Seeing the invasion of heroes, Derro#2 reaches for the lamp at his table and snuffs the flame!

Only one source of light remains in the room, a second lamp at the other table. The weasel band will sure try to put it out, since they like to fight in the dark.

Derro#2 draws a short spear with a hook at the tip and shouts instructions at his buddies.

The wizard Othokent casts firebolt again against Derro#2, but misses.

"Uh oh," Mirasanna muttered as the lamplight went out. The young artificer could have kicked herself; any number of quasimagical formula for producing light and she hadn't any prepared! She could have kicked herself!

Hoping for the best she pointed her tiny dragonpistol and peppered another shot at the Derro who had just doused the lamp (or at least where he had been...)

Confidence's eyes darted around as he once again peeked out from the corner. Seeing that only one light source was left, his eyes narrowed. He might have been able to see in the dark, but the young lady next to him certainly couldn't. "Alright, then, let's see if we can't put these bastards off balance a little..." Muttering under his breath, he pointed a finger at the remaining lantern and spoke in Infernal, commanding it to suddenly burn brighter.

Thorrig - Dwarf Cleric

Thorrig feels a hard impact against his armor. The derro's spear was luckily caught by his heavy chainmail. Thorrig pushes the spear aside with his shield, bringing his own weapon to bear. He pulls his warhammer into a wide arc over his head, as he admonishes the derro. "NOT NICE" he says in his strong, native, dwarven tongue. The warhammer flies down full speed at the derro who had attacked him.

"Leave Mira alone, you creeps!" Thorrig shouts, spittle flying at the derro. He steps a little closer to her prone form, both to defend her and to prepare to heal her when he can. But for now, its more important to end the threat. He swings his warhammer again, hoping to finish off the enemy nearest to Mirasanna.

Unfortunately, Thorrig's rage at seeing Mirasanna fall has left his aim lacking and his hammer smacks heavily into the ground.

A deadly bolt finds the dwarven cleric's chest! He is down and bleeding.

Hissing under his breath at the derro that has closed the distance to him and his companions, Othokent creates a trio of bolts of arcane energy, shooting them all at three of the thieves, before he lunges forward and attempts to take a bite out of the smaller humanoid in front of him!

Confidence winced as he hit the floor, bracing himself for a painful hit from the Derro. Instead, he watched as Othokent shot out bolts of magic before proceeding to take a healthy chunk out of the one who had taken him down. Confidence gave the lizard a shaky nod of thanks as he climbed to his feet, then attempted to finish off the injured Derro once and for all.

He then runs towards the northern door.

Derro #6 shoots a bolt against the wizard Othokent!
(1d20+4)[14], damage: (1d8+2)[5] The spellcasting lizard is hit with a crossbow bolt!
The enemy then runs north and retreats to the other side of the door.

And Derro#4 just dashes towards the north door.
With half of the weasel band out of action, the enemies are retreating.

Grunting as the bolt's sharp tip pierces his scales, Othokent glares at the escaping thieves. "Don't think you can get away!" he growls before stepping over to Mirasanna and feeding her a few bites of the magic pie they'd been given. He then turns and in one fluid motion creates another barrage of missiles to fire at the derro, hoping to take them out before they can get away with their crimes.

While he was near the ground, Irael picked up his bow, nocked an arrow and shot the retreating Derro neatly through the neck.

“Waaahh..!!” The fleeing Derro #3 is hurt by the full force of two magic missiles! But he still stands. He turns to laugh and taunt the wizard “Hahaha--Aaaah!!” A deadly arrow shot by Dr. Irael hits him neatly through the neck. The enemy falls dead!

“AAAhhhrr--!!” The other magic missile zaps Derro #4 into a pile of dust!

Combat is over! But Derro #6 did manage to get away...

"Blast. One of the slippery little bastards got away," Confidence muttered to himself. "Oh well. Them's the breaks. Let's see if any of the ones who didn't get away have anything good on 'em..." He chuckles to himself, then goes to start looting the fallen Derro.

Othokent sniffs derisively as the last of the remaining derro falls over dead. "To think such a foul tasting grip could give us such trouble," he comments before stepping deeper into the room, towards the table they'd all been sitting at. He examines it in greater detail, in case they'd been doing anything other than eating at it, snorting as he looks at the fish that's displayed prominently on top. "Such a waste, to ruin a perfectly good fish by cooking it..."

Mirasanna - Human Artificer

Mirasanna groggily got to her feet, mouth tasting of pumpkin but otherwise feeling better. "Thank you Othokent," the young artificer smiled ruefully. "I have to admit I may have overestimated my ability to withstand a crossbow bolt at close quarters."

Her smile faded as the wizard mentioned his preference for eating the fish raw and she suppressed a shudder and looked elsewhere. "I don't suppose we could revive one of the Derro with some pumpkin pie?" Mirasanna's eyes widened and as an even better idea struck her. "Oh! Not only could he give us information he could, depending on how far he is gone give us a fascinating first how account of the afterlife! Think of the scientific value!"

She was already reaching for one of her numerous notebooks.

Thorrig - Dwarf Cleric

Thorrig comes to with a hearty cough. He immediately reaches down and carefully, but quickly pulls the crossbow bolt from his chest, as the magic from the pie was attempting to heal the wound. He gulps in a few deep breaths of air, relieved to be able to do so. He nods to Dr. Ireal, "Thank you, sir. I won't forget your help."

He uses the nearby barrel to help himself stand up, then picks up his fallen warhammer. He leans against the barrel, listening to the others, before responding. "If any derro still live, and we decide to revive them, I suggest I simply pray for their healing. A spell is a less valuable resource than our limited supply of pie, I think. And it would be a shame to waste such delicious pie on such a tasteless creature. But I question the wisdom of doing so. As I woke up, I thought I saw one of the creatures escape. I think we'd better be on his trail before he brings the whole clan down on us."

Ignoring his own advice about getting a move on, Thorrig turns to speak with Othokent. "Ah, so you prefer fish uncooked. I've heard of people preparing it that way. Served rolled in seaweed with rice and a few other ingredients, I believe, was the recipe I saw. Never tried it myself, but I've heard its quite popular in far-off lands. I like my fish cooked to be light and flaky, practically falling apart in your mouth. Now I'd never trust a derro to get it right, but you really must let me cook a fish for you sometime. I'm sure you'd enjoy it."
