She stashes the decent-smelling loot in her backpack, utterly unconcerned for the weight. "Unless you want to count it out now, I'll haul it all back to Grimmsgate." Turning over her shoulder, the war priest nods to Ellie. "You still keen to take point?"

"That is a sound suggestion," Riaghan replied to Artaith's offer to carry the spoils. He walks back over to his dropped staff and picks it up, then looks to his lantern to ensure the candle within looks stationary enough for them to continue further in.

Ethielle kneels down beside the strange creatures ignoring most of the loot althogh she does look with curiosity at the carved demon head. "Strange and hostile. What manner of creatures were these?" she wonders aloud as she looks at them. If no-one else knows she'll straighten up, cleaning her spear on the clothes of the dead and nod, "Yes, lets continue deeper"

Philemon stays alert as Artaith gathers the items of interest and the others of your group confer. With the benefit of a few uninterrupted moments he notes the room appears relatively unused, with a few signs of habitation such as discarded heavily-gnawed bones (some suspiciously human-looking) knocked into the corners.
Elethielle meanwhile looks over the slain anthropomorphic mole-creatures:

While not common, these creatures are known as mogura-jin, a race of cannibalistic "mole-men", descended and
degenerated from human beings. Drawing together what you've seen so far, it seems a reasonable conclusion that the mutated humans you have encountered are unfortunates that have partially transformed into these mogura-jin.
Investigating beyond, the doorway leads through to a room clearly used as a lair by these mole-men. Evidently the room was used for storage at some time in the past, for there are several large alcoves in the room, each one large enough for a person to stand in, each of them carved with stone shelves. More detritus, meat scraps and crude sleeping spaces indicate it's current usage. There are no further exits from the room.

The group turns about, headed back towards the junction at the entrance and the only other way forward. Artaith meanwhile lingers, confused that the ancient architects might have gone to the effort of such an excavation with no obvious purpose nor connection to other areas...
...her suspicions prove well-founded as she notes an angular geometric section of the masonry wall has a notable and distinct difference in dampness patterning...a hidden passage lies beyond! Unfortunately her perceptiveness does not extend to determining how to access the hidden area.
