Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
Hooray, Bard Magic useful!
DeTess, would you like some kind of roll on Aiden's borrowed skill to estimate the best way to go about this spirit wood experimentation now, or is being temporarilly 'trained' enough to grasp it?Damien Wayne in Molan's Batman {D&D3.5e}

I would like a roll, yes. You're working with fancy new materials, so just being trained doesn't cover everything.

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
Hey, while I'm thinking of things, you should probably think about making a new OOC thread since we hit 50 pages on this one, DeTess. Or has GitP changed that rule over the years?

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
Alrighty. This seems like a great opportunity to use my +8 daily luck doozie, so I'll toss that in.
ArcanaOrSpellcraft - (1d20+19)[25]. +1 more if it's Arcana, because of bardic knowledge applying when I technically don't have any ranks; I'm just 'borrowing' some!
Edit: God bless you, daily luck bonus. You consistently refuse to turn my successes into hypersuccesses, but you do turn my failures into regular successes.Last edited by MrAbdiel; 2023-05-16 at 07:03 PM.

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
I'll make a new thread in a bit, once I'm back at my pc.
@mrabdiel, following one of the crystal veins would be your best bet for getting as much benefit from the spiritwood as possible. If you wanted to enchant something with a couple smaller effects rather than one big thing getting a couple different veins in there would make the enchanting easier, but you'd still lose on overall capacity.
And by capacity I mean the amount of 'free' enchantments you get.Jasnah avatar by Zea Mays

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
I am a bit confused by the current events, but I think the only explanation is that the typical resist/protection from sonic energy spells we find in core d&d books have this harmless vibrations exception automatically built into it?
Otherwise this man's explanations seem contradictory.
Perhaps I should be attempting an arcana roll regardless. (1d20+17)[20]
I still do see the value in a practical field test just to be absolutely certain.Avatar by linklele!

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
@mrabdiel, does Aiden stop by the central plaza to play before heading off to the archives? In that case you'd probably run into Shandara there as she is looking into the sonic protection enchantment.

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
He may indeed! He does have his daily busking for the Stormdrains needy, after all. Although I fear he doesn't have much news for her, nor the magical expertise to offer the spell she's looking to study..

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
I remain mad-keen... but also I am coming down with the flu or something like it so expect my posts to be more nonsensically sporadic than usual.
EDIT:.... I should have posted this in the other OOC. Woops.Last edited by MrAbdiel; 2023-06-26 at 10:57 PM.

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
News isn't really what Shandara needs. She just needs an expert musician with a fine-tuned ear to be able to tell if the subtle dampening is acceptable, or if it's too much of a negative effect on the music.

Re: The Royal Artificery Society - OOC
I honestly forget what the cost is for everything, or what we would charge them at the ranger's guild.
All I do know is that we were trying to aim for a price within their budget (ideally using all or most of it) and then of course after the material costs we make, there's some profit leftover.Avatar by linklele!
