For some reason I was thinking extreme violence, but if Mr. Scruffy making Evisceratus' name literal didn't need it then I'm not sure what would. :-\

Edit: And Vaarsuvius was hidden by the dragon's tail when Durkon dispelled the lizard polymorph, so that's not it.

Edited edit: Aha! Sorry for the ramble, I should have trusted my memory sooner: Elan did it twice, the second time being in Azure City.

Elan being invisible on the streets of Azure City was appreciated. Find me another OotS member receiving the opposite reaction for the same action.

Is it this one, which was in the answer to the last question? I'm assuming the use of "invisible" is in the same sense Elan uses it.

That strip was among the answers for my previous question. I meant someone from the order being actually invisible in the streets of Azure City.

I am not looking for any of the three strips that were the answer to my previous question I was trying to be clever by asking for a contrast to 302 right after a question that had 302 among its answers.

This is what I wanted. OQ.

Haha, I knew what you meant, I just couldn't resist making a literalist joke out of it.

Belkar is one of many people who ain't Boris Karloff.

What, mentioned a few pages ago, turn out to be totally useless?

Not sure if the post below (three pages ago) might be what you had in mind: It mentions Old Blind Pete throwing Crystal off the trail by answering "Have you seen Haley?" with "No" -- which was funny, but turnd out to be totally useless considering he sold them out 21 strips later (2nd page, next to last panel).

I don't think that qualifies because the 'mentioned a few pages ago' is an in-comic reference, and there are 21 pages between those strips.

Huh. I was certain the question was about this thread.

So, you want us to find a strip n in which something is mentioned that turns out to be useless in strip n + <5?

This one's bugging me, so much that I'm delaying getting ready for work. Which I definitely wouldn't have been inclined to do anyway, flap flap flap flap (last panel). (^_~)°

I might just be spitballing, but maybe "a few pages ago" refers to this moment in time where 1230 is the current comic. In that case, maybe O-Chul's correct assessment of why the trolls saved Serini (1227:10-11) qualifies as having turned out to be useless (1227:12)?

If not... I'm kinda lost, if it's not either your surmise or "Something between 1224 and 1227 turns out to be useless after a development in 1230". (But I don't think anything fits the latter description.)

It's a bit simpler I think. Something a character mentioned in strip n- <10 turns out to be useless in strip n. Also they, in comic, called out that they mentioned it a few pages ago. Sorry for the confusing question.

    So not about 1230 specifically?

I thought maybe it would be the adamantine weapons they buy in tinkertown that are totally useless for their fight against crystal, but I don't see a strip where they mention it again.

After several trackdowns of events that proved to be same-strip or outside 10 strips (like the Bag of Tricks providing hors d'oeuvres to the ogres 14 strips later), I found one where V and Haley talk about saving bags of treasure in 243, then 245 shows the bottlecap aficionado thanking them for rescuing his (comparatively worthless) collection. (^_^)b

Politicians often get make meaningless gestures, like "explore appointing a committee to study whether action is needed" when useful actions are very much needed. Find me a politician saying they'll (paraphrased) make a motion to disapprove of something when decisionmaking resumes, and it's actually a great response to the situation.

You reminded me of when Haley shot Sabine with two arrows to try to figure out which one would hurt her, then realized she still didn't know... unfortunately, all in the same strip. (^_~)

    Edit: Ticky reword.

That must be "I'll move to censure once we're back in session."

Well done. The strip I had in mind was actually 1125, where Blackwing's sunglasses have no effect on the battle.

I hope panel 6 is what you had in mind, even though sad isn't the first word I would use here.

Find me three cases of bad spelling. Not in a speech bubble or in Durkon's transcribing-his-accent letter(s).
