I would like a roll, yes. You're working with fancy new materials, so just being trained doesn't cover everything.

ArcanaOrSpellcraft - (1d20+19)[25]. +1 more if it's Arcana, because of bardic knowledge applying when I technically don't have any ranks; I'm just 'borrowing' some!

@mrabdiel, following one of the crystal veins would be your best bet for getting as much benefit from the spiritwood as possible. If you wanted to enchant something with a couple smaller effects rather than one big thing getting a couple different veins in there would make the enchanting easier, but you'd still lose on overall capacity.

And by capacity I mean the amount of 'free' enchantments you get.

I am a bit confused by the current events, but I think the only explanation is that the typical resist/protection from sonic energy spells we find in core d&d books have this harmless vibrations exception automatically built into it?

Otherwise this man's explanations seem contradictory.

I still do see the value in a practical field test just to be absolutely certain.

Yeah, basically the standard spell would only dampen the sound a little. If you have no immediate IC questions for him he'll cast the spell on the violin as well to show you.

@mrabdiel, does Aiden stop by the central plaza to play before heading off to the archives? In that case you'd probably run into Shandara there as she is looking into the sonic protection enchantment.

He may indeed! He does have his daily busking for the Stormdrains needy, after all. Although I fear he doesn't have much news for her, nor the magical expertise to offer the spell she's looking to study..

News isn't really what Shandara needs. She just needs an expert musician with a fine-tuned ear to be able to tell if the subtle dampening is acceptable, or if it's too much of a negative effect on the music.

I honestly forget what the cost is for everything, or what we would charge them at the ranger's guild.

All I do know is that we were trying to aim for a price within their budget (ideally using all or most of it) and then of course after the material costs we make, there's some profit leftover.
