Barbara Gordon, the bat druid, is ready to roll!

Barbara was the result of a rather unhinged druid, becoming a werebat and leading a flock of bats to attempt to conquer the land. His queen, a dire bat, eventually gave birth to Barbara, though the mad druid did not call her that. He might never have known she existed, even. For the mad druid was put down by a strike force of knights, led by James Gordon. The knights killed the druid and dispersed the bats, only to find a child amongst them. The other knights thought it best to kill the child-no risk of the druid's insanity spreading. But James told them no-and took her in as a daughter.

He raised her as his own, though she was always curious as to why she looked so different from the others. From even a young age, she had a knack with animals and magic, which worried James, but he did his best to raise her to be a moral person, the kind who would use her powers for good and not selfish ends. For what it's worth, he succeeded.

Of course, being the daughter of a knight of the realms means that you generally don't face much of the prejudice that would normally come with being so... Different. As such, Barbara is largely unaware of just how cruel people can be to those who are unlike them.

After turning 18, she decided to leave home. Her father, while worried, knew that he couldn't coddle her forever, and so gave her a place to go. Ten-Towns, far to the north. He asked her to find out why no letters had come from them in a while, and to help them if need be. She agreed, though did add that she might stay there a while. James wasn't exactly THRILLED about that, but he knew his daughter would do her best.

And so, Barbara has recently arrived in the Ten-Towns, looking for what went wrong and how she can help.

Alaric grew up in a small town on the Sword Coast, the second son of a seamstress and a merchant fisherman. He was born as the town was wracked by the greatest storm in generations, and many saw that as an omen. Certainly, he grew up swift and strong, outpacing his peers, and it seemed there was something that set him apart. Eventually he learnt to tap on a source of primal power to push beyond his already impressive limits, and it became clear that a spark of that storm still lay within him.

Unfortunately, these gifts led to pride and stubbornness, and an unwillingness to let insults pass. As a young man, this pride led him into a pointless tavern brawl which escalated out of control, resulting in grave injury to his opponent. Fleeing justice, he took passage on the first vessel leaving the harbour, and ended up on a pirate crew. After a few years, that ended in disaster itself, leaving him stranded in the frozen North, and his desperate search for civilisation eventually led him to Ten Towns.

Backstory: An unlikely member of the Mason's guild, this young Tabaxi explorer was the son of a couple of Tabaxi highway robbers. After his parents were incarcerated in a dwarven city, young Poem of the Drum became a warden of the state.
Raised by dwarves, he was trained in masonry and fighting.
With his training complete, Drum set out into the world to find his own place to call home and a bit of fame and glory along the way.

The roads between settlements are frequently traveled enough that you don’t need to worry about deep snow slowing you down, you can buy a sled and sled dog for 70 gp, or axebeaks for 50gp each, which will halve travel time between settlements

How many adventurers can we fit in a sled?

EDIT: JNAP, what size is Barbara? I’m guessing she is small? Or is she tiny?
From my count, our party is one small or even smaller person, and five medium sized people.

I'm guessing we can squeeze in one sled.
If we pool our gold together, can we make 70gp? I have 15gp to share.

Dogs can pull 360 pounds each, the sled by itself weighs 300 so you’d need at least 3 dogs to pull the party and your gear

In this case I vote we walk. Too expensive for now. Maybe we buy the dogs later on.

I've got 21gp and 3 silver.
So that's
21.3 + 10 + 15 = 46.3
So we'd need another 48.7.

Edit: Wooloo how did you get 210? Mastiffs are 25, sled is 20.
