I wanna watch the road for a few hours, then go to sleep my 8 hours (still on that tree) and wake up near dusk.

No one goes by, however your eyes droop and you yawn often, it takes some willpower to stay awake. Sleep felt heavenly to Theodore as he rested till dusk.

"Thank god the road was quiet." He mumbles to himself. Theodore sits up straight on that branch and eats some of the packed snacks. It makes him think of that poor blind girl.

Theodore will go back to the village. Is it possible to approach by crossing farm fields instead of taking the road?

[B3ZERKER]

Yes. There might be farmers finishing up for the day, working their crops. Though technically it's their lord's land, trampling on their farm might cause them to be irritated.

[dangelo]

Being half an hour away from the village, Theodore decides to go trampling on their farm. Hopefully it's enough time for the night to fall and the farmers leave the fields.

He wants to find a vintage point from where he can spy on the village, or even the church. If that's not possible, he'll try to spy on regular peasants who live closer to the fields.

As night approaches all the farmers appear to be gone. He can spy on either the village or church. Make a stealth check.

He's gonna start with the church. Preferably he would stay 120+ feet away from it - he fears the priest.

As Theodore steps closer to the church, he spots the barmaid, Greta going through it's doors. Listen check if he wants to hear anything going on inside the building from that distance.

Damn. Is there like a town square around the church or can I get even closer without exposing myself? Another Move Silently check?

[B3ZERKER]

You hear from inside the church.
"Greta! How are you child?"
"I am well Father..."
"Good, have you come to... confess your sins?"
"..Yes.."

[B3ZERKER]

Unfortunately, the only entrance is through the front doors. The doors are open however. Move Silently check if you wish to move inside.

[dangelo]

Shoot. That was bad. Going in would be too risky... but Theodore had already lost a full day. Theodore takes a full minute to remove his armor, then he stashes it among the bushes, hoping to be able to retrieve it soon.

You manage to enter the church. Greta and Renauld are nowhere to be seen, however the door to the backrooms is open, unlikely given the cold. The church itself is spotless.

He dares to step forward again, trying to pick up any sounds before sneaking by the door.

[B3ZERKER]

There are no sounds. As Theodore reachs the door, he can see a hatch which presumably leads to a basement. There are tomes and crude, metal devices which appear to be used to gather confessions.

Theodore tests the doors. If they can be closed and locked from the inside without making a lot of noise, that's what he is going to do.

They can be opened with ease. There is a bar on the other side. In the hatch itself, it's not just composed of wood, it also has a layer of thick wool. It seems to be soundproofed.

[dangelo]

Theodore will approach carefully the hatch, trying to pick up any movement in the darkness with his ears.

"Now then, we can be done with the pretenses."
"I..I.."
"Don't worry, this time I don't want cheap sex from a whore like you. Tell me about the girl, Anna."
"That wasn't part-"
There was a smacking sound and then whimpering.
"Part of what? The deal was I keep that witch alive for the pleasure of your company. My patience has grown thin however. And after speaking with some of the villagers, I've found out some very interesting information. So I'll ask again, what do you know about her? You know I have the means to make you talk and I have no issue burying your body in the snow afterwards. So, impress me."

[dangelo]

Theodore fights the urge to run away and find Don. Instead, though, he fears for Greta and decides to stick around and try to find out more. Do they keep talking?

[B3ZERKER]

"What do you want to know? She's a child-"
"Spare me your lies, wench!" Another smacking sound came from the basement.
Between the sobbing, the voice that belonged to Renauld inquired.
"Eyes of glass. Almost precognitive instinct. If I'm right, the clergy would make me a bishop, nay a cardinal!
What else can she do?"
"She..she can read people's minds. I think."
"YES! I was right! Good, good Greta. I would kill you but.. it seems to be far more fun to leave you alive, as
those that you trust realise you betrayed them so cruelly. Why don't you have a cry about it, you worthless trash as I go find your little friend?"

[dangelo]

Theodore's heart rushes. He had to do something fast.
He tries to leave the church immediately. He could take the child and run away, though Don and Greta would suffer the consequences. He could take Don too and come back to save Greta, but only assuming she would still be alive and well. There was just no time.

Can Theodore run to the tavern before the Priest spot him?
