Say at the Final Battle, Xykon is confronted by an opponent as powerful or more powerful than he is:

Powerful Opponent: Prepare to be annihilated, vile undead scum!
Xykon: Annihilated?!? What for?
PO: Because you are of the unliving! Your very existence is an affront to the good and pure!
X: Oh, because I look different then you have license to wipe me out! Is that it???
PO: But your kind is dedicated to killing everyone . . .
X: My kind?!? What, because I happen to have less skin than you I'm somehow less than you?
PO: Not exactly, but . . .
X: You don't think that I see the beauty of a flower, and it just kills me that I can't appreciate it like you can?
PO: Wow, I never thought of it that way.
X: Just turn around and take a look at the sun over there - it's teeming with life and energy, but all I feel is empty cold.
PO: You know, I think I misjudged you. If you can appreciate the life of the sun, then maybe together we can
X: Epic level drain
X: Ha! "Beauty of a flower" - who believes that stuff?!?

Note: There's almost no way this would happen. Xykon can be deceptive, but he almost always favors power, with a side of more power, and then an extra helping of power. But it would make me laugh if it did.
