"Bad dog!" Aelia tries, though she's pretty sure a verbal rebuke isn't going to be of much effect if being lit on fire isn't scaring it off. Speaking of which, she throws more fire at it.

The creature was not without self preservation. After its last bites at Lanius it bolts out of the kitchen and down the open hallway from which you came, making it nearly all the way to the door, visciously barking along the way. At this point a strange thought dawns on you, Lenna is not to be seen.

Noticing Lanius fall to the ground and suddenly realizing Lenna is gone and she's all alone, Aelia looks around wildly for a moment. Suddenly worried another threat might have taken Lenna away. Seeing nothing she rushes over to Lanius and pulls out some rosemary she had with her, for making bread, and grinds it together in her hands in front of his nose and mouth. She puts her magical energy into it and then blows the dust into his face to make sure he inhales as much of it as possible.

Lanius awoke with a hammering headache - which was entirely unfair considering he had gotten bitten into both legs. The though promptly made him aware of the burning pain in his thighs. But all in all, he had to admit, he felt better than he had any right to.
Seeing Aelia over him he smiled: "Thanks. This is certainly not my day - or my week. I need to find a shield and some armor. This place is definitely not for the lightly armed."
With wobbly legs he got up. "Let's see if that mutt-ation has left anything interesting behind except piss and feces."

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
The next room was a large dining room, although it looks to be stripped of most its table and chairs and converted to a simple woodwork shop. Some tools still remain scattered about along with makeshift boards cut to fit the windows. Plenty of saw dust still sits on the floor, otherwise there is not much else to note. No more doors.

Behind the illusionary wall was the master bedroom.
It has been treated with more respect than the other rooms and is slightly tidier. Except for beneath the large ornate four post bed where a large carpet lay, torn and tattered by crawling animal claws.
Bending down to see the extent of the damage you will notice a large hole dug into the ground.

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
Spoiler: For the newcomer!Excruciating pain suddenly awakens you from a sleep you didn’t know you were having. A powerful surge of magic arcs through your body, lighting up every nerve and fibre of your being. Your muscle contract involuntary, tensing from the attack, throwing you into violent fits of convulsions.
Only you don’t go any where. Bound to a small stone table, metal shackles dig at your wrists and ankles, you are unable to move. Even your cries can barely escape the well constructed leather gag in your mouth. But at least you can see.
There is no light in the room. The stone roof is not much to look at. You are stuck lying down. Straining your head you can see some sort of alter above you.
There are some sitting cushions around the walls and but a single solid door.
When you awoke you believed you still retained some of your old memories, but now you cant be so sure. Like a dream fading to your waking hours, your memories slipped away from you over the years of contained isolation, if you ever really had them at all.
—————————————
For the first time since you awoke, you hear voices beyond that large solid door. Then a scream of pain followed by a thud and silence.
You don’t know how long it was until this repeated again, this time a heavy continuous thudding followed as something banged on the door for a while before giving up.
Another time many muffled voices gave way to screams but then as always, it was consumed by the ever haunting silence that dragged on for eternity.
As of recently the most exciting thing has occurred, an animal sniffs and occasionally scratches at your door. For weeks this has happened. Sometimes with days in between, other times mere hours. It hears your pleas and sits out side gnawing on things you can only imagine.
—————————————
A few hours ago, it gave a small bark and ran off.
With a quick glance Lanius finds some money (1d4)[2]gold (1d6)[5]silver (1d12)[3]copper.
There are useable clothes.
Parchments and ink.
Druidic focuses.
Candles
A few torches stashed beside the bed in a holder. (Seems an odd place to have so many)
Books
The books mostly seem to focus on horticulture.
A DC 10 investigation will reveal some on Druidic Magic and protection rituals. There is also a small amount on the planes, philosophy, poetry and music.

Lanius pocketed the easily portable and usuable stuff and then looked at the trousers. His own had suffered terribly - first from shipwreck, then attack, hard travel, attack, attack and finally attack.
"Turn around for a moment if you don't mind." Lanius said to Aelia, before getting out of his old trousers and putting on the new.

