I would like to hear everyone's opinions on PMJbeJ275's discussion before securing on my project, would that be okay?

    Edit:
PMJbeJ275's discussion: What should we do about this humanoid found hunting so close to our village?

dangelo: Kill it, then find their village and burn it to the ground. Those are cursed beasts from deep into the woods and should bring nothing but harm to our community.

The map is updated, I only need one last answer from our council . Specifically from Luccan:
Where will we allow the one-eyed hunter to settle? I plan on drawing his tent, but would like to know where - near the main building? On the outskirts, near the forest?

Same goes for the pilgrims that come due to the festival.

It's a good indication of how the community treats the newcomers (both invited & uninvited newcomers).

PMJbeJ275's discussion: What should we do about this humanoid found hunting so close to our village?

dangelo: Kill it, then find their village and burn it to the ground. Those are cursed beasts from deep into the woods and should bring nothing but harm to our community.

Luccan: If we kill it or keep it locked up, we'll make them mad. They're bigger and more wild than we are. We might not be able to fight them and win

lacco36: I say we try to befriend it. We set it free, seat it at a table, give it food - if it accepts, we keep being friendly. If it attacks, we keep out hunters nearby and kill it. We could use friends up here - allies maybe even more.

So, is Spring at the end?

Also: the map! Week 10 is included, sans the cage.

EDIT: Regional map not yet under way. Works start today.

One thing we should think about is: is the Pilgrim god really something the community embraces? I know he was my idea, but we should definitely investigate other options... by which I mean establish different gods of the local pantheon (if you do not mean to use standard D&D gods). If we go with a new pantheon, this may be one possibility, not necessarily the correct one.

But I think we'll get to the others soon.

I don't think the hunter would've been seated near the center of the village when he arrived. We might let the pilgrims set up in an unused field so they can have some space.

As for gods, it sounds to me like the we're trying more to appease these healers than we are complete devotees to their god. Maybe some will believe more if they help us.

I will post my draw at lunch

    One more card to go!

The pilgrim sounded like the kind of "god of luck" (hermes, mercurio, toth, esú, loki, fharlanghn, desna, tymora, ...) that our peasants could relate to, but I'd like to highlight their ignorance towards the world; I'm afraid that attaching numerous gods and befriending wild creatures too fast might draw us away from the proposed dark fantasy setting, although I'm not sure if we should be discussing this at all

Also: Iirc, if you start a discussion with a question, you get to say something again at the end

Ok, the hunter will go near the forest.

    Pilgrims on the opposite side.

Also: the fortress! So, hould add some more mountains and a visible fortress in the distance? If we consider that the town - visible beyond the mountain - is east, which way should the fortress be?

Oh, so we draw them all? Okay. I'll take the 8 of Hearts and will finalize the spring map today. And then its summer time!

Yes, that is how I envisioned the pilgrim god. The kind of god that walks the world, sometimes helps, sometimes makes mischief, but ultimately tries to teach people. Something between Hastur and Buddha What does he teach? That's up to the game to decide - after all, there can be - and should be - complications.

That said, I will start introducing small and big issues - so far we were successful in everything and there were no real conflicts. From what I remember reading, spring is the most peaceful. Once we get to summer, conflicts will start to arise.

And yes, you remember correctly - you get to voice your own opinion too.

    Luccan's Discussion

Luccan: Should we be welcoming all these strangers into our community? Living alongside so much strangeness, something is bound to go wrong

lacco36: Let's say we build the shrine and even more will come! And they just want to send an acolyte - we need no fledgling cleric, but a skilled healer! Maybe we should have turned to another god - after all, there are at least three temples in the town east.

dangelo: If they look like us, speak our tongue and aren't aggressive, welcome them (even if they're weird looking fellows like the one-eyed hunter). If not, they're nothing but uncivilized barbarians.

    Drawing for summer!

If I understand the rules correctly, it should be determined by the player who started the project - only in case when a project ends sooner than expected (due to a card) the result should be stated by the active player.

You mean the one about the gray guy? It got resolved in the OOC thread (few posts above). I dunno why. But here are the results:

PMJbeJ275's discussion: What should we do about this humanoid found hunting so close to our village?

dangelo: Kill it, then find their village and burn it to the ground. Those are cursed beasts from deep into the woods and should bring nothing but harm to our community.

Luccan: If we kill it or keep it locked up, we'll make them mad. They're bigger and more wild than we are. We might not be able to fight them and win

We are missing your voice on this debate though.

Also: I think we should go a bit darker if we do not want this to be Pleasant Valley

Agreed. Spring has been nice but now the hunter has entered the woods and we're hearing dark whispers below the village. Things should get heavier

That was my bad, I wanted to hear everyone before deciding what to do with my action; in a live game we would finish the discussion round before moving on and it felt like a risky move.

There is actually a... Mechanic? For if you feel you haven't been heard out. It's basically just to remind everyone there's tension in the community and you can get rid of it in a couple ways.

Um, I guess put the mountains behind the village somewhere?

Edit: Further, on the subject of keeping things dark, just so we're all on the same page, the Discover Something action is supposed to be used to introduce tension, mystery, and problems, while the Projects are intended to have beneficial outcomes or at least answers (so it can be slightly negative, like if we didn't get the priests, but we'd know why, like if it had turned out they were slaughtered in their commune or something). So far we've resolved most of our discoveries with Projects

We also have evil looking omnipresent dark clouds, which at least fits the asthetic even if it's not that negative.

Not sure, but I think the player responsible for the week during which the project ends gets to determine it's final outcome; Gotta go check that.

Posting my turn in a few. From what I'm reading, actions should be resolved the week they end. I honestly don't know how to end the thing with the grey beast man, so if someone else wants to take that and we can keep the project ending thing in mind going forward, that's fine by me

Edit: Oh, and apparently we're supposed to name singular characters we introduce. SO that would be the captive, the one-eyed hunter, and the acolyte, yes?

    Working on Projects:

Unless your card specifically told you otherwise (in bold text), the next step is to reduce each project die on the map by 1. If a project reaches 0, the die gets removed and the project is completed. Whoever started the project gets to tell everyone how it turns out, and update the map to reflect its completion.

If a project finishes early (because a card says that “a project finishes early” in bold text), it is instead the responsibility of the active player to tell everyone how it turns out and to update the map.

If your card’s bold text had you place a project die on the map just a moment ago, that die doesn’t reduce during this week. It’s just now getting under way.

When a project gets completed, it is assumed that it went successfully and is beneficial to the community. In some cases, it might make sense to have an investigative project end with a hope dispelled. Even in these cases, the completion of a project should always feel like a step forward, not backward. This doesn’t always mean that the whole community is happy with the results, though.

I checked the rules, whoever starts the project narrates how it ends. Feel free to just post ASAP after we get to the relevant week and we won't worry too much about everything being in exactly the right order I guess?

Oh well, it should still be fun.

Oh, misread it. That's what I get for skimming. I would also support responding to discussions as soon as possible, rather than waiting to post IC.
