it kind-of gives an idea of what it's supposed to be.
June nods. "Yeah. Okay! Sure." She walks. "So, what're those places like?" Obviously, besides what Selekhael already mentioned, where there's skyscrapers and all sorts of new things.
She stretches.
"Yeah, I probably do need to find a place to stay, don't I?" June says. She rubs her hands against her elbows. "It already feels so much colder here. The weather back on that island was pretty perfect."Favorite sports:

Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
[Coast Crawling]
Now the distinctive color is a little pale bundle that Anchor puts in her pocket.
Anchor decides she should follow the woman. She seems to be retreating, but who knows what she might get up to? She might find another angle to attack before the ritual is ready.
So first she picks up the black sword, and then she trudges upriver along the shore.
The song, caught by the shadow, unjumbles into a mournful tune. It's skipped over an important part of the musical progression in the chaos, but it's something, at least.

Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
[Found Beach]
June laughs.
"That's a hilarious name for a city," she says. "I guess it makes sense, though. You're either inside or you're the other." She laughs again.
They walk.
"So, basically, you need to go to work and apologize for being shipwrecked and missing work," June says, trying to sum up the whole thing. "Yeah, that's reasonable."
[Coast Crawling]
The woman doesn't stop going until she reaches the waterfall.
When she reaches the waterfall, it's like the back falls out behind it, and a cavern opens up and water backflows into it. She goes into that cavern. (If someone follows, they'll be ankle-deep in water.
A dozen or so seconds after the woman goes into the cavern, new fog - produced at the base of the waterfall itself - begins being produced. Like before, it's that song again. It's significantly thinner and weaker than it was earlier, downstream, but that's because after everything that happened with Anchor and the shadow, it needs time to build back up.
The mermaid cautiously follows, from a distance. Just in case she's needed.Favorite sports:

June stops walking.
And looks at Selekhael.
And then blinks.
"Oh! Yeah, of course he'll be worried sick!" June says. "You have his phone number, right? You need to call him right now!"
June feels around for her own phone only to remember that she doesn't have it. (She doesn't even have pockets, besides the apron.)
She starts walking again, a bit faster now. "Might even have to do that before telling your workplace."Favorite sports:

Well, Anchor feels like she has to follow. That cavern isn't usually there; maybe there are some answers to be found!
She's caraeful stepping into the water, at least.
Her shadow stays by the bottle as it plays out its song, watching the progress of the distorted fog.

[Silver Sand Stretch]
Zabb sighs as he walks towards her, hoping she doesn't flinch or run away. He did offer to help, and they need to walk together if he's to assist her in hunting for shells. "If you're not an malicious demon, then you have nothing to fear, Sekhmet. I know things are different here than they are back home, where all demons are malicious black thingies. None are flesh and blood: you look more like what mortals in my world think demons look like. Of course, if you were malicious then I'd have to smite, but you're not, are you?" He smiles up at her. "If not, then don't be scared! I won't hurt you!"
He gasps and points somewhere in the ground. "Check there, it's a big shell and shiny too! You can't see it, it's covered by sand, but dig and it's there! See, I'm helping, yay!"Purple Eagle's character list

Re: Seaside 6: Six at the Beach
[Found Beach]
"Oh no," June says.
She thinks about alternatives. Money...might be bad or not. Depends on how much she had and how much she has. Phone is probably worse because of all the numbers and maybe other things saved in it. Most everything else in a purse can be replaced, except maybe pictures.
"If you have his number memorized, then we could just ask someone to lend their phone? Most people are nice like that."
But that's an if the number's memorized.
"If not...well, I guess he'll be surprised, right? Or maybe you have it written down somewhere at your workplace?"
[Coast Crawling]
As the song continues to play, the fog keeps on reacting the same.
The cavern behind the waterfall actually isn't very big. Just a really short hallway, followed by a (dark!) small room. The whole of the area looks very natural, made through natural water processes, and (with the exception of the middle of the room) is very empty. The water gets a little deeper the farther Anchor goes in, but never gets to knee-level. Just above the water is the song from the waterfall, obscuring the ground a bit. There's also stalactites around, and water dripping all around the cavern.
Even though Anchor immediately followed, the water-walking woman is already gone.
And, in the middle of the room, on top of a stone altar, is a long-dead practically-mummified corpse. Its chest is pierced by a long wicked and highly magical black sword with jagged edges - the sword itself looks like it's made entirely of chipped obsidian. Tied to the hilt of the sword are several ropes, taut and holding the sword in place like the central pole of a circus tent. And, tied to the ropes are little strips of cloth. Old, tattered, frayed, and they used to have writing on it, but the writing is long-faded and worn away.
And, all around the room, there's the dripping of water and the weakened song, barely loud enough to be heard over the waterfall.Favorite sports:

Anchor wades in deeper, reminding herself that thanks to the mermaid she has plenty of time before drowning is a remote possibility, not matter how deep the water gets.
Just need to keep up with the-
Oh, she's gone.
Because...they're here? Was this body that same pale woman, once? How long has this place been gone, for the strips to fade away? No wonder there are problems, look at the condition of this place!
She considers drawing the obsidian sword right out of the mummy. But that would be very reckless.
What she does is lay out her own black crystal sword to touch the blade of the jagged wrapped-up one. "What does it do, Firme?" Much like Hunter is going to have done with Zophiel's swords. Wake up and answer, mysterious waterfall-cave sword!

"Sorry." Zabb says, realizing he's not helping by continuing to bring up smiting. She must still fear that she's in danger, that one wrong move and he'll come for her. No danger of that happening, unless she turns out to be evil and malicious!
Of course, he keeps that to himself this time.
He sucks his thumb as he considers the question. "Well, my station is on one of the islands in the middle of the sea, so I'm always out here!" He decides to be more specific. Drip. Dripdrip.
Drawing random swords is clearly a great idea! How else are you supposed to know what a sword does if you don't try to wield it?
Even for a sword, the obsidian sword is particularly single-minded. It just wants blood, blood, and more blood.
Drip. Drip.
The sword starts shaking, but the ropes seem to being a decent job stopping it from moving around too much.
Drip.

That's a pretty good point, narrator.
And it's an understandable motivation.
Anchor goes to draw the sword out of the mummy, tearing it free of the ropes.
Who knows, maybe it can be taught to appreciate a variety of things in addition to blood?
