Default D&D 3.5 Incantatrix and Body outside Body

    Hello Giantsintheplayground!

Once again, i seek help and you have always been good to answer my questions and offer good advice.

I am curious about Body outside body, Wu jen spell and Prc Incantatrix, specific Cooperative Metamagic.

For your infomation: currently playing in a gestalt 3.5 game, where i have a conjurer specialist, we get feats at every odd lvl, like in pathfinder. ALL books including third party publishers. So i would have no problem in getting Body outside body on my wizard.

    Here is the question:

1: Assuming that two Incantatrixes are working together, with a third spellcaster, let us say a sorcerer for good sake. Both incantatrixes will ready a action to use Cooperative metamagic for the sorcerer.

How would the spellcraft check be calculated?

Incantatrix A will use empower spell (+2 spell lvl)

Incantatrix B will use Maximise spell (+3) spell lvl)

The sorcerer will be casting Horrid wilting (8th lvl spell)

    A:

Incantatrix A will have to make a spellcraft DC 48 (18+(3 x modified spelllvl)) for Empower spell to work.

Incantatrix B will have to make a spellcraft DC 51 (18+(3x modified spelllvl)) for Maximise spell to work.

Sorcerer will cast a Empowered maximised Horrid wilting

This is the “dream” version of how to calculate this.

    The idea:

Assuming that my conjurer specialist live that long, getting my hands on Body outside body and enough Incantatrix lvls to use Cooperative Metamagic. I would find another way increase my Spellcraft by feats and diverse class features, for the clones.

So i cast Body outside body in the first round. In the second round, i would cast a Cone of cold and using the clones for Cooperative Metamagic, making it easier to stack multiple metamagic effects. The basis for this, is that the clones each add only one metamagic at the same time, thus the rather “low” spellcraft DC. Sort of like Narutos shadow clones helping him with Rasengan.

    Or

I would have to calculated as if just one Incantatrix did added both metamagic spells, giving the clones a total DC 60.

I know, that this is a long shot and i dont have high hopes for the dream version but i would like to hear other peoples thoughts about this.

Simultaneous actions in combat aren't really a thing in 3.5. The readied actions would therefore occur in some order. Going forward I will assume for simplicity the Empower-adder goes first.

    1. Sorcerer casts Horrid Wilting, a level 8 spell.
    2. ICX 1 uses Cooperative Metamagic to add Empower Spell to Horrid Wilting. The spell is now effective level 10, and the DC is 18+3*10=48.
    3. ICX 2 uses Cooperative Metamagic to add Maximize Spell to Empowered Horrid Wilting. The spell is now effective level 13, and the DC is 18+3*13=57.

If the GM does allow simultaneous actions, that doesn't help you. In that case they're both modifying a spell with Cooperative such that its effective level is 13, and they both must make a spellcraft check with a DC of 57.

That said, boosting spellcraft to those levels is certainly feasible. See the old Incantatrix Handbook for details.
