Not as in the weird US custardy pudding. Or the proper UK suet stuff. It's also known as black pudding and blood sausage (although that's a more general thing), and it's essentially sausage made from grains and pig leftovers, mainly the pig's blood.

It is incredibly tasty. But in a year I shall be eating it no more (well, as a regular thing at the very least, I will likely hav meat occasionally if a host cooks it, and that extends to black pudding).

To be serious, blood sausages aren't that uncommon in Europe and have been around since at least the ancient Greek city states (maybe earlier, I've never properly researched this). And when considering that livers, kidneys, and intestines are all eaten blood-based food is to be expected.

Actually, while people like to get icked out by it, when properly prepared there's few parts of an animal you can't eat. My personal view on food ethics includes 'if you'll eat part of the animal you should be willing to eat the rest of the animal', I don't have a high opinion of people who'll eat a pork chop but not pig's liver*.

Yes, going vegetarian is going to be hard for me. But there's a chance I might have to do it anyway, better get a head start.

* I do understand that some people can't eat certain foods for religious reasons, and you should always be wary of safety with certain foods (such as chicken). But all things being equal I find not eating only certain parts of an animal unethical.

My new year's resolution is to be vegetarian by Christmas 2021. I'm going to start off small with only Mondays being veggie days, and then I'll add another veggie day in every month or two.

Also, started Dragonfall, and that kicked any desire I had to play Cyberpunk 2077. Because man that's punk, even if I'm annoyed at having only been able to afford cybereyes and a datajack for the moment (and as Wired Reflexes will take up two points of essence I'm going to have to be picky with limbs, maybe just two cyberlegs for +2Quickness). It really does seem to have actually got the punk nailed.

Vegetarians may not have meat by-products either, depending on how you define meat by-products.

Vegans avoid any food derived from an animal. And if they're doing it for moral reasons, they probably avoid leather, snakeskin, etc.

Today I learned several of my friends have not seen Dear Zachary. I am on a quest to get them all to see it, for which I am sure they will hate me once they stop crying several weeks from now.

For anyone who hasn't seen it (no spoilers, just a heads up):

If you are interested in seeing it, do not look it up in any way, shape, or form. Significant real-world events happen on a national scale which reveal events in the film, and which readily pop up on most search engines in conjunction with searches for the film. It is a documentary, mostly presented as it was filmed chronologically, so in the beginning of the narrative the filmmaker also does not know what will happen as the events unfold. The trailer does a good job of showing what the documentary is about without revealing any information that isn't given out in the first ten minutes or so, even if the last few seconds are a bit clickbaity.

This is also the only film I will fully warn people about watching. It is, far and away, the single most heartwrenching, emotionally draining film I have ever seen. It is difficult to even write about it without tears welling up. It is incendiary and has a great chance to leave the viewer numb with rage, and emotionally break them. It is also the best documentary I have ever seen, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
