The once and future Harem

"I...I might know a guy? I'm not sure if this is the right island, though..." Morrigan says, before digging out her phone and looking through her contacts. "A couple years back, we were visiting Yellowstone. It was storming all day, but nothing we couldn't handle - we stay pretty well prepared when we go on road trips. The storm was pretty bad for the whole area, but especially around us lightning strikes had been occurring most of the day. Most of them didn't get too close, but it was all the same general area. At some point, I guess it must've been one too many blasts to the Earth, because suddenly the ground beneath us started quaking and the guide freaked out - something about Caldera getting triggered? Found out later that the various lightning strikes had been long enough and frequent enough to shift the tectonic plates minutely and the supervolcano was acting up."

"So anyway, the ground starts quaking and I go slipping and sliding down the hill. I end up bowling over this cute guy whose down there communing with the spirits or whatever. He took one look at me and started focusing his attention on reducing my... she waves a hand around her head vaguely, "...issues. It didn't really work, but apparently the elemental magicks were flowing through me as some kind of conduit to make the area more prone to lightning strikes and earthquakes and eruptions? He pulled some tricky spells and reduced my ability to act as a conduit. It didn't last more than a few days, but it lasted long enough for him to calm Caldera down. We got coffee afterwards - apparently he's a Hawai'ian lava mage who was working as a specialist keeping the supervolcano from erupting inconveniently. He kinda laughed when I asked what would qualify as a convenient eruption."

"We chat now and then about new developments with my stuff, seeing if this or that person was able to help. He knows a lot of mages and sorceresses from doing work like this, and at least could point me in the direction of a few that don't really advertise themselves. He's offered to escort me a bit if I ever came to Hawai'i while he was home from work...maybe a bit less because he's really interested in giving me the tour, and more because he wants to be on-site just in case I somehow trigger another eruption. Not that it would be a concern, since there's probably a sorcerer or sorceress who could deal with such things."

She starts texting her friend. <3

Luck. Justification here is that the worse the disaster in her story was at the time, the more likely the given mage would be willing to drop what they're doing and come help out for a bit. If she loses...well he's just really not available right now, but will probably contact the authorities to warn them of some potentially-imminent dangers. Does that all make sense? :p
