Easy enough to figure out. We enter Mechanicsburg here at the end of February 2007.

We leave Mechanicsburg here in May of 2013, roughly 6 years and 3 months later.

We start going to England here in July of 2017. To the present day, that's nearly 4 years.

I think we're unlikely to break the record, I can't see too much more happening in England beyond the current confrontation with Madwa. It's still shocking that we've been in England for 4 freaking years.

Is this confrontation with Madwa connected to the corrupted waters the Great Cetaceans want Agatha's help with? If not, that could be another thing they have to deal with. Possibly featuring the reappearance of Doctor Dim?

I think the problem of England sinking is on Albia's largish plate.
I think that successful diplomacy with the cetaceans may be helpful in that regard.
I think that whatever Madwa, Steelegarter, et al are up to is almost certainly related to the Corrupted Waters, as well as The Other and Prende's Lantern (because why not have everything tie together)?

I'm kinda-sorta thinking that Albia being destroyed is perhaps necessary for Agatha to step up and achieve Queen; sort-of like Colette became Master of Paris when her father was murdered. OTOH the foreshadowing of Agatha we've seen don't seem to show her having achieved Queen status.

Question raised: Albia has many daughters, and perhaps sons (although I don't think we've seen one). This implies some sort of exchange of bodily fluids with some sort of consort. Does she shrink down to human size, wait until she cools off, and then reproduce normally? Or some sort of artificial mechanism?

Anyway, if Albia dies, does Trelawny take over as ruler?

It's ungentlemanly to speculate on Her Majesty's... leisure time.

No? Trelawney's just a spy, that's pretty low on the hierarchy. And as you've said, Albia's got adult children.

With that said, should Albia die, I'm not sure how well England would manage to carry on, she seems pretty central to their national identity.

I fully expect Albia to die before this is over. More likely one of her daughters will become (a mortal) Queen then Trelawney, but the latter is not impossible. I doubt it will trigger a Queendom change in Agatha, because I also predict we're going to learn how exactly Albia maintains her power, and it's not going to be pleasant.

Krosp quite literally smells a rat. As does Violetta, although she lacks the familiarity and went with rotting wet socks.
Millions of them? Is this literal? Because that's a weird ecosystem. What do they eat when they can't get hobbits Sparks?
Our heroes are now trapped on an island with millions? of horrible rats, bioengineered to be dangerous.

Maybe they won't be afraid of Krosp - but will they recognize him as their King?

Why would they recognize krosp as their king? He is the emperor of cats, not rats. As for millions of rats, you think the bad guys care that the island will be stripped bare of resources in short order once they have whatever they are after? For all we know these are short life rats. They rampage for a week then die. Or the scientist has a rat stasis technique to shut them down when they arent required to rampage, like a million winter soldiers. And as someone pointed out, rats arent going to be scared of cats. Even regular rats can take down cats in the right circumstances. Rats can be pretty big. The largest being 3.5 pounds and nearly three feet long from nose to tail. And the common rats can chew through concrete. And if the spark HASNT created an ROUS breed yet, she is sleeping on the job.

This raises a question (since if you have one-week-rats, you have to know which week for which to have them active) -- did this villain trio know that they heroes were coming? Yes, they had a mole/saboteur onboard, but did that individual have the ability to communicate "we're coming, will be there tomorrow" to the island somehow, or was he just orchestrating a prepared plan of 'if someone seeks out this island get them down onto the island' and the main villains realize today was the day things hit the fan when airship showed up?

Yeah, that was where my mind started going first. Don't know if I'd go so far as to say he's a revanent, unless we get some new info, but I am very curious if Agatha's machine is smarter than she is in terms of identifying potential threats. After all, ignoring all Otherness, we do know Rakethorn is ultimately loyal to Albia, and Albia likely still wants Agatha to stay in her garden.

Rakethorn declines to be a test subject for a spark-created machine? That's not a sign of being a revanent, that's a sign of not being stupid.

Rakethorn has (presumably) been within range of Agatha's Wasp Eater, and it hasn't gone off yet. I very much doubt that he's a revanent.

I'm betting on hordes of ROUS, and the landing party forming a phalanx of sorts and stacking corpses before them to form a wall. Are you going to charge a line anchored by Higgs and Zeetha flanked by Dr. Dim's bears? With Sparks raining death rays or equivalent from the second rank?

At some point even mutant crazed ROUS get the point that they aren't getting through.

If you have short shelf life rats, then you should also have a way to produce them at need or else they arent very useful. Either a hyper fast gestation and maturation period, or just extensive stasis pods to store them till its time.

I'm betting on something especially weird about these rats, like phasing (ghost rats!) or each generation adapting specifically to counter the threat the horde is facing.

There's a lot of ways for rats to be "wrong".
    1. The classic ROUS
    2. The perhaps-even-more-classic plague rat
    3. Unusually hungry
    4. Misshapen - extra legs, extra heads, extra tails
    5. Emit poisonous gas (except why wouldn't Vi & Krosp have smelled it?)
    6. Intelligent. The Sparks are about to be overrun by 10,000 copies of The Brain
    7. Combinations of the above
