The 1/3 pounder failing because peopke thought the 1/4 pounder was bigger is probabky a myth. The only source for it is the then-president of A&W, who was bitter that the chain was never able to go toe-to-toe with McDonalds in sales. It is more likely that the 1/3 pounder didn't do well because the chain wasn't doing well.


Back on topic, the old Death Of Superman arc was built around collateral damage. Superman was repeatedly delayed because he stopped to help the people Doomsday. More directly, he pulled the sacrifice play and went for a mutual kill because he had to keep Doomsday out of Metropolis proper at all costs, as the city would be destroyed if they fought in it.
