Pics or it didn't happen. Mostly because they already had the props built, so I'm wondering why. Maybe a perspective shot?

Okay, I can't find a still right now (mostly becaus eI don't remember which episode exactly it was in), but during the black-and-white days, they only had like three dalek props which lead to issues whenever they needed a crowd of daleks. In the scene I have in mind the first row of daleks is made of "real" daleks, while the second row is made of cardboards.

Oh, and there's the army of action figure daleks, too.

My memory of tHHGttG is that the BBC Radiophonic Workshop did some good work with sound effects, but there was no imagery of any sort, other than within my own head. Nor did the dead-tree books that Adams subsequently converted this into have any illustrations.

The radioplay was really fun but they got to the tanks way too early in that version IMO. Show was alright, nothing really impressed me other than the hand-drawn animation (though it also looked like they were making the most with what they had to work with, so I don't fault them at all). I hated their Trillian and Zaphod, and Ford Prefect was too normal. Good Arthur Dent though.

The movie had missteps but I enjoyed it a lot. Mos Def (who I already loved in all the roles I've seen him in) was the perfect Ford Prefect. If they ever do any other adaptations, he is the gold standard all other Fords will be judged against. Dude knocked it out of the park.

My (disabled) cousin might have Covid again.

We're awaiting test results but he's got the symptoms and his caretakers, the ones who refused to step foot in his house when he was sick the last time, are now apparently refusing to get vaccinated or take basic safety measures among other poor behavior.

I will never cease to be amazed at how childlike some people will react to things. Like refusing to get a free vaccine during a pandemic.

Apparently the company is trying to "talk" to them about it.

Bitch, don't 'talk' to them about it, their entire job is taking care of people who can't take care of themselves. Taking a vaccine for a potentially deadly disease during a pandemic is not their choice anymore, if they don't get vaccinated they could get someone killed.

That's when the ultimatums come out: "Either get the vaccine or turn in your two weeks notice. We cannot be liable for people killed or injured due to your selfishness, refusal to comply will result in your termination" is the only thing that the company needs to say to these morons.

They've also apparently started treating his house as a place to hang out and have started using his time going out to either run their own errands or do things they wanted to do instead of actually taking care of him or doing what he wants.

I don't think they see my cousin as a person.

Wait, they're professional caretakers? If you can call any shots here or have the ear of someone who can, I'd recommend calling the company and saying you refuse any caretakers who aren't vaccinated, and will not be paying for services not received. YMMV on how far that actually gets you, but it makes your position known at the start and puts them in the position of now knowing exactly what the clients wishes are.

Also, man, that typo on "shots" would have made for a very silly sounding sentence.

I've told my aunt to do something similar but it was ver a speaker call and I don't know if she will.

My aunt is not the brightest person and tends to panic instead of stand up for herself.

A frequent occasion is that someone from somewhere is trying to screw her over and/or gave her confusing instructions and my mother will spends says talking to her on speaker trying to convince her to of what to do and it seems to take forever before she actually does the thing.

A lot of group homes and caretakers she's tried with my cousin before this seemed to resent the fact that she wouldn't sign away custody and at least one place was out and out abusive.

I don't know the details but apparently, someone at the current company wanted to put my cousin in a group home and take his house... Apparently not realizing that my cousin lives in a house that my aunt owns. That got shut down pretty quick but...

It's sad, it's really sad.

Doctor Who had cardboard cut-outs of daleks at least once and I'm halfway sure it happened again.

Crowd scenes. Four Daleks were built for the first Dalek serial, I think there were ten by the second, and poor storage meant by Day of the Daleks there were three, which didn't get replaced until the Imperial/Renegade split. Well, except for the wooden Daleks, which couldn't move their plunger, egg whisk, or eye stalk and had no rollers to help them move smoothly.

But you can see the cardboard Daleks in The Daleks if I'm not mistaken, used to make Dalek operations look more busy when there's only four props.

Bare in mind that The Daleks was a fairly ambitious story for the budget they had back then, and as a first attempt at monster design they're shockingly well done. But at this point Doctor Who was meant to be a mostly educational time filler in a half hour slot the BBC needed content for, the budget wasn't large because it was assumed half the stories would steal from the Period Drama wardrobe, the third story was made on a shoestring budget, and the historical stories were still as accurate as they could make them. I mean we still have a pair of teachers as TARDIS prisonerstravellers to helo teach the kids about science and history.

Plus they didn'thave the quarry, so they still needed to build alien planets.


Also, yeah. If I'd finished work on the mind control satellite the vaccine would be required for everybody in a care role. Which to be fair would be easy to enforce, see 'mind control satellite'.

Yeah, they should take the vaccine. It's irresponsible and short sighted not to do so. If they don't take the vaccine they have no business being caretakers.
