Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
While making sure nothing "fun" (i.e., traps like glyphs and the like) weren't dropped/ seeded on their exit, Oddity and Malak begin searching and making their way to that door.

Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
The only thing of note in the room was the aforementioned brazier and reredos. The decorative panel has a faint Divination aura and further inspection shows that it functions as an apparatus with the Divination (Viewing) talent. If seems that it's limited to just the rooms you've seen this level, though.

Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
Ever since the Malak-that-was had been sent to Kakishon, the shabti's body (and mind) had undergone significant change. Malak-that-is is still a shabti (itself a change from his form a millenia ago), and for all intents and purposes, but yet was also an oneirogen, a creature that possessed a planar portal within his body. Gone was his ancient magical skill at divination. True, he could develop veils for such things now, but it was more formularized - in many ways both more and less intuitive.
Calling Shahrazad over to help him out, with her aid he tries to tap into the magic of the reredos to attempt to utilize it through pure will power and instinct.Spoiler: OOCIs it possible to use this, with an Aid from 'zad, via Use Magic Device?11APR2024: Completed reading Paizo's Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Demons Revisited (2013, Jacobs).

Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
It takes a few tries, but you get it functioning without too much difficulty. It doesn't give you much in the way of new information, though it does let you peer into the next room; it has a table, some chairs, and a panel in the room is askew; no doubt this was the hidden room that Shaz was telling you about.

Entering the room, it looks much like the scrying showed. You do notice that there's a panel askew; it must be the secret door Shaz told you about. A cursory look around the room doesn't see anything of note, however.

Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
It seems that in their haste to get reinforcements (according to their leader, at least), the fire elementals failed to properly close the door. You don't detect any traps left behind either. Looks like they just got sloppy.

You all spend the next 10 minutes searching the corridors on this level of the building, but you don't find any more traps left behind. It seems that if the elementals left something dangerous for you to run into, it's not on this floor.

Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
The passage is roughly and kind of unevenly hewn, but as it's sized for Large folk, you make you way through easily enough. The tunnel extends over 200 feet before it turns a corner, the stonework becoming more worked as you head down; you guess that the whole passage was intended to have clean stonework, but the project focused on functionality before style and they either ran out of funds or personnel before it was finished. Regardless, it's another 70 or so feet until you get to the sliding panel, currently closed as it was designed to pull the door back closed once it was used.
You exit into a hallway of sorts; from what you can tell, you're on the small end of an "L" shaped corridor, which has a lancet-arched ceiling—the hall itselfextends into darkness and gives off an air of abandonment and disuse. Even the brass walls seem dull and dead. Either way, this way is clearly rarely used, the dark corridors no concern for the elementals with darkvision.

The hidden passage is safe as far as you can tell; for whatever reason they didn't (or couldn't) lay a trap for you. That does leave you all on the tunnel's far end, in a dingy, poorly lit tunned that seems to turn south.

Re: Legacy of Fire SoP/PoW/SoM V: For Vendetta!
The corridor goes for quite a long way, and roughly every 20 feet a door opens to either side. The first one seems empty from a casual glance, with a blank plaque to the side of the door. All the others are clearly sealed (though one could open it with a modicum of effort), each with a plaque written in Ignan detailing a name (including a grandiose title) and a date (though it's in an odd Elemental calandar rather than the one you're used to).
Eventually, you see the corridor turning again. What do you do?
