The Squares need a little bit more muscle if we are going to have a chance against the Dwarves (and really, any team in the playoffs), so lead scout Shosho has snooped around the Snotling chatlines and learned of a Human Blitzer that is desperate for a team.

The Squares have hired Lord Rupert Everton (a Blitzer), depleting our treasury completely and putting our team value at 1340.

    Orky Singularity too far?

The celebrations of the divine event consumed the orks everywhere. Horses and wagons painted red (preferably with real blood) were faster than those not. Tying an ork's broken spinal cord back together had the ork up and (mostly) running again in no time (most of the time). It is a simple fact for orks.

But even for orks themselves the final event of last week's game amazed them. It was obsessed over for days. Could it be done again some day? There was no end to drinks and squig snacks for the now three extra bulky team mates.

Suddenly everyone realized a week had gone by and it was game time against the dwarves. The bulky stars were in no shape to play. All played anyway but the game was secondary in their minds. Even in the state they were in the Lads barely squeaked by.

Big Red had let his army celebrate. Now it was time to get back to work.

Time to get back to winning and make mincemeat of some skaven!

Updated my roster, Bubsy got Diving Tackle. Hope it's effective and turns him into paste deadly tackleblocking machine of death.

Team Preview will be used for MONEYS. To be done when I'm finished with planning the terrible things... assuming Mordar does not let go of half his team, we should work with 1760 - 1180 = 580,000 in inducements...

    Gameplan:

    2GPP = #7: Zdochlak Skapacinnins gets Catch
    3GPP = #1 Stromcok gets Tackle
100K for Master Chef. That's definitely something.
160K for hiring Hoshi Komi. Let's have someone who can actually move around.
    200K random inducement = (1d10)[8]
    100K random inducement = (1d10)[3]

We'll see. Hope I don't get 3 healers and shrunk in the wash...

We did not get the worst ones...

    8. Orcidas Sponsorship
One player from your team has been selected to field-test the latest innovation in Blood Bowl footwear. These air-elemental filled soles make the player especially light on their feet.
#7: Zdochlak Skapacinnins gets +1 MV and gains the Sprint and Sure Feet skills for the next match. He's the runner now.

    3. All for One and One for All
This weeks training was all about teamwork. The squad that stays together doesnít get mashed into pulp.
#3: Woodpuccinni gains the Guard and Side-step skills for the next match. Go Team Tree!

    Stormkiller's gameplan for the Killaz:
    1) Jackhammer gets Block. His temporary player value plus having only one other player (unskilled lineorc Bad Dog) should get Jackhammer on the field from the start. If not please let me know.

That was the most unsatisfying of matches for the players, the fans, the coaching staff...everyone. Inability to handle the ball, another match where one of the key stars was out of action or utterly ineffective (in this case two!), and failing to execute when the game was on the line. Perhaps the team has gone soft. Perhaps the All Star "break" made it difficult to return to form. Perhaps foul sorcery came into play and tainted the result. In any event, the team will work extra this week, that is for certain. Wait, does this sound familiar? It should. The trend of falling flat on their highly agile faces has moved to a trend of fumbled passes, high-frequency inability to gather up the ball, and a general inability to perform at a level appropriate for a team with this rating and array of Agility 4 players with 4 rerolls, multiple Pro skills and an occasional Leader as backup. Maybe someone owes Goblin Gambling some unpayable debts.

While traditional Blood Bowl logic suggests that the best way to "get healthy" is to schedule a match against a halfling team, that might only apply to the bashier types who seem capable of not regularly defying 35 in 36 odds to avoid failure. It seems we'll see, as there will again be three trees on the field and an array of fae dancing on the sward. With the addition of a footwear sponsorship (for folk who do not traditionally wear footwear ), the Facepalmers will surely move at better than a Snailpace, and a laudable focus on protecting his tiny friends has further increased the damage the second-best Facepalmer treeman is likely to do. Coupled with the strangely capable Stormcok we might be well served rooting for a rainout. Scouts suggest that the normal elusiveness of the halflings has been supplemented by fancy shoes that seem to propel at least Zdochlak to elf-like speed. Odds are he'll cross the end line at least once this week. The question is...with Tapio's sudden pedestrian turn, will that be enough to give the gastrophiles their third tie or their first win?

    Game Plan
    Oakbranch learns Block
    Nightthorn learns Tackle
Sunthicket visits the sidelines as an Assistant Coach

    Apothecary for after the game

    Preview for bonus winnings.

Funny enough, Iíve noticed the surprise trend as well. I chalk it up to sorcery myself. That seems to be the only reasonable explanation at this point.

    Team preview
    Good news for the elves:
    • two trees only
    • not the best possible result on the inducement roll (e.g. 3 boneheaded players + 1 "no hands" player = bad day for elves)
    • you are playing halflings; avoid trees (no tree-hugging, guys, it's a trap!)

