Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
I think I might have gone from "not eating much fiber" to "eating a normal amount of fiber, or possibly more" too quickly.
Ow.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
Don't forget there are two kinds of fiber, and they do opposite things. Soluble fiber drinks up water and slows you down, insoluble fiber runs through you and cleans up things as it does. So for instance Carrots are not a good way to get 50 grams of fiber a day, I have torn things going that route before.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
If I had infinite resources to work with, My ideal home would be a fortress on the outside and cozy on the inside.
Outside of town proper, the property would have a high stone wall with a gate with tall trees and rose bushes planted strategically to both give a cozy natural feel and to limit the ability of anyone who managed to jump the wall to sneak around the property.
The house proper would have an old-fashioned cast-iron fence around it and heavy doors with multiple locks. Security cameras on the wall and around the house, windows made of shatter-resistant glass.
The inside would be a simple bedroom, a den equipped with bookshelves and a comfortable chair, a kitchen(I don't particularly need a dining room,) a separate TV room, a room for exercise equipment, and a large space for storage.
Safe and cozy.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

The snakes of the guns?
If the snakes, those are just as dangerous to me or, say, the delivery guy, as they are to intruders. It only takes one pizza guy to get bitten by a venomous rattlesnake before I'm blacklisted and have to go into town to pick up my stuff myself.Last edited by Rater202; 2021-03-11 at 03:23 PM.

So what you're saying is anyone can breach your fortress by simply putting on a hat with a pizza store logo?

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
A swamp cooler uses the heat of vaporization of water to reduce the air temperature (and increase the humidity). A dehumidifier leaves the temperature constant and reduces the humidity. One is for places that are hot and dry, the other for places that are decent and humid. Neither is perfect, and neither works south of the Mason-Dixon line and east of the Mississippi, but they both improve the habitability of dwellings.

Has anyone else gotten a mosquito bite in the middle of a bruise, and the bruise becomes less swollen as a result?
It's not worth it, but it has happened to me before.

Hypothetically, if I developed the means to grant anyone perfect immortality, godlike physical and mental attributes, and a flawless ideal body that you can alter to your whim, how many people here would accept it if I offered it to them?

Yeah. An eternity watching humanity make the exact same screw ups over and over and over is a booby prize. It's bad enough watching it for 8 decades or so.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
Yeah, but perfect immortality negates most of the things that people think of as "worse than death."
The way I define it pretty much the only thing perfect immortality and the other stuff in the package I'm offering doesn't protect from is getting stranded in the cold void of space, and honestly, I'm not seeing how that's gonna happen.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
Because I learned back in the 90's that if I put all the cheat codes on my games I get bored of them easily.
Now, Rater, if you were to offer health and wealth such that I could lie in a hammock and read a book and play with my child and cook nice meals and never have to worry about spending most of my days at work or chronic back pain, that I would take you up on in an instant. I don't mind growing old, I don't mind passing when my time has come. But actually having all that time to decide how I want, that would be a gift indeed.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Yes, and the beach of part of the United States but if you want me to have the whole thing then honestly I can get by without the Dakotas. I just want the beach.
Also, you didn't have wealth in there, so I'd still have to work. Time working is time not playing with my baby.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
If being smarter, faster, stronger, tougher, healthier, more able to work without rest, cleverer, wiser, and better able to learn than any man or woman who has ever lived by a factor so great that people would believe that you were a god if you told them so doesn't allow you the means to quickly acquire all the currency you could ever need with minimal effort then I think you have bigger problems than needing to work.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
Go make a resume and put "smarter, faster, stronger, tougher, healthier, more able to work without rest, cleverer, wiser, and better able to learn than any man or woman who has ever lived by a factor so great that you would believe that I am a god" on a resume, see how it works out for ya. Unless you're encouraging becoming a supercriminal, of course.
Also, most of those weren't stipulated. You said healthy and immortal. Intelligence, wisdom, stamina, etc. are not part of what most people think when you say healthy and immortal. If you want riders like that, then explicitly attach them.
ETA: Actually scratch that. You did say godlike mental and physical attributes. But still no, because then you have the Dr. Manhattan problem.Last edited by Peelee; 2021-03-12 at 07:57 PM.

Actually what I said was
Hypothetically, if I developed the means to grant anyone perfect immortality, godlike physical and mental attributes, and a flawless ideal body that you can alter to your whim, how many people here would accept it if I offered it to them?
I assumed by your cheat-code comment that you understood what I meant by Godlike physical and mental attributes.
Edit: The doctor Manhattan problem comes from the combination of being nigh-omnipotent while lacking free will.
Neither applies in this case.Last edited by Rater202; 2021-03-12 at 08:00 PM.

Re: DataNinja's Scintillating Digital Random Banter #231
Still applies. You are a human among ants. You yourself put it succinctly; your mind is godlike compared to everyone else. You still very much have the Dr. Manhattan problem, except you can't fly to Mars. You're just stuck in a land of idiots. It would be unbelievably isolating.
