[IC][Journeys through Waterdeep] Episode 1: A city in crisis

Red had instinctively closed this wings across his face. When he looked up again, he saw the squire running towards the source of the explosion.
Sighing, he spread his wings and took to the air, also aiming for the source of the explosion:
"This city is getting a bit unstable for my taste. See you at the crater."

Ser Jocelyn de Oswald Half-Elf Fighter AC: 18 HP: 5/13 PP: 10 PIv: 14 PIs: 10 Conditions: counts as undead for healing Concentration: - Jocelyn would have never thought he would follow others again. He was born to lead, to guide others, not follow. But this day was already pretty exhausting on his nerves. As the exasperated knight follows the group, an explosion throws dust into the air. Commoners vacate the area in panic, screaming against them. Jocelyn draws his blade as to force them to make space for his and his kin. What in the Nine Hells is going on? he shouts and overtakes the group. Juliana, we can calm the crowd after we dealt with the source of the panic. I need you at the front, now!

Juliana runs to catch up to Jocelyn. She kept her eyes open for any problems and wished she had a shield at this moment. I am right behind you Sir. Maybe a dragon has been born or a lava monster, which ever I am ready.

If we encounter something beyond our ability, I want us to keep it busy until the guard can mount a defense. he adds while clanging onto his shield. You others? do what you do best I guess.

"Less talking, more running - or flying!" Red replied from above. He was steadily gaining height in an attempt to see what was going on ahead.

You pass through the city parts some and make it the around the explosion. It looks like it used to be the spot for a wealthy family with their dwelling with some surrounding buildings affected as well. The city watch blocks access to the site fully though

"Pretty quick response from the guards." Red called down to his companions while still flying higher to get a good view of the devastation.
"Though I must say their efforts would be better spend looking for hurt people instead of keeping helpers away."

I am a cleric here to help , let my companions and I through so we can help. Juliana says looking for a guard with more stripes than the rest.

Gwen lets out a low whistle. “Juliana, unless you know both Raise Dead and Reassemble Bomb Victim, you can probably say last rites as easily from here as over there.”

Gwen I will need your help to move bodies if you are not to drunk . Juliana says holding her tongue as she moves past the guards hoping the rest will follow.

Gwen does not move. Her experience with the rigid caste system of her mother's people has taught her to dislike systems, dislike uniforms, and especially dislike being outnumbered.

She does nothing to provoke the guards.

As it seemed that the guards would let a cleric and their... assistants pass, Red thought nothing of it when he passed the cordon to get a closer look on what was happening around the place.

You find a building set aside as a hospital and there are beings being treated inside. The clerics working inside are thankful for your assistance.

Red thought that he might have spotted something off about the part of a nearby building but figures it is just the lighting or something.

Red mentioned his fleeting impression to his compatriots: "Something feels off about that building there, but I can't put my finger on it."
Employing what little medical help he could give, he kept his eyes open for any onlookers that might have been involved in the bombing.

Juliana will cast cure light wounds on those she thinks she can save. She will use persuasion to gently ask if anyone saw anything suspicious.

Gwen hesitates for a moment, then heads off to an adjoining alley. She's looking for someplace she can (discreetly) climb up to rooftop height and survey the scene from above.

There appears to be no one to be seen, except there is what appears to be a number of figures carefully trying to look like that they aren't slinking away. Their stiffness in trying to appear panicked and worried, makes it look like they are faking it.

Red decided to follow Gwen, since there was little else he could do at the moment.

Juliana asks anyone who is conscious Hey are you alright? Were you with anyone? Did you see anything unusual?

No one in the immediate area of Juliana have anything they could tell her.

Gwen moves to pursue those figures carefully trying to look like they aren't slinking away.

Anything she can tell about them? She'll try to pursue without being spotted.

Juliana stays with the injured until someone with more healing powers shows up.

Clerics arrive to take over the healing from Juliana.

Those moving strangely appear to be looking like people. Though they seem have some bulges in their clothes.

Gwen tries to get closer to spy on the odd people.

In what way are they moving strangely? Can I identify the race/ type of creature?

The individuals move about as if they are acting like they are panicking and worried but it appears to be forced or it comes across as forced. Almost as if they know the explosion was going to happen...

They are a little bit difficult to see to an accurate idea of what race they happen to be

Red still flew overhead, following Quen at a distance, keeping an eye out for where she was heading.

Gwen moves in to get closer to the shambling creatures. She doesn't try to engage them, and she does her best to avoid being spotted by them. She'll follow them if they're leaving the area.

Juliana heads to the tavern unsure of what else to do.

The group (people) heads off, moving gingerly along as if they were still injured and reacting normally. once they get what they believe to be far enough away, they completely drop the act. moving along further with a sense of purpose and general happiness