    Semi-bad news for the elves:
    • Halflings have been finally told running goes better with shoes! Due to not being used to moving at high speeds, it's assumed the one who got the shoes lands on his face spectacularly while trying to get up to speeds unknown to halflingdom (only in halfling legends there is a clan called "joggers").
    • There is at least one player capable of running (yes, we hired one! unsurprisingly, he's not a halfling).
    • Stromcok. 'nuff said. Also: two trees guarding the middle. Yes, you can run around them. Yes, they'll take root and just stand there like two overpriced maypoles while elves run around them like kids with those ribbons. But at least for the first round every turnover there'll be some fun for them.
    • Both trees have Guard. If the team mortician plants the trees correctly, we may get a halfling in the middle that gets +2 to block, which means... ST 4 for the halfling. Teamwork! Go Team Tree!

The gameplan is simple: if we get to move first, remove up to 3 players from the game (every kickoff). We can afford to lose some halflings, but if enough elves are removed from the equation, and enough halflings are standing around the one who can pick up the ball, and nobody trips over their own shoelaces (we had to learn to tie shoelaces, if there is a loss of match, we're blaming the shoes) we're eventually going to score. Maybe. The only thing that can stop us is death and timer. We need to get the runner guy a chance to shine. We'll fight hard for a tie (and if we don't get it, we buy a tie, preferably dark elven velvet). In worst case, let's at least throw a halfling or two and aim for some elves. Hope they stand near each other - we could get a domino-effect.

Long-term plan: if Bubsy levels up, get Frenzy. Halfling trollslayer would be fun to watch for the one game before he gets killed. Also, try not to get too many halflings killed, we're saving moneys for the Crud! Cup. The opponent will be below our team value, so we'll need enough inducements moneys to pump up chances.

For this week, meetings were held in the secret meeting room, so no in-character previews.

@Mordar: if I could, I'd give you 10K for my next halfling team name. Gastrophiles. Sounds fancy Good luck, half of my team is betting on your victory. Which basically means you have like 1/4 of a normal team rooting for you.

You forgot about Henkikuus. I didn't say all three were on your side! Even money says he is knocked down and/or takes root before either of your trees.

On the upside, I have a lot of Block and a few Tackle skills on my side, and even a Strip Ball, so we should generally have beneficial block dice results.

The arrival of the King has led to a much-needed boost to team performance. The Squares may not be winning every match, but they are far more competitive, and they even have managed to score some wins. Coincidence? Certainly not!

More Cracksonville royalty has arrived to join the team and provide support to the King. Lord Rupert Everton is desperate to show his value to the king, and he will get his first crack against the Dwarves in a tough matchup. Lord Rupert should have chosen a more frail team like the Halflings to make his debut. Still, the Squares will look to appease the king as they march towards the playoffs.

There is not as much of a team value discrepancy as I would have thought. So Farr will take a Bloodweiser Babe and the +1 AV. Also, due to the Lads having so many sturdy and stable players, it seems we are best off trying to stay upright if we want a chance to get things flowing. Durd will take Block, and Pants is not going to be far behind in the Block column as well. Best of luck to the Lads, and may the King be pleased with our performance.

I just wanted to highlight this and say that I loved this exchange. It brought about a good chuckle.

Looking forward to this week, and I am VERY excited for the upcoming playoffs. So looking at the final two weeks of the season, the teams making the playoffs and the teams making the CRUD Cup are nearly decided. The Tomb Queens and the Snailpacefailfacepalm Balldroppers need to win these final two weeks and would need one of the teams with two wins to lose both weeks.

    "So you're saying there's a chance."

There is (almost) always a chance! Anyways, I wanted to give everyone a heads up on playoff format, and with 10 teams making the playoffs, it can be a bit tricky. So for seeding purposes, here is our formatting:

    Playoffs
    Spoiler: Week 1
    Show

Week 1 of Playoffs: The Wild Wild Card Weekend
    CRUD CUP!
    Seed 11 vs Seed 12

    Wild Card:
    Seed 10 vs Seed 7
    Seed 9 vs Seed 8

Seeds 1-6 will be taking the week to enjoy a friendly scrimmage. I have spared no expense thanks to our league's accountant, and I have gone back in time and returned with last year's league winner, the undefeated Holhokki Tapio! *cue the "Oohs" and "Aahs"*
Each of the top 6 teams will be facing them in a friendly scrimmage. Each team will receive all of the SPP without any long term injuries. The tradeoff though is your team will receive no winnings (you can still receive 10k for previews though) and no Fan Factor changes. After all, it's just a scrimmage.

After this somewhat convoluted week 1 of the playoffs, it will turn into a simple 8 team playoff bracket that follows typical seeding rules. Award winners will be revealed during Championship weekend.

Yeah, don't have enough Tackle on my team. It's strange, but it's like... most of my team seldom gets SPP. Maybe it's the fact they spend at least half of the match with their faces buried in grass... or their general inability to do anything unless four of them join up.

Week 10 is in the books of history!

In two seasons, I believe this is the bloodiest week we have ever had.

That's right, week 10 is live, and the standings and such are up to date. We only have one week left in the regular season, and we can officially declare our entrants in Season 2's CRUD Cup! I am honored to announce the participants are...

    The Tomb Queens
    The Snailpacefailfacepalm Balldroppers

Congratulations to both teams! This final week of the regular season, there is plenty on the line as far as seeding is concerned, so best of luck to all!