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
Clearing the bookshelf, and only due to her tinkering nature, Aelia notices the tell-tale signs of a compression panel. Crudely done in her opinion, taking more space than necessary but did the job of appearing inconspicuous and hidden behind the books.
Pressing it, it folds down revealing a small space the size of a brick, empty except for a wide metal ring attached tightly to a bit of string that disappears into the wall.

Lanius, who was decent again by now, came closer, inspecting Aelia's find: "Interesting. Do you think it leads to a secret room? Help me check if there is a trap on that."
Slightly out of breath and with a pounding headache, he inspected the contraption.

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
An indeterminate amount of time had passed for our shackled heroine. It seemed like a long time had passed, but the lack of any way to keep track of the hours and days made that tricky. She had tried to keep track by reciting Ranka's Lament to herself over an over. That poem took an hour to perform properly, but eventually she would forget what recitation she was on.
She had been here for awhile,at least. Weird she hadn't needed to drink or go to the bathroom. Not that she was complaining about not having to stew in her own waste, but it was another thing that just felt off.Like the fact that someone had gone to so much trouble binding her only to leave her unaided. Or the fact that she could recite epic poetry, but not quite remember her name or how she got here. Or what all of those loud noises were.
But she was certain of one thing. She was alive. And as long as that was true, she would keep fighting. So whenever sh heard a noise, she started yelling.
"Hello? Somebody? Help! I'm in here!"
Well, she tried to say that. Being gagged made it harder to speak. But hopefully, she got the point across.Avatar of Lukas Stormlord the Paladin done by the Lovely Ceika!

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
Lanius finds no trap but noticed the string of the supposed trigger was frayed and likely to snap before activation. You can work around this now.
No traps, but you cannot tell what it will do.
Meanwhile, elsewhere. Kara’s gag comes loose and she can speak almost freely.Last edited by Holy-hunter; 2021-04-26 at 08:15 PM.

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
And so it began, the cord came out about three inches before causing a click. The room filled with the tense silence of anticipation. From above the sound echoed in some hidden cavity. Next, over to the left the soft patter of falling dust preceded a heavy ‘Clunk’.
Then faint steady ticking began, muffled by the bricks as it slowly made its way downwards towards the bottom of the wall. The stones in the floor vibrated ever so slightly as the unmistakable grind of gears was under way. One clicking over and then another, bigger slower gears, whirling buzzing smaller gears. It traveled across the room shaking loose sand upon the floor until it reached the bed. The ground at each corner began to churn with noise and movement until a sharp ‘Clank’ echoed with an incomplete finality and the bed dropped down an inch.
Gears suddenly whirled with an unburdened freedom before soon falling still and utterly silent.
The room returned to as it was before, only now the string in the hidden hatch hung out a little further.Last edited by Holy-hunter; 2021-04-27 at 10:46 AM.

"That was surprisingly anticlimactic." Lanius said into the silence. "Maybe it got stuck, let's try shoving the bed a bit so see if it will open a pathway or something."
Lanius went over to take a closer look to the mechanism that had made the bed sink down.

With a bit of study and imagination you realise it was supposed to lift up. Once upon a time before the carpet was dropping at tattered it would probably have lifted that too.
You can get it to lift a little, it’s heavy and awkward, but nothing stays.

Re: TAG. The Adventurers Guild. IC
Removing the bedding you can see through the support slats underneath and have a better view and vantage point of the tattered hole in the carpet.
The hole in the carpet is of medium size and shows signs of the dog going through repetitively. But the carpet just covers a bigger hole. Polished stone steps descend into the darkness. It has sturdy purpose built walls. Hanging on the side of the entry you can just make out a panel of wooden floor boards that match that of the room, the lid of an open trap door.
It would not be hard to go through the bed with some force. Removing the slats.
The mechanism far broken simply lifting the bed high enough so this passage way could be accessed. Even if you could lift it, it would no longer lock.Last edited by Holy-hunter; 2021-04-28 at 08:53 PM.
